These monkeys should be in the jungle, not cages

Monkeys Don't Belong In Your Home. They Belong in Their Homes in the Jungles and Rainforests. Ban the Sale of "Pet" Monkeys Now!

Dear friends,
According to Monkey World, a rescue center for primates, more than 85 species of primates can legally be sold over the counter in the U.K. and as a result, monkey ownership is getting out of control. Even worse, once people buy these animals, they're not always willing to continue caring for them. In fact, so many people want to give their pet monkeys to the sanctuary that there's now a long waiting list.
U.K. pet dealers are now openly advertising monkey sales online, which makes it seem like adopting a primate is just as easy as adopting and raising a domesticated dog or cat. Spoiler alert: it's not.
Dealers rarely check whether their customers are suitable owners who will be good and kind to their new pets. While most monkey owners are well-meaning, they have no idea how much effort it takes to raise primates, no professional training, and don't realize domestication can be elusive. They often tire of the responsibility and end up surrendering their monkeys to rescues, or worse, abandoning them to survive on their own, far from their natural habitat.
Monkeys don't belong in flats or houses; they belong in the jungles and rainforests from which they came. Anything else is condemning them to a horrible, unfulfilling life of captivity. Luckily, there's a growing movement to end this cruelty. In 2016, for example, more than 100,000 people signed a petition asking the U.K. government to pass stricter controls on primate ownership.
It's time for the U.K. government to finally take action and ban the sale of monkeys throughout the country. Sign the petition to demand that the U.K. Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs end private monkey sales today.
Thank you,

P.S. Monkeys belong swinging from trees, not hanging from cages. Sign the petition to speak out now.
