Indonesia Has a Serious Plastic Waste Problem and It's Killing Our Ocean Wildlife. Tell Officials to Take Action!

Dear friends,
Indonesia is the second-largest contributor of plastics to our oceans, sending 3.22 million metric tons of the material into our oceans each year. That has led to countless wildlife deaths, such as when a dead 31-foot sperm whale washed ashore at the Wakatobi National Park in Indonesia. Experts discovered the animal was stuffed full of plastic debris, with 115 drinking cups, four plastic bottles, 25 plastic bags, and two flip-flops swimming around in its stomach.
Indonesia's attempts to curtail plastic use have been essentially toothless, yet leaders keep saying their goal is to reduce plastic waste by 70 percent in less than 10 years. If Indonesia really wants to get serious about dumping their plastic addiction, they need look no further than the countries of Kenya and Rwanda, which have successfully banned single-use plastic bags completely. Serious fines and jail time and have worked so well, they won Kigali — Rwanda's capital — the title of "the cleanest city in Africa." Sign the petition to urge Indonesia to follow in the footsteps of Kenya and Rwanda by implementing a complete and total ban on single-use plastics.
Thank you for all that you do,

P.S. If our oceans die from our plastic pollution, so will we. Sign the petition demanding that Indonesian officials take action now.
