If the far right has experienced some development in previous years by clustering around populist and Islamophobic Facebook groups and
self-proclaimed leaders, it is clear that the movement finally died out several months before this confinement, leaving make way for a
constellation of individuals competing with egos and empty phrases. We can already draw an important conclusion from this hasty outcome: it
is not public opinion (which we have seen well open to the circulation of the grossest prejudices against minorities by hiding behind a
curious conception of freedom of expression), nor the authorities (who on the contrary took care to protect these hateful networks), ----
Different scenarios could have been possible during the containment period. Fortunately, the general trend seems to remain disintegration,
but vigilance remains important. Today as yesterday, for each of their hateful gestures, the minifascist garbage can expect an energetic
response with multiple actions to build and defend an inclusive and anti-racist community.
In the tragicomic saga of our regional minifascists and beyond, a few pearls deserve to be noted and commented on to observe the
developments noted above.
Between two picking of earthworms for Facebook flea markets, Sébastien Gagnon of Chicoutimi-Nord, former director of Storm Alliance and
former member of La Meute, seems mainly to have remained active in the fachosphere in order to cultivate his catchphrase towards us and
anti-racists in the region. The current situation is a source of deep dissonance in him. Several of his far-right friends, whom he loved and
shared the fake news about Islam and the invasions of migrants, are now spreading fake news about the Covid-19... Who is surprised? There is
him apparently.
With the Facebook base of the extreme right in Quebec still looking for a new guru, "Steeve L'Artiss Charland", kicked out of La Meute after
an ego crisis and now leader of a group of followers , tries to rally around him the followers of false news (which are at the very basis of
the recipe of the fachosphere). After too many setbacks, the character does not succeed. Guylaine Tremblay, who remains sympathetic to the
far right after his involvement in regional groups, warns of the behavior of his following friends. Marie-Josée Dufour (Marie-Louve), the
former chief of Clan 02 of La Meute, blames Artiss for the decline of La Meute - we will remember, however, the nameless baseness and
ridicule of the initiatives she organized at clan 02,
While the ex-chiefs continue to procrastinate on their abandonment of the boat of the far right while sparing their ego, another part of the
far right is immersed in the dissemination of false news on the Covid-19 and seeks to associate a "globalist" plot with the health
management of the pandemic. As Céline Dion sings: "We don't change, we only hide a moment from ourselves"; A new reconfiguration of the far
right is obviously not coming soon. To date we do not have statistics on the number of activists and far-right activists in Quebec who let
themselves be seduced by the words of Donald Trump and tried hydroxychloroquine or the disinfectant, but that should not delay. Éric Proulx,
white supremacist of Saint-Fulgence and ex-chef of La Meute, whose members had nicknamed him "Ti-loup tout-tout" for his tolerated sexual
misconduct in senior management, may be able to convince a few followers with his Facebook publications. To be continued...
