The CNT-Solidarité ouvrière was born in 2012 from a split of the French CNT. In recent
months, she has made a name for herself by animating struggles in the most precarious
sectors of the proletariat. Julien Huard, his secretary confederal to the communication,
answered the questions of Alternative libertarian. ---- AL: In 2012, you founded the
CNT-SO, what were your motives ? ---- This is a question we have lost the habit of
answering ( laughs ). The vast majority of our members did not know this time. But, to
summarize: the CNT-F lacked a clear unifying orientation, and a joint union development
project. Ideological tensions and a fantasy vision of self-management hindered the tactics
of some structures, including the choice of the cleaning union to pay permanent ones.
And today, what is your implementation ?
Initially, the CNT-SO was created by activist nuclei from the Paris region, Lyon and
Perpignan. Today, it is mainly active on the Paris-Lyon-Mediterranean axis, with some
locations in other cities - particularly in Poitou. We are mainly located in the most
precarious working sectors, primarily in the cleaning, but also in the catering and
hospitality, construction, trade. We are also present in transportation, education,
culture, the health-social sector, personal services and some industrial establishments
... In general, the more the union becomes known and the more we are solicited in various
professional or geographical sectors.
What strategy have you adopted to revitalize your union and bring it into line with your
revolutionary syndicalist project ?
The definition of a joint union development project, with tactics of field work, was our
first concern, and we are still running this "program". We have chosen to work in the most
vulnerable sectors, where the union presence is very weak. This could give good results. I
am thinking, for example, of cleaning unions in Rhône-Alpes or Paca, which we have created
from scratch, and which today are very dynamic tools of struggle.
It is necessary to rely on methodical field tours, targeting categories of employees or
companies. Over a period of time, for example, we visit all the hotels in a given area to
meet the maids subcontracted ... Each time with simple material to distribute, business
cards and leaflets specific with points of attachment to enter into discussion. It's going
to be a salary grid, points of labor law that are stuck, basic demands ... In short,
nothing extraordinary, but we realize that few unions do this, and that there are has a
huge expectation of employees. The returns are good: from the simple individual legal
appointment to the constitution of a union team on a site.
From the beginning, we chose to pay for certain technical tasks to ensure efficiency that
seemed out of reach with a 100% volunteer model . These are activists employed on own
funds, no activists discharged by companies or administrations. And they do not have
internal "political" mandates ...
If we make a balance sheet, this is where we set up this mixed model volunteers + employee
· es that it works best. It allows us to hold daily duty, provide legal assistance, tour
during working hours, support a permanence in case of struggle ...
Legal occupies a special place, and the fact of paying our own lawyers is not trivial.
Today most unions work with lawyers. Our lawyers have legal skills to advise employees who
come to see the CNT-SO, mount a defense ...
It is an essential foundation for a credible union tool if it is articulated with militant
development work and a perspective of struggle. So, there is always the will to explain
that the individual concern can also be a collective question, that there are the
procedures but also the balance of power ... In this logic, be a lawyer at the CNT-SO it
is as much mounting a folder prud'hommal that accompany a strike for weeks. To complete
the system, militant training is very important, especially with a mass of neo-unionists
without union or political experience. It is work that is often invisible, but of which we
are proud.
Can you go back on the last struggles that the CNT-SO carried out ?
Since 2012, we have led dozens of strike movements and walkouts, mainly in the cleaning,
in hotel outsourcing in Paris and Marseille, in the subway or clinic in Lyon ...
It was also possible to fight in other sectors: two-week movement in the Menton buses in
January 2019, action against the closing of a crèche in Marseille in July 2018 ... It goes
from the skirmish to conflicts that may last several months, such as WHO in 2015-2016, the
Holiday Inn Clichy in 2017-2018 or the strike at NH Marseille which lasted more than five
months.
The results are very positive with achievements such as 13 thmonth in cleaning, improved
working conditions, respect imposed on small heads which are finally back. We even got a
structural breakthrough, with the end of outsourcing to the Holiday Inn Clichy. Sign of
the scope of these struggles, in hotel subcontracting - where we "graze" regularly with
the CGT-HPE -, the government had to position itself publicly via Marlène Schiappa this
summer.
I think that our modes of interventions, quite iconoclastic, detonate in a very encrusted
trade union environment and confuse the bosses: festive pickets, occupations,
mediatization, legal accompaniment, solidarity interpro ... In our actions, we cross
totos, "rebellious", feminists, anarchists, cégétistes or southerners. We are at the
crossroads of a union culture of old-fashioned struggle and more recent forms of activism.
We are aware that this remains modest. We do not have the strength to influence general
issues. On the other hand, unionism being largely to be rebuilt, we think that it is by
multiplying these small structures that we will build a class union alternative. Our goal
is the creation of a union tool for combat, a revolutionary tool in an increasingly fierce
class struggle ...

A whole new generation of angry anarchists will be created by the Met's decision to ban
all protests in London. The actions in London are puny compared to those in Hong Kong but
even the Chinese government has not banned all protests. ---- FUCK THE MET - JOIN THE
FRONT OF THE PEOPLES VOTE MARCH ON SATURDAY ------------------- New photos to the album:
Class War return to shameful Ripper "Museum". ----Class war protest peacefully outside the
so-called "museum' in Cable St displaying exhibits glorifying the brutal series of 19th
century murders and exhibiting materials relating to the death of working class women.
They complain that Tower Hamlets council has not enforced the planning decisions against
the "museum" which was only given planning permission under the pretence it would
celebrate the history of women in the East End and symbolically attacked the tourist shop
and its illegal metal shutters and signage with plastic inflatable hammers. One woman read
a message from a descendant of one of the victims condemning the voyeuristic exploitation
of her in the displays, and movingly told what was known about the unfortunate victims,
reminding us that they were real people, with members of their families still living, and
should not be exploited in this way. Police tried to get Class War to protest some
distance from the shop without success. The whole Ripperology industry celebrates violence
against women, and there is no real mystery; police at the time abandoned their
invesigation when a suspect they were convinced was the killer committed suicide. Peter

A Letter to our friends in Rojava ---- As feminists living across the island of Ireland,
we wish to express our heartfelt solidarity with our courageous sisters and comrades in
Rojava as their project for women's freedom is under attack. Please know that as the
fascist Turkish state attempts to isolate, dispossess and brutalise the communities of the
Democratic Federation of Northern Syria, they will only serve to strengthen our collective
resistance and resolve. ---- You stood with us as we fought to repeal the 8th Amendment.
You visited us in Ireland and generously shared your knowledge so we could learn from your
struggles and victories. You invited and warmly welcomed us into your communities,
demonstrating how a feminist society could be organised in practice, something we had only
previously imagined.
Let us be unequivocal, an attack on the Democratic Federation of Northern Syria is an
attack on women's rights, on feminist organising and on ways of organising society that
prioritise ecology, community and humanity over profit. Your woman-led political movement
offers a feminist alternative to global capitalism, with its gender-balanced
decision-making system, and the centring of women's liberation in this unprecedented
democratic project.
Erdogan and the Turkish state are threatened by the democratic values of Rojava, by its
empowered women and its commitment to equality. These attacks in the name of establishing
a ‘safe zone' are no more than an attack to drive out our friends and comrades from the
region, to smash the democratic project and to put an end to women's liberation.
The creation of a so-called ‘safe zone' also serves the purpose of deporting thousands of
Syrian asylum seekers residing in Turkey. They will be brought back to Syria under the
strengthened rule of Bashar al Assad, a war criminal, in spite of the fact that they fled
from it in the first place. The invasion of Rojava and the full reinstatement of al
Assad's power over Syria and its diverse population are two sides of the same coin, which
contemplates the return to an authoritarian stability that can stop the movement of people
(so much desired by the fortress Europe), achieved at the price of slaughtering civilians
and destroying emancipatory political experiences.
We draw inspiration from your courage and your strength and will come out onto our streets
to raise our voices in solidarity with you and to fight fascism, our common enemy.
We call on feminists across the globe to join us in supporting our sisters, friends,
comrades. Organise, march, shout, fight and rise up for Rojava.

Since the 9th of October, the Turkish state has started its invasion of Rojava,
endeavouring a new war against the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, with
indiscriminate bombardments and with the use of ground troops. ---- For the Turkish
government, it is necessary to annihilate a dangerous example of resistance and
experimentation of freedom in the region, one which is based on communities that decided
to embrace a confederal, feminist and radically ecologist revolution. ---- This is the
true reason for this attack. Even admitting that the ‘Operation Peace Spring' will be
limited to ‘securitise' a 30-kilometre fringe along the entire border, as initially
declared by the Turkish authorities, this war will be devastating. In this fringe, there
are many towns and villages that play an important role in the social experiments ongoing
in the region. In the same area is likewise located Kobanê, which was freed from the siege
of the Islamic State and of the Turkish Army thanks to the people's resistance, to the YPG
and YPJ militias and to international solidarity, in January 2015.
A new expansionistic war serves to Erdogan, the Turkish president, to keep a consensus
which is showing its first flashy creeps. Like during the Afrin invasion of two years ago,
today all the parliamentary parties in Turkey, excluding the HDP, side again with the army
in support of this new military campaign. This allows Erdogan and the AKP's power block to
gain also the support of the main opposition party, the CHP. Enrolling the political
oppositions in a war is very useful at a time when the party in power continues to lose
consensus, and when the severe economic crisis that the country experiences could amplify
popular discontent and turn it into social opposition.
The Turkish state triggers war with all means, from bombings on civilians that have
already provoked hundreds of casualties, thousands of refugees as well as destruction and
sufferings, to the reactivation of the Islamic State. In the next few days, new massacres
by the Turkish ground troops, supported by 14,000 mercenaries appointed among former
Islamic State militias, are very likely to start. This will mean ethnic cleansing and
deportations in the territories that the Rojava militias had freed from the Califate.
The population is in danger and the forms of social self-organisation that have been
experimented in these years are about to be cancelled.
The same massacres, rapes, ethnic cleansing, population's substitutions and mass exoduses
which have tragically characterised the Turkish invasion of Afrin could occur again in the
rest of Rojava. Five years ago, when the Turkish state threatened Rojava with an invasion,
this had been stopped by local resistance and by the great international mobilisation in
solidarity. Now, before this actual aggression, it is necessary to act again to stop the war.
Only a strong movement of international solidarity can support resistance, stopping the
offensive of the Turkish state and putting an end to the war through popular mobilisations
from bottom-up. These should relaunch an anti-militarist and anti-authoritarian critique
of the serious responsibilities carried by the regional and global powers which have used
Syria as a battlefield for their imperial interests, from Trump's USA to Putin's Russia,
from the authoritarian regime of Assad to the hypocrisy of the European Union. It is
especially worth demasking the role of the Italian state, which is overtly supporting
Ankara's military operations, despite the government's last statements going in the
opposite sense. Italy and Turkey are both NATO members: only in 2018, Italy has sold
weapons to Turkey for an overall value of 326.3 million euros. In addition, Italy is
keeping a military mission supporting the Turkish army, exactly at the border between
Syria and Turkey, with around 130 soldiers and an anti-missiles battery.
For these reasons, we are demonstrating in these days and we invite all to stand in
support of those who fight to resist the attacks of the Turkish army and of the Islamic
State militias, with their bombings, fires and tortures. We stand in solidarity with the
resistance of Rojava and with those who have fought and fight religious fanaticism and all
forms of authoritarianism.
Always with the fighters for freedom and equality, always against all states!

Istanbul Industrial Workers of the World's statement against the invasion of Syria. The
following statement was originally published on Yeryüzü Postasi. ---- We call on all
workers - workers who are exploited under this system, workers who have become
increasingly impoverished and who are being sent to die - not to join this war, but to
unite against it. ---- At a time when war is taking place in Syria, war which has no
purpose other than death, destruction, and poverty, the AKP government launched a mission
of occupation that will only further increase chaos. Like the previous occupation of
Afrin, this operation shows that neither Russia, the US, nor other imperialist powers care
about the Kurdish people.
This operation is a continuation of the extermination and denial of the Kurdish state
based on the rejection of a peaceful solution to the Kurdish question and is also part of
the AKP's imperial fantasies that will only complicate the Syrian problem. The provocation
by Turkey, with the help of other countries, caused more Syrian people to leave their
country and triggered a new wave of migration that made it impossible to build housing for
refugees who were evacuated from the border region. It is madness.
To eliminate Kurds from the border zone eliminates the possibility of a peaceful solution
to the problem. It makes the war even worse and only increases the chances of further
chaos spreading in the Middle East.
Worker's pay has already started to be cut back with the increased cost of operations in
Turkey. The meaning of this operation is "do you know the price of one bullet?"
The increasing nationalism and militarization of Turkey only strengthens the capitalist
system and the bosses who run it. This operation and the crisis it creates weakens our
struggle against capitalism.
We are completely against this operation because it means more death and poverty for our
class. We condemn all wars between nations, as a part of our historical heritage. We
believe that it is the historic duty of the working class to fight against this war and
the lie of national unity that is intended to be promoted in the name of this war. We have
no common interests with the bosses and the governments in their service!
Furthermore, Turkish workers and thousands of other people have lost their lives, are
getting poorer every minute, and live terrorized because of the Syrian war. To end this
war, the workers of the world have to organize and move. We must strongly oppose the
policy of states that provoke, deepen and make even more destructive the war for the
interests of the ruling classes.
We call on all workers-workers who are exploited under this system, workers who have
become increasingly impoverished and who are being sent to die-not to join this war, but
to unite against it.
It is time to talk about what we can do against this war from our shopfloors, how to
silence the chauvinists, how to defeat the smell of nationalist blood in the air, and how
to stop the war and mitigate its effects. We are organizing workers against the war.
Immediately! Now!
