This week, Hungary's President Orban used the COVID-19 pandemic to seize unlimited power. The UK put the Coronavirus Act into law, with serious implications for people with disabilities and older people. Thailand and Cambodia cracked down on free speech as the virus spreads.
But in more positive news, a Pakistani official pledged support for Pakistan's transgender community in the government's response.
Human Rights Watch has reported on the impacts of COVID-19 on human rights in 32 countries and counting. And we are documenting how government responses to the crisis affect some of the most marginalized groups.
