On the 20th of March, when the Tories were forced to close the schools after the
failure of the "herd immunity" there were 714 new cases and 36 new deaths. ---- Yesterday there were 3,534 new cases and 170 new deaths.
---- Coronavirus remains highly infectious, deadly and without a vaccine. ---- However the party wants to re-open the schools. Well, the
state schools atleast. ---- The private schools will stay shut. The playing fields of Eton will remain empty. ---- They are making it quite
clear whose children are expendable. Yours. ---- Class War Daily says: ---- The Tory government seems obsessed with getting kids back to
school for a few weeks when we all know that this will spread the virus and threaten our loved ones. They are pressing for schools to open
on June 1st. Today it is quickly becoming apparent that their plans are unravelling because people have had enough.

There is a rebellion against
the Tories because everyone
has seen what a mess they
have made of their pandemic
response. Not enough
protective equipment in our
hospitals and a disaster in our
care homes. Over 50,000 dead
and people seem unwilling to
allow the virus to spread again.
NOT IN OUR SCHOOLS!

They say that the Battle of
Waterloo was won on the
playing fields of Eton. It is
now also clear that the battle
against Covid19 was lost on
those same fields. It was lost
by a political class who care
only for making money and
they know they can only make
money by getting us to work
and then getting our kids ready
to join in when they're old
enough. At Eton, posh kids get
playing fields where they learn
politics and military tactics.
Everywhere else we get schools
opening early where the virus
will spread like wildfire.

What will an extra few weeks
matter if our kids stay virus
free and are able to see their
grandparents sooner? Surely
the health of everyone in the
UK is the most important
thing? We're not stupid. We
can teach them a bit ourselves.
On top of this shouldn't we
value teachers and urge the
unions to keep them safe and
virus free too? Lessons can
be safely provided online.
Teachers should not be forced
into unsafe workplaces.

Last week Boris Johnson's
weakness started to show as he
set out in a televised address
what he thought should happen
with the easing of lockdown
restrictions. Very quickly it
disintegrated because the other
nations of the UK have powers
to go their own way. Johnson
is therefore the prime minister
of England only and anyone
living in England should fear
his plans. Thankfully we are
the people who can decide
if schools are open. There's
no point in opening them if
people don't send their kids
inside. Stay home and keep
your kids protected.

Some local authorities are
refusing to comply with the
Tories. Liverpool is defying
the Tories and keeping schools
closed. Outside of England,
the nations of the UK are in an
even more rebellious mood. In
Scotland schools won't open
full time until August. Schools
in Wales will also not reopen
on June 1st. In Northern
Ireland they will not reopen
until September. So when the
Tories say that schools are
going to reopen in the UK,
what they mean is England -
every other part of the UK has
rebelled against their callous,
sickening "business as usual"
experiment.

It is an experiment that we must
all resist in order to stay safe
and keep our children virus
free. Remember the three R's:
REFUSE, RESIST, REVOLT

When I was at school in the year Nineteen Hundred and Freezing to Death, one of the teachers was always banging on about the book Lord of
the Flies by William Golding. This was to justify his Catholic beliefs about original sin, because the book, later turned into films on
three different occasions, was about the thin veneer of civilisation that supposedly vanishes in desperate situations. Some public school
kids are the only survivors of a plane crash on a desert island. Despite ending up in a plentiful paradise, many of the boys soon descend to
savagery, and by the end of the book, and the arrival of the Royal Navy, three of the boys are dead. ---- The teacher used this book to
illustrate how flawed human beings are, and how badly they need the State and a complex legal system, to hold the beast in humans at bay. It
is no surprise that it has been a set book in British schools for a long time. Of course, when discussing anarchism with others, one of the
objections is the imperfect nature of people and Lord of the Flies is often held up as an "example".

Well, the events in Lord of the Flies never happened, but a similar event did happen in real life but with a different outcome.

In 1965 five boys, all between 13 and 16 years old, bored with being at boarding school on the island of Tonga, stole a boat and sailed off
into the Pacific for a lark. After their boat was wrecked in a storm, they ended up on a desert island (a desert island because its original
inhabitants had been seized by slavers in 1863). There they remained for fifteen months. But instead of descending into tooth and claw
survival of the fittest, they survived by cooperating.

The boys created a garden to grow food, built chicken pens, hollowed out tree trunks to collect water, created a badminton court and a
gymnasium, and had a fire burning permanently. They collectively worked the garden, and had a roster for kitchen and guard duties. They
ended each day with a music session, and any arguments were dealt with by time out. When one boy fell down a cliff and broke a leg, the
other boys successfully put the leg in a splint which was successfully set and healed.

In the end the boys were rescued in 1966. This event forms an important part of the book that that just been published, Humankind: A Hopeful
History by the Dutch historian Rutger Bregman. He questions the premises of the much touted Lord of the Flies and points to the little known
story of the Tongan boys. He goes back to the start of human history and before, and shows that the cooperative instinct has a basis in
evolution. This is the same cooperative instinct that the anarchist communist thinker Kropotkin describes in his work Mutual Aid.

At a time of lockdown, this book makes a welcome appearance and justifies what we anarchist communists have been talking about for the last
century or so. As Brian Eno, in writing about Bregman's book, says:" "Every revolution in human affairs - and we're in one right now - comes
in tandem with a new understanding of what we mean by the word "human". Rutger Bregman has succeeded in reawakening that conversation by
articulating a kinder view of humanity (with better science behind it). This book gives us some real hope for the future".

On April 17, anarchists Dmitry Tsibukovsky and Anastasia Safonova were sent to pre-trial detention centers in Chelyabinsk for the banner
"FSB is the main terrorist" posted two years ago. We'll publish Safonova's letter received through Rosuznik's mail. ---- Message to the
media ---- Hello everyone. This is Nastya Safonova. As many already know, my husband and I, Dima Tsibukovsky, are now under investigation in
a pre-trial detention center in the city of Chelyabinsk.  ---- Two years ago, in 2018, there was a lot of news about this case, including
that Dima was tortured with a shocker in the FSB building. In the same year, the criminal case was closed for lack of corpus delicti, but
the brave officers of the above service did not stop there, which was also repeatedly reported. In the end, making sure that we were no
longer doing anything, we moved to Tula with my mother. She underwent several operations, so we helped her and supported her.

They did not notify us about the resumption of the criminal case, but the police simply arrived with the FSB officer in Chelyabinsk, carried
out a search and took us with Dima to Chelyabinsk, where they quickly closed us. Despite the fact that the court made many arguments against
detention, we both sit in jail. Today there was an appeal, and, as you already, I think, know, the measure remained unchanged. But neither I
nor Dima are discouraged. The absurdity and obvious fabrication of our business are understandable to anyone who is even a little familiar
with him, therefore we don't give up, hold fast and believe in our victory.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who helps and supports us. The knowledge that there are so many caring people behind the
barbed wire fence gives an incredible amount of strength! Thank you very much! The fight lives on!

Answers to three people:

Thank you very much for the information, for the support! I hold on, do not lose heart, the truth remains for us, the main thing is that the
struggle continues! I believe that this absurd thing will fall apart, it is a matter of time, because well, nonsense =) The conditions of
detention here are normal, transfers and letters come stably, and there are caring people behind these walls, bars and barbed wire who care
about our fate, gives a huge amount of strength. Thank!

Thank you for your kind words and support. We do not give up and do not lose heart. I have no connection with my husband, but I am confident
in his strength of mind and endurance, because I know that he keeps himself with dignity and that his walls and bars cannot be broken. I do
not lose positive, especially with such life-affirming letters. Good will win!

Things are fine with me, as far as possible in such a situation =) The conditions of detention are quite acceptable, the camera is small,
clean, there is a TV, there are enough beds for everyone, people are adequate with me. Of course, everything is in shock from our business,
well, it would be =) Dima's parents are engaged in programs. I have a ban on correspondence with Dima, I'm waiting for permission from the
investigator to at least know about his well-being, but so far it's quiet. I do not lose my strength of mind and believe that he, too, does
not give up, he is a very strong character man. So I wait, I hope and believe - the victory will be ours =)
