Dear friends,
Foie gras — a duck liver paté — is highly revered among foodies for its rich taste and texture. But in order to make this dish, farmers follow a horrific process that includes locking ducks in small cages where they are unable to escape or even move. Then, workers force-feed the animals through a tube, forcing them to gorge themselves on far more food than any duck would naturally consume. Some of the ducks become so painfully swollen they can't even stand up.
The practice is so horrifying that several U.S. states have already prohibited the sale of foie gras. But New York, one of the country's most popular culinary destinations, has yet to ban this cruel item from restaurant menus. In fact, the state is even home to Hudson Valley Foie Gras, the nation's largest foie gras farm. The company claims they use best practices and are "concerned" for the animals' welfare. But, by its very definition, there is no such thing as "best practices" or "ethical" versions when it comes to foie gras. Sign the petition and tell New York state to ban foie gras!

P.S. In order to make foie gras, farmers force-feed ducks until their livers painfully swell up to 10 times their normal size. Tell the state of New York to ban this torturous "delicacy," now!
