Are machines going to rule the world ? When will this happen ? Humanity will one day be put under guardianship: reality or science fiction ?
If the answers to these questions seem obvious to you, this book is for you. ---- With Le Mythe de la singularité , Jean-Gabriel Ganascia
invites us to review the foundations of assertions more and more installed in contemporary minds. ---- The notion of singularity describes,
in math, a "gray area", where a point, a value of a function or an object is poorly defined. In physics, a black hole has a singularity in
its center, insofar as the gravitation at this point tends towards infinity. ---- Technological singularity is the definition of the advent
of a break in evolution. This rupture will be made by a new form of intelligence, which will no longer be human. The resulting
superintelligence will therefore "escape" in its definition, role and repercussions from human intelligence.

Mathematicians such as Irvin John Good and Stanislaw Ulam have suggested a rapid acceleration of technological progress and consequently of
a possible technological "explosion of intelligence". These scientific hypotheses quickly formed the basis of a new imagination of science
fiction authors such as Isaac Asimov or Vernor Vinge.

This imaginary will promote a sliding game of affirmations. Affirmations that will start from the imagination to claim to be scientific
truth, being less and less subject to a rigorous methodology.

It is in this line of sliding that Kurzweil [1], can affirm most seriously of the world that Moore's law (empirical law which defines the
exponential increase in the performances of machines), is not limited to an economic conjuncture. technical, but does govern the evolution
of everything (the universe, life, humans, etc.).

By thus copying Moore's law on "evolution" in the absolute, Kurzweil deduces increasingly shorter cycles of evolution, with at the beginning
of each cycle the advent of the perfection of the forms of the old cycle. Now "the machine" will be the next subject of evolution as the
perfection of humanity outside of it.

 From science to science fiction
As she reads, Ganascia challenges her readers about the imaginary beliefs of the supporters of technological singularity. On the one hand,
the enchanted dream that large firms in the digital industry want to sell to investors in order to raise funds.

On the other, the central role that they want to have on social, economic and political orientations. With these elements the evidence of
the deception of the near arrival of the technological singularity becomes clear ... In the eyes of who will want to see it.

If this book illuminates in a rigorous and well-argued manner the process of evolution of thoughts around technological singularity, if it
explores scientific notions by popularizing them, and analyzes crucial philosophical debates (where we discover that Blanqui would have
influenced Nietzsche on the cyclical conception of time), it is limited to a role of not very critical observation on the political
mechanisms which allow this state of affairs.

The conclusion invites " to act, and not to close our eyes " but no track is developed, leaving readers, certainly informed, but without
leverage of collective action to fight against this standardizing prophecy.

Anti-war announcement of the Anarchist Federation. ---- Recently, the rivalries between the governments and the bourgeoisie of Greece and
Turkey have been rekindled, with the main issues being the delineation of the EEZs, the exploitation of the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean
energy fields and the control of the transit trade of energy. Once again the people of the area become spectators in the same work. The
imperialist rivalries between the two states and their capitalists have raised a warlike atmosphere, a feverish war preparation and a strong
mobilization and vigilance in the Greek and Turkish bourgeois armies. Unilateral and myopic accusations are fired from each side, each of
which claims the "right" in its part by defending its bourgeoisie. The state political management of this issue turns in both countries to
the use of nationalist rhetoric, in order to extract the consensus of the social base in its possible coming bloodshed, grafting it with
chauvinism and national unity, in order to declassify its class interests. which are opposed in material terms to those of the capitalists!
Of course, the imperialist rivalries and nationalist narratives that are becoming the flags of the two states these days are systematically
and subtly silenced by the bourgeois press and the capitalist media, trying to shape a nationalist and anti-bourgeois tendency towards the
bourgeoisie. . in order to extract the consensus of the social base in its possible coming bloodshed, grafting it with chauvinism and
national unity, in order to declassify its class interests, which are materially opposed to those of the capitalists! Of course, the

The evolving conflict between the Greek and Turkish states is taking place in order to emerge as the dominant political and economic factor
in the Eastern Mediterranean. This is a transnational dispute over the prefecture of political and economic power in the region. The only
winners of this story will be the capitalists: portions of the Greek and Turkish bourgeoisie and especially the monopoly groups that will
make a fortune from hydrocarbon mining. On the other hand, the people of the region, the producers of wealth and the youth of the two
countries will be placed in the guillotine of the imperialist slaughterhouse. Apart from the very serious losses that a hot episode or a
fierce war can cause at the cost of the lives of poor devils,

Capitalist "peace" is a relentless class war that is constantly intensifying. A few days ago at the EU summit The Greek state was given a
financing package of 72 billion euros (32 billion euros from the Recovery Fund, a 19 billion euro grant and the rest of the loans). This
agreement inaugurates, therefore, the imposition of the new memorandum that will hit the working-class strata relentlessly in the coming
months, because the disbursement of these funds requires the evaluation of the anti-social and anti-labor reforms that are to be
implemented. This money will not go to the people, it will not support the poor, the working people and the unemployed. Instead, they are
intended for capitalist reconstruction. This is another rescue package,

It is no secret that Greek territory has been transformed into a vast NATO base with the full consent of governments and bourgeois parties.
And while a more severe cycle of austerity is approaching with the forthcoming new memorandum, the Greek state as a member of NATO spends
2.4% of its GDP ($ 4.5 billion) annually for military purposes. Expenditure on armaments is at the top of the domestic state budget
priorities, at a time when the social majority is groaning under the weight of anti-labor and anti-popular policies and the loan agreements
signed by the Greek state dictate the maintenance of its international and economic committee. austerity in the economic life of the country
at least until 2060! It is once again demonstrated that NATO is not the roof of peace and the protection of peoples, but a transnational war
machine and slaughterhouse of the imperialists. Those who present themselves as "protectors of the peoples" are those who plot their real
security, those who incite peace and bloodshed the peoples for the interests of privileged minority elites (multinationals and monopolies).
NATO imperialist intervention counts decades and countless casualties in its history. Today, NATO has extended its blood-stained hand to the
countries of the Middle East and North Africa, where there are open war fronts that are tearing apart thousands of peoples. Tomorrow the
imperialist war may knock on the door of the Aegean... but a transnational war machine and slaughterhouse of the imperialists. Those who

The oppressed and the exploited, no matter where we are on the map, we have nothing to separate from each other. We must understand the
community of our class interests and on this basis organize our counterattack against those who oppress us and live by our toil. We are not
going to fight for the interests of local and international bosses, we are not going to fight for any homeland, nor are we going to turn the
barrels of arms on the working classes of other countries, from which the rulers are trying to separate us by any artificial means.
recruiting any available solvent of class consciousness (eg nation, borders, religion).

It is the duty of the oppressed and the exploited to sabotage the machine of the imperialist war and to prevent the spread of nationalist
poison in the social body! Therefore, it is imperative to strengthen the international anti-war and anti-imperialist movement on the basis
of proletarian internationalism and the relentless anti-capitalist, revolutionary struggle. Only a united world proletariat, class-organized
and politically organized, can prevent the war plans of the capitalist oligarchy, clash and overthrow the state and the capitalists, to lead
collectively, unfettered and horizontally the economic and social life, for the construction of the stateless and classless society, of
liberal communism.

On July 25, activists of the movement "yellow vests" in France carried out the 89th "act of protest". In France, the season of vacations and
vacations, but the participants in the movement say: their protest has no vacation! Demonstrations took place in several cities across the
country, and pickets were routinely set up at many roundabouts and intersections. ---- The demands and slogans of the movement remain the
same: social justice, the abolition of the pension reform, direct democracy, and an increase in the purchasing power of the population. ----
In Paris, the "yellow vests", in masks and without them, gathered at 13.00 on the Place de l'Europe and at 14.30, to the beat of drums,
began a march in the direction of the La Defense business quarter. "There is no vacation for the" yellow vests ", demonstrations will take
place all summer. We will not give a gift to these spies who rule us," said one of the demonstrators. Another chanted into a megaphone the
words of an old French revolutionary song "Ah, sa Ira!" The procession, as usual, was accompanied by reinforced detachments of the gendarmerie.

On the posters of the demonstrators, one could read: "You have laws and weapons, the yellow vests have determination"; "We will not
retreat"; "I have no coronavirus, I have rage" ...

The participants chanted: "We are here"; "Don't look at us, join us"; "Macron is at war with us, and so are his police"; "Work hard, consume
and shut up"; Down with the police state.

The Yellow Vests resumed demonstrations in Toulouse. This time, the authorities did not prohibit them, as they had been doing for many
weeks. Protesters marched through the city, chanting the usual slogans.

In Besançon, the flyers gathered at the Valentin roundabout, chanting: "We're here! Even if Macron doesn't want to, we're here! To protect
employees, to protect pensioners, to protect the yellow vests, we're here." The gendarmerie did not fine the audience and, after a dispute,
let them hold the action. The participants also touched upon the topic of the coronavirus epidemic: is it really a "deadly epidemic" or a
way to intimidate and control people?

It is reported about the holding of actions "yellow vests" at roundabouts and crossroads in Saint-Just-en-Chausse (Department of Oise),
Falsbourg (Lorraine) and other places. On July 23, after a break of several months, the "yellow vests" of the Mont-de-Marsan area (Landes)
resumed their performances.

In addition, on July 24 in Marseille, the "yellow vests" took part in solidarity actions with the largest French doctor-microbiologist
Didier Raoul, who criticizes total quarantine, forced wearing of masks and general vaccination.

Madrid - Illustration by Pau Molera - Excerpted from CNT nº 423, Other looks section ---- The Church is another of the power structures. It
doesn't matter when you read this. And not by maintaining a certain invisibility does it cease to exist. The problem is that today not only
does the blue-green parliamentary color range defend its precepts, but there is practically no opposition in the entire political sphere.
---- Of course there are rougher postures than others. For example, attempts to tighten the penal code, both for women who abort and for
those who collaborate, have been constant from Gallardón to the neo-Francoists of Vox. For years this topic has been on a table distributed
by fanatic groups indirectly inviting to vote for this formation, since it is the one that best defends the religious precepts that they
select appropriately from the Bible.

Feeding the beast
With a little stomach and a lot of black humor you can visit the Hazteoir website, watch 13tv or listen to the Cope, to see who has been
feeding the brown beast for years and how little is said. It should be remembered that 13TV, perhaps the most dedicated chain in propagating
extreme reactionary ideas, has been 9 years with average annual losses of 10 million euros, a situation that in any company would lead to
technical bankruptcy. In this case the Episcopal Conference has been dealing with "assisted breathing" financially speaking. This should
undoubtedly lead us to affirm that, today, the best anti-fascism that can be raised is a sharp criticism of the structures of Catholic
Christianity, something that would be much easier to do were it not for the attitude of parties and organizations from left,

We have seen a councilwoman from Madrid apologizing to the archbishop for the protest in a university chapel that brought her to trial, also
placing people linked to Cáritas in positions of responsibility or washing Father Ángel's past starring in a dinner for the poor in the City
Hall of Madrid by the former mayor Carmena, actions that come to confirm, unfortunately, what we are pointing out. How few remember the
appointment of Ana Botella as Honorary President of Messengers of Peace, a fact that represented like no other the good historical relations
of that priest with the upper echelons of the PP of Aznar. But come on, we are not discovering Atlantis. Some press headline refers directly
to "the Christian sectors of PSOE and United We Can."

The church and Francoism
The works of historical memory around the 1936 counterrevolution with the consequent Francoist repression have been one of the points where
the seams have creaked. And they have done so because the historical reality, however interpretable it may be, is also sometimes stubborn.
It takes time to make the Church in this matter pass as a neutral entity between victims and executioners, if not directly as a victim of
the fiercest anticlericalism, something that supposes a historical revisionism at the height of the Holocaust deniers. There are
photographs, written documents and hundreds of unquestionable testimonies in dozens of published books that place their priests and bishops
promoting, financing,

If we want to face the threat of the extreme right more effectively, the most intelligent thing is not to abandon the belligerent attitude
against its material and ideological source.

For this reason, it is atrocious to contemplate the Archbishop of Valladolid in an act of tribute to the victims of Francoism promoted by
the city's left-wing parties. Not as a sign of repentance for the collaboration in the murders of the institution he represents, no, but as
a death official who passed by there to a funeral act where the main message is that we get along well with our executioners. And this
happens while the last stronghold defending tributes to the dictator is a Benedictine abbey.

Within this generalized behavior, it must be recognized that something is moving (I dare not say "changing"). The transfer of Franco's
remains is now followed by the intention of removing the religious from Cuelgamuros, something that cannot be applauded as the first step in
the complete transformation of the compound or its direct demolition (you always have to contribute ideas). There has been talk of
transferring them to Paracuellos del Jarama to continue their activity, in their own words, in favor of "those who have fallen for God and
for Spain", which is still an excess of sarcasm that comes to laugh again at the victims. It is also not surprising that Monsignor Reig Plá,
Bishop of Alcalá de Henares, offered them shelter. Not too many years ago a photograph of him was published in a religious service for the
Brotherhood of the Martyrs of Paracuellos with the Francoist flag next to the altar. And with memory (or with a little time in any search
engine), we will find hateful flushing statements against the LGTB collective, feminism, etc., but of which they do not intervene the
prosecution, of course. What does surprise a little more is knowing that Convergencia i Unió avoided with an amendment to the Historical
Memory Law the liquidation of the managing foundation of the Valley of the Fallen. The Benedictine brothers of Montserrat thus came to the
aid of the people of Madrid, using the party as a transmission belt for their interests. Yes, the same ones who organized masses for
independence. And with memory (or with a while in any search engine), we will find hateful flushing statements against the LGTB collective,

Francoism was not national-Catholic by chance and patriarchy has been and continues to be justified by religion as a favorite son.

There has also been a public debate about making the church pay the ibi and other taxes on buildings and businesses that they own that are
not destined for worship, and in line with this, the buildings and land that they stole under the method of unregistration were being
reviewed. . Looking back and knowing the interest of the political government (not the real one, the economic one), I very much doubt that
these measures are carried out, but rather that they will surely constitute a deterrent threat, which any psychopath of presidential office
would Because that relationship of patronage of the church with the extreme right does not escape either Pedro or Pablo, and they have
perfectly seen with good eyes the strategy of threatening the cassocks to weaken those of Abascal.

Being this way, staying in a feint, perhaps it is even the best thing that can happen to us. Do not repeat Zapatero's feat of charging them
VAT. On that occasion, after three threats of sanction from the European Union to the Spanish government for keeping the church exempt from
that tax, they were forced to pay. But the collection of those 30 million euros was expensive. To compensate, the amount of the personal
income tax box was raised from 0.5 to 0.7, which meant that the Episcopal Conference increased the collection over the previous year by more
than 70 million. The smile at a press conference by his spokesman, Martínez Camino, was the perfect summary of the operation.

If we want to face the threat of the extreme right more effectively, the most intelligent thing is not to abandon the belligerent attitude
against its material and ideological source. Francoism was not national-Catholic by chance and patriarchy has been and continues to be
justified by religion as a favorite son. For this reason, it is possible that this relationship of governments that call themselves
progressive with those who endanger the life and liberty of the most socially exploited groups is not understood, but it must be understood
that power, of any kind, always seeks social peace. above justice, and pulpits continue to be a quality tool for this

Introduction ---- In June 1926, the publishing in France of a document named "Organization Platform of the General Union of Anarchists"
(signed by the group of Russian exiles Dielo Trouda), caused a deep impact and discomfort between anarcho-communists, anarcho-syndicalists
and indidualists, mostly in Europe. ---- Among those who signed the document was the peasant Nestor Makhno, main leader of the Ukrainian
Irsungent Army, and Piotr Arshinov, a workman and guerrilla, both veteran of the Russian revolution and civil war (1917-1921). The document
summoned the reorganization of the revolutionary anarchism, the ideological struggle against the disorganizing individualism and creation of
an international anarchist organization.
Errico Malatesta, one of the main anarcho-communists of the time, declared himself crearly and categorically against the presuppositions
established by the Platform: "Their organisation, being typically authoritarian, far from helping to bring about the victory of anarchist
communism, to which they aspire, could only falsify the anarchist spirit and lead to consequences that go against their intentions." Voline,
a Russian anarcho-communist exile in French wrote the following: "To conclude, the only original point in the Platform is its revisionism
toward the Bolshevism, hidden by the authors..."

The Organisational Platform was a document that pointed out to three fundamental tasks: the development of an anarchist theory as basis of
the international organization; the greater precision of the strategy and overall program to the socialist revolution from the criticism of
the experience of bureaucratic degeneration of the Russian revolution of 1917; the critique of the function that the anarchists had played
in the masses movement and the presentation of a revolutionary line of action.

Those tasks posed by the authors of the Organisational Platform were not performed. And in that lies in large part the reasons of the
historical decline of anarchism, that as Makhno and Arshinov pointed out, would remain marginal in relation to the struggle of the peasants
and workmen masses if not faced such tasks.

The platform also had its limitations. The reaction of the anarcho-communists, individualists and anarcho-syndicalists denounced the
Platformists as something "foreign to anarchism". The platformists were accused of "deviating from the anarchism", of treading a dangerous
border with the "Bolshevism" and with the "authoritarian" ideologies.

However, the Platformists, contrary to what their critics affirmed, were not "breaking" with the "anarchism in general". But with the
revisionism (represented by the self-proclaimed "currents"). The platformists also thought that were creating a new proposal. Actually, they
were just recovering, partly, the Bakuninist conception that originates from the First International, disowned by the anarcho-communism of
Errico Malatesta and Piotr Kropotkin, and by the anarcho-syndicalism and its theorists as Rudolf Rocker.

The Organisational Platform was refused because it contains within a movement toward what the anarcho-communists, individualists and
anarcho-syndicalists had denied: the Bakuninism. But the Platform only defined the tasks. Its authors did not have the historical conditions
to perform them. They showed that it would be needed to build an international anarchist organization. That it should have theorical unity,
tatical unity, collective responsibility and federalism. But they, by force majeure, left that task incomplete.

The earlier experience of criticism and the heroic efforts of individuals and small groups who have made partial criticisms and reflections
that precede the analysis presented here must be recognized. The platformist critique in the 1920s in Europe; the criticisms of small groups
of "Bakuninists" in Brazil and the defense even confused of Makhnovshchina in Brazil by José Oiticica; the criticism and opposition of the
group Antorcha to the capitulation of the anarcho-communists led by Santillan in Argentina. Also in the 1930s the criticism to the
degeneration of the anarcho-syndicalism and Spanish communism by Makhno, Jaime Balius and Los Amigos de Durruti. The criticisms of Georges
Fontenis in the 1950s and of the historical FAU in the 1960s are fundamental. But it also must be recognized thal all these critiques were
partial and incomplete. They has failed to be consolidated, because did not tread toward the Bakuninism.

This document intends exactly to assume responsibility of performing the tasks outlined by the Organisational Platform and the others
comrades. To continue from where they paused: advancing to the unique possible direction to the platformism, the Bakuninism. In that sense,
it tries to present the structural features of the anarchist theory - the Bakuninism - and summon the reconstruction of the Bakuninist
international organization and of the workers international organization. That task is today central.

The degeneration of the national liberation and socialists revolutions, the integration of the trade unions of social-democratic and
anarcho-syndicalist guidance within the capitalist system show that the proletariat has been taken to successive and very grave historical
defeats. The anarcho-communists and anarcho-syndicalists capitulation is also an important feature of this history. It was in large part the
result of the theoretical mistakes, of the empirism and oportunism which marked the formation of political organizations and organizations
of workers' struggle.

So, here we intend to summon the construction of an international anarchist network (IAN) and of an internationalist-classist trend (ICT).
These forms of organization aim to start the process of reconstruction of the Alliance and the IWA. But to outline more concretely the
features of this political and mass organization is needed, before anything else, a presentation of the content of the Bakuninism and a deep
criticism of the theory that was leader of the workers's struggle in the last century: the Marxism. One needs also a serious critique of the
experiences of struggle of the workers and about how the deviations of theory were determinative to the workers' defeats.

The platform of organization of the revolutionary anarchism here presented intends to determine the theoretical and programmatic basis of
such international construction. The first part of the document is an historical and theoretical criticism of the different theories and
experiences of organization and struggle of the workers. The second part is an application of the Bakuninist conception of theory and
revolution to the current stage of capitalist development. From that, we present a proposal of organization of the revolutionaries and
workers to the struggle for the socialism.

The individuals and groups who wish to discuss the accession to this platform of construction of sections of the IAN and ICT in their
countries must write to get engaged and develop the said process: the additional and detailed guidance shall be passed by the Construction
Comission.

anys trenta, a work that has been translated into Spanish by comrade Sonia Turón / Published by the non-profit publisher 17d elicias.org
---- In the prologue of the book you dedicate "To the militancy, workers, who have helped me understand this difficult and exciting period
of our past." Endless interviews with our older colleagues, today almost all of them disappeared. What was that fieldwork like and what did
it mean for your study? ---- I was pleased with the good reception I received from the militants, the trust they placed in me when
explaining their personal experiences. And, at the same time, I was surprised by the intelligence and critical position regarding their
experiences, which denotes a reflective attitude that does not give up in the face of the defeat or failure of the organization, but rather
extracts consequences and hopes to achieve a revolutionary transformation in the present and future.

Question. - What was it that made possible in the 1930s that a large nucleus of militants could dedicate themselves almost full time to your
Organization?

Answer.- The personal will and the firm belief that it was possible to transform society and create a just, egalitarian and democratic
reality. And supported by this attitude, a deep perception of the capacity of the human race to cooperate with others for the benefit of the
population as a whole, of the capacity of people to govern themselves without the exploitation of the other.

Q. - How was the union activism in relation to other aspects of society?

R. - The militants were part of a movement that far surpassed the union sphere, the libertarian movement that responded to different areas
of social life, constituting a libertarian workers culture, of which the workers took pride and with which they They identified: he
participated in neighborhood life, in the Athenaeums and social gatherings in different recreational and cultural activities, he lived with
his neighbors creating community and belonging to a way of conceiving society.

Q. - As you well know, the book of Militants is having a great reception among the readers of our newspaper. How do you value the good
reception that the book is having in its Spanish version?

R. - With great joy, especially since my research has attempted to capture what really happened and to what extent the desired direct
democracy and self-management were achieved. Readers' valuation shows their interest in knowing while avoiding preconceived visions. Reality
is always revolutionary because it allows us to correct and transform.

Q. - Why do you think the current CNT militant hopes to find in the pages of this book some answers to his way of understanding the union
today almost 90 years later?

A. - I think this study addresses a great question, still valid and unanswered: what obstacles exist when trying to build an organization
based on direct democracy and a relationship of equals. And why the militancy, which holds these objectives, generates, however, a structure
that reproduces power relations that subordinate the majority. What hinders the full participation of the majority in decisions. These
difficulties and limits in achieving a truly participative organization constitutes a huge challenge at present in the face of the demands
of society.

The health situation has exacerbated the problems already existing among the indigenous populations, causing shortages and isolation. Far
from solving them, the authorities' actions go in the opposite direction: the authorization of a new mega-mining project. ---- Worried about
their income, the capitalists rushed to their "safe haven" during the pandemic. Result, the price of gold explodes. In the Amazon, the
consequences were immediate: while the police left to control the confinement, the artisanal miners increased their activity, and therefore
the pollution and destruction of both the forest and the river. ---- The economic "refuge" of the capitalists destroys the refuges of humans
and living beings in the Amazon. The alert was quickly given by the Wayana populations on the Haut Maroni, which the WWF was able to
illustrate with aerial photos. Faced with the lack of reaction from the authorities, the Grand Customary Council of the Amerindian and
Bushinenge populations pronounced on March 29 the closure of Haut Maroni to traffic, by its own means.

Indigenous people organize themselves
But illegal gold panning is not the only danger. In full confinement, the prefecture, obviously without any other priority, brings together
the departmental mining commission. During this commission, the Compagnie minière Espérance (CME) and the transnational Newmount, one of the
world leaders in gold, present and receive a positive response to its gold megamine project between the municipalities of Apatou and
Grand-Santi. . And this, even though the CME is still awaiting a judgment from the correctional court for water pollution (a lawsuit which
was postponed due to confinement).

Remember that gold is used at 86% for jewelry, the creation of money or government stocks. The remaining 14% are divided between electronics
and medicine. Once again, it is not the capitalists who pay for their crises, but the forest and those who inhabit it, and those who die in
the mines.

It is estimated that around 13,000 indigenous people live in Guyana today. The health crisis itself hits them hard. Amerindian villages can
present more risk from several points of view: health infrastructure reduced to a minimum or even absent, and therefore access to treatment
areas by canoe or plane, which is obviously very expensive.

The inhabitants are sometimes considered "at risk" by epidemiologists, due to the greater presence of diabetes and hypertension. The
situation may have pushed the indigenous populations to move away from urban centers to find the forest, in Colombia for example. In Guyana,
indigenous organizations have organized themselves to provide isolated areas with gasoline and rifle cartridges, in order to facilitate hunting.

Indeed, the crisis has caused serious food shortages on the rivers. While the authorities have carried out supplies by helicopter,
agriculture, hunting and fishing are the only real tools for resilience in isolated areas. The empty stores have once again demonstrated
Guyana's dependence on European France, and on the oil that sustains transatlantic trade lines.

The health risks came to a head in Brazil, when missionary evangelists tried to reach indigenous territories despite the risks. And for good
reason ! The National Indian Foundation (Funai), in charge of mapping and protecting the lands occupied by indigenous peoples, has been
headed since the beginning of February by... Mr. Lopes Dias, former missionary of New Tribes Mission, a multinational evangelist: 3 200
missionaries from around the world, already accused in Brazil of pedophilia and slavery.

Climate change and colonial heritage
The Customary Grand Council, in its press release on the crisis, moreover explicitly makes the link with past colonization and its genocidal
consequences: " [The crisis]puts us face to face with the legacy of a colonial wound and the collective trauma left behind. by epidemics,
which once decimated our ancestors[...]. Despite this, we remain determined[...]to fulfill our mission in the fight against climate change,
which is a significant factor in the appearance and transmission of viruses. »Many studies have indeed shown major links between the
emergence of disease, deforestation for intensive agriculture and climate change.

The climate has also impacted the situation. Mawalum Amandine Galima, spokesperson for the Indigenous Youth of Guyana, explains it on
Radio-Canada: the drought in March (one third less rain than normal) lowered the water level of the rivers, and therefore made the movement
of goods and people difficult. Temperatures were particularly high, with + 1.6 ° C compared to normal maximum temperatures.

March 2020 was the hottest month on record since measurements began in Guyana in 1955. Subsequently, the heaviest rains in thirty years
fell, causing flooding in villages, drowning houses and cultures.

Guyanese urban areas have suffered the effects of the crisis differently. The Maroni Lab Association explains it on its website: in
Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni, 15 to 20,000 people live in "spontaneous neighborhoods", the official name for slums in Guyana.

How do you confine yourself when you have to go down to the river, to the communal fountain to do your dishes and wash ? How to "stay at
home" when there is no demarcation between one's plot and that of the neighbor ? How to feed when all the informal economy stops, and the
"jobs" with ?

The health crisis has accentuated pre-existing social problems in Guyana, inherent in the situation in which the "metropolis" places its
"overseas" territories , and shows once again that movements from the stock market to the other side of the world here translate into life
or death.
