Dear friends –
Brazil has secured important rights for LGBT+ people in recent year – but reality tells a different story.
Since the beginning of this month,
- a man was attacked and shot 4 times for kissing another man;
- 16 men surrounded a young man and shouted he'd "die for being gay" while stabbing him 22 times;
- a trans woman became the second member of her family to be murdered in a hate crime. Two years ago, her brother was killed when he defended her in a transphobic attack.
But the hate isn't just on the streets – it's also fueled online.
The internet has become a major frontline in the fight for LGBT+ rights in Brazil. And over the past year, here at All Out Brazil we've been experimenting, learning, and truly breaking ground. Now is the time to share our tools and learnings with others.
That's why we're bringing together 20 LGBT+ activists from all over Brazil to participate in a 3-day online campaigning workshop. And we're not charging a single cent in order to make sure no deserving and amazing activist is left out.
All Out has hosted workshops for activists like this one in other parts of the world. Over 100 activists have already participated. I have personally led a few of them, and Luc, I can't even begin to describe how inspiring and important these trainings are.
And now I get to organize and lead a workshop in my own country! It's exciting, very demanding, but so, so rewarding. I can't wait to share the updates and pictures from this group of Brazilian activists with you!
