#WORLDWIDE #MEXICO #News #Journal - I was able to survive because of them

 Hola,

My name is Theo and I'm a trans guy from Mexico City. I come from a violent home, where I was forced to go through "conversion therapies" to try and "fix" my sexual orientation and my gender identity.

When the pandemic started and I was in lockdown with my family, I had to run away from home so I could have a chance to survive. I was lost, scared, and I had no money or anywhere to stay. That's when I found Casa Frida.

They gave me a safe place to stay, helped me find mental and physical health services, and I was able to see all the doctors I needed to start taking hormones for my transition.

I also participated in workshops to learn more professional skills, which helped me find a paying internship.

Casa Frida's support has helped me achieve total financial independence – and that literally saved my life.

Since May, there have been 53 other people who, like me, were supported by Casa Frida. But the shelter opened as an emergency response to the pandemic and now funds are running dangerously low. They need your help to keep the amazing work going.

Can you donate to help keep Casa Frida open today?

As we all know, the coronavirus crisis is far from over and a lot of people still need lifesaving support from Casa Frida.

When word got out about the shelter, they started receiving violent threats from people saying that they will kidnap, abuse, or even kill the people at Casa Frida.

So they were forced to find a new and more secure location for the shelter. But that all came at a cost and now they're struggling to stay open.

But you can make a difference by donating today.

Your donation will help keep Casa Frida open for at least one more year, helping at least 100 more LGBT+ people in need in Mexico City.

Abrazos,
Theo
