#UK #EU - Statewatch is looking to appoint two new Trustees

 The Board of Trustees of Statewatch is looking for new members to work with us! Could you be the right person to help steer the ever-vital work of Statewatch?

We are looking for Trustees who meet the following criteria:

  • have a demonstrable knowledge and understanding of how the EU works, in particular in the field of Justice and Home Affairs policy;
  • have experience of working in the field and with people working in the field of human rights and civil liberties;
  • an understanding of how civil society organisations work, and how they should work;
  • share the vision and values of Statewatch and be committed to its Strategic Agenda.

Where possible we are also keen to recruit a lawyer active in the field of civil liberties with an understanding of employment law; Trustees with experience of: fundraising and/or administration; knowledge and skills in communications and IT; campaigning and networking at grassroots, national and international levels with civil liberties groups and from communities we aim to support with our work.

Our vision:

  • A Europe of freedom, democracy and diversity, a society of fundamental civil liberties and personal and political rights, free movement and freedom of information, and equal rights for all.

Our objectives:

  • To monitor civil liberties and the state in Europe, in particular in the EU and its member states and the UK;
  • To inform and empower individuals and civil society.
  • Action on civil liberties and justice and home affairs issues.

b) A short statement (no more than 1 page) explaining what you will bring to Statewatch, including details of your involvement in similar organisations.

The deadline for applications is 23:59 on Sunday 1 November, UK time.

We are also looking for Patrons who bring expert knowledge and reputation in the field and/or who are activists and campaigners familiar with current issues and struggles. The role of a Patron is similar to that of a Trustee and could be suitable for people with specific expertise in a subject area and/or be a pathway to becoming a Trustee.
