organisation and strategy of the highly successful South American anarchist group
Federação Anarquista do Rio de Janeiro (FARJ), and what lessons and ideas we can
apply to our current political context. Have a full look at the article here:
https://www.redblacknotes.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/SydneyAncom_Bulletin_2_Oct2020.pdf
---- "Despite some elements of the political analysis of especifismo needing
clarification in FARJ's Social Anarchism and Organisation, the text is an
incredible manual on how to revive a classical, communist, class struggle
anarchism that enjoyed great popularity in the early twentieth cen-tury, whilst
revising its political and organisational errors. By calling for revolution, and
clearly outlining what a world might look like after it, especifismo brings
something to the political landscape which has mostly been lost: an actual vision
of the future. Our political imagination in society, for the most part, is a dead
one. Liberal incrementalism sees no real way to improve people's lives, it just
defines itself out of fear of a creeping right (that it allows to creep further).
Neo conservatives and fascists see threats and scape goats every where, create
them from thin air, and propose nothing positive but a psychotic destruction of
an imaginary enemy. And small-a anarchism, individualism or lifestyle anarchism
sees not much for society, no agitation, and not much outside of one's self. A
better world must be imagined, and importantly, especifismo is one the few tenets
that actually does."

Under the pretext of a new "quarantine", the French authorities have banned
protest actions of the "yellow vests" movement for the second week in a row. But
activists are not going to give up and continue to take to the streets. ---- On
October 31, when the next 103rd "act of protest" was planned, the Parisian police
banned the march of the "yellow vests" in the French capital
(https://actu.fr/ile-de-france/paris_75056/carte-gilets-jaunes-a-paris-une-manifestation-contre-le-confinement-interdite-par-la-police_37165784.html).
However, there were fragmentary reports of small protests in various cities. In
Lisieux, Normandy, on October 30, at 21.00 on the Place de la République, an
action organized by "vests" took place to keep small shops open. The protesters
used a megaphone. 9 people were fined by the police
(https://www.ouest-france.fr/normandie/lisieux-14100/lisieux-un-petit-groupe-de-gilets-jaunes-verbalises-pour-non-respect-du-confinement-7036201).
A similar action took place on October 31 in Luxay in the East of France; the
case was limited to a picket rally, the procession had to be canceled
(https://www.estrepublicain.fr/social/2020/10/31/les-gilets-jaunes-defendent-le-commerce-tres-seuls).
In Perpignan, on Victory Square, a small picnic was organized to protest against
quarantine
(https://www.lindependant.fr/2020/10/31/perpignan-le-pique-nique-anti-confinement-tue-dans-loeuf-9174912.php).
A small demonstration against quarantine took place in Vitry-le-François
(https://abonne.lunion.fr/id203223/article/2020-10-31/non-au-confinement-lappel-manifester-peu-suivi-vitry-le-francois).

In the city of Sete in the south of France, on October 31, at 18.00, dozens of
"yellow vests", teachers, employees, unemployed, artists gathered at the Frank
booth in Place Aristide Briand ... Some came with families and children. The
slogans were: "No new quarantine" , "Macron, Enough Nagging", "Stop the
Dictatorship" and "Long Live Freedom!" Literally 10 minutes later, the gendarmes
arrived, and the protesters dispersed, despite calls for a demonstration in the
city

On November 7, police again banned yellow vests in Paris and the provinces.
Nevertheless, demonstrations against government measures of the dictatorship and
in defense of education and health care took place as part of Act 104 in various
cities. The main theme in Paris was "No to the cruel quarantine", in Lyon - the
support of nurses (demonstration at the Bron hospital -

The Committee for the Defense of the Revolution in Rojava joined the
International Week of Action against Fascism. ---- Between November 1 and 8,
2020, within the Committee for the Defense of the Revolution in Rojava (VORR), we
joined the International Action Days for Rojava , to which the Rise Up 4 Rojava
platform called. Given the current situation, instead of public events, we
decided to share information every day about one project that can be supported at
a distance. A detailed summary of the possibilities of supporting the Rojava
revolution and other than now impossible mass events in the streets can be found
in the article published HERE . The following lines are a brief overview of what
you will find in the text, ie organizations, projects and campaigns that are
worth supporting.

Make Rojava Green Again

Make Rojava Green Again is a campaign by the Internationalist Commune and the
Committee on Ecology in the canton of Cizire, focusing on one of the main pillars
of the Rojava Revolution: ecology and environmental protection. The people
involved have built an academy with ecological education, they are dedicated to
afforestation of damaged areas and river basins, planting orchards and vegetable
gardens and the transition to renewable energy sources. It cleans watercourses by
separating waste so that water can be used to irrigate agricultural crops and
contributes to the protection of animals by banning intensive fishing and hunting
in reforested areas.

Kurdish Red Crescent (Heyva Sor and Kurd)

The Kurdish Red Crescent is an organization that covers the humanitarian needs of
northeastern Syria, and thus the autonomous territory of Rojava. It remains the
only local security and in all respects a full-fledged medical structure. It
covers medical needs, field aid logistics, provides training courses and manages
several refugee camps. So you can't do without a huge number of medics and
volunteers. It works only on financial and material contributions, which are
collected through sister organizations with offices in the EU and Syria. But he
would also not do without volunteers who are able to risk their own lives in
situations where they have to face bombings and shootings at the front. It
operates at the level of dozens of towns, villages and other localities.

Imposition of an arms embargo

Rojava has long been threatened by a Turkish invasion of Syria, even now that the
global interest that followed last year's invasion has cooled. Turkey is still a
member of NATO, and therefore formally our ally - despite being an authoritarian
state that suppresses domestic opposition, threatens its neighbors and pursues an
aggressive foreign policy. In Syria, it is responsible for the deployment of
mercenary and Islamist militias that commit war crimes and tyrannize the
population of Turkish-occupied areas. In addition, the Turkish army is also using
modern technology - recently, for example, it has been bombing Rojava from
drones, against which the local defense forces do not have an adequate response.
But it is possible to help at a distance: through the imposition of an arms embargo.

Internationalist commune in Rojava

The Internationalist Commune of Rojava (IC) is a team of people from all over the
world who, since 2017, have been helping directly in Rojava with various projects
and the development of the company. They cooperate with the local Youth Union of
Rojava (YCR) and try to connect foreign volunteers with Rojava structures. It is
a civilian organization with its own infrastructure, not a combat interbrigade.
It should be noted, however, that there are also foreign volunteers involved in
the defense efforts of the swarm units of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and
countless of them have laid down their lives in Syria.. IC works independently
and brings together people of different worldviews, backgrounds or religions. The
unifying element is the effort to help the Rojava revolutionary project, the
willingness to learn from the local radical-democratic movement and respect for
the independence and abilities of the locals. Volunteers do not try to bring
their opinions to the Middle East, on the contrary, they want to learn from local
practice and think about how to use it in another (their own) cultural context.
In general, the IC is an egalitarian, anti-fascist, and feminist organization
that rejects capitalism and environmental destruction.

Rojava University in Kámišlí

Rojava University was founded during the war in 2016 in Kámišlí and is one of the
visible results of the Rojava revolutionary process. It operates a typical system
of councils and commissions for Rojava, next to which stands an independent
council of women employed at the university and a student council. They can
autonomously enter into decision-making processes. Medical, technical,
agricultural, pedagogical, philological and humanities currently operate at UoR.

Rojava Information Center

Rojava Information Center(RIC) is an independent news agency based in Kámišlí in
northwestern Syria. The organization was founded in December 2018 by four foreign
volunteers from the ranks of journalists and media activists in response to the
announcement by US President Donald Trump that the United States will withdraw
its troops from the Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria. The
founders of RIC feared that the withdrawal of the Americans would be followed by
a Turkish invasion of Rojava, which would not be sufficiently and objectively
covered by the media. They realized that international information about what was
happening in Rojava is often fragmentary and distorted in one way or another,
which is due, among other things, to the inability of foreign journalists to
establish relations with local people. The RIC quickly built up a network of
correspondents throughout the Autonomous Government and gradually recruited local
journalists.

International volunteers and swarm activists often emphasize that in addition to
all the projects, solidarity campaigns and collections, there is one main way to
help them. Putting them into practice with our own activity where we live -
peacefully thousands of kilometers from the streets of Kobane, where ISIS
fanatics, the world of the world at Kámišlí University and all local people's
assemblies trying to lay the foundations of a better world in war-torn Syria
suffered a fatal defeat. A few years ago, the VORR was created from such a
motive, which was formed by people across the Czech autonomous leftist groups.

The quest for a free, fairer and more solidary society does not begin in Rojava
in northern Syria, but here and now. Now, at a time of pandemic crisis, when
established order is shaking, political chaos is growing and many people are
rightly concerned about health and livelihoods, this is doubly true.

For more than twenty years, this North American collective has maintained a free,
self-managed and secure tool at the service of citizen and revolutionary
movements. In 2018, the German police carried out a "Tarnac-style" crackdown
against its activists. Waste of time: due to systematic encryption, Riseup
technically cannot read e-mails passing through its servers. ---- Riseup is an
independent North American collective with a libertarian tendency, providing
e-mail accounts, mailing lists, VPNs and even instant messaging. It uses strong
encryption, anonymous services, and minimal data retention. It was founded by
activists in Seattle in 1999, after the WTO counter-summit. These services are
intended for individuals, non-profit organizations and activist groups.

First-class services for activists ...
Its mission is to support social change by combating social control and mass
surveillance through the distribution of secure tools. The goal: "to help create
a free society, a world with recklessness and freedom of expression, a world
without oppression or hierarchy, where power is shared equally. A project to
create democratic alternatives and practice self-determination by controlling our
own secure means of communication ".

Riseup operates from donations from its users. Although the collective favors
recurring donations (this is the format chosen by UCL to financially support
Riseup), these are not enough and every winter a donation campaign is organized.
Good news: for the year 2020, the collective notes a significant increase in
donations and various participations. The objective was to reach 600 donations in
March, they were 650, and Riseup already has 25% of the funds necessary for its
existence over one year. In its latest newsletter, the collective is delighted
and says it is comforted to hear serious talk of the general strike and the
ongoing mobilization.

Even though the servers are hosted mainly in the United States, and not in
Switzerland, the collective services offer protection comparable to that provided
by ProtonMail [1]. The main differences are as follows. First, emails going from
one Riseup box to another Riseup box are not automatically encrypted, the
collective instead encouraging the use of GPG encryption software. Then, all
Riseup services have always been under a free license (which is, let us remember
once again, both a crucial element of digital security and an important guarantee
of transparency and commitment). Another difference with ProtonMail, Riseup's
services are completely free and only rely on the generosity and commitment of
users.... but also a prime target for the police
Finally, a fourth major difference: the service is openly dedicated to far-left
and libertarian activism, which makes it a prime target for the intelligence
services... We are thinking in particular of two cases. A canary, in computer
security, is a trick to confirm that services have not been compromised by a
police search: at regular intervals, the organization publishes a "declaration of
the life of the canary", and users and users then know that all is well.

If, on the contrary, no declaration of the life of the canary is published on the
agreed date, it is because the canary is dead, in other words that the
organization is targeted by a police investigation which prevents it in
particular from communicating the 'very existence of the investigation
("obligation of silence", gag order in English). The term stems from the
historical use of canaries in coal mines to test the safety of working conditions
(toxic gases in particular).

In the winter of 2016-2017, Riseup's "canary" [2]was not updated and the
collective remained silent on this subject. Regulars of Riseup services began to
worry until in February 2017, the collective could finally communicate [3]. and
explain the bottom line. No real compromise of activist data in the end, but
since then the canary's survival criteria have been clarified and at the same
time the systematic encryption of member data on Riseup's servers has been
implemented. From now on, Riseup can no longer technically read your e-mails, and
therefore can no longer deliver the content to the FBI !

On June 20, 2018, the German association Zwiebelfreunde, which collects donations
for Riseup and uses its services, was raided on the basis of this motive. Further
searches and arrests followed, all the way to the Augsburg hackerspace.
Discreditation campaign and "Tarnac-style" motive: the militants targeted could
have witnessed the preparation of an attack. Just like in recent months with Bure
(and the wave of arrests among opponents of Cigéo), the German police seem to
ignore individual freedoms in favor of a fierce repression against social
movements and all people and organizations that can support them.

Donate within your means
This trend is worrying and shows that it is more important than ever to support
initiatives providing IT tools and services to organize independently: Riseup,
Tor, Tails, but also Mastodon, Mobilizon, Funkwhale, Peertube, Pixelfed and all
this wave of decentralized and federated tools that will not fail to be the next
to be worried by the police, whether through incompetence or malice.

If you use Riseup, do not hesitate to make a donation commensurate with your
means so that the collective continues its mission, and if you have not yet
opened a secure e-mail with Proton, Tutanota or Riseup [4], it is never too late!

CNT Teruel's position regarding the request for aid to the hospitality sector.
---- Faced with the mobilizations of the hospitality employers demanding more
direct aid to sustain a sector seriously affected by the crisis caused by the
pandemic, from CNT we want to raise the following questions: ---- According to
the latest annual action report published by the Labor Inspection (2018), the
hospitality sector is the absolute champion in the total number of infractions.
For example, in terms of Social Security, the hotel industry doubles the
runner-up (construction), in number of actions. 11% of the Inspection's actions
in this matter end up in sanction in this sector.
Opening helplines for the entire sector without taking this reality into account
is losing a unique opportunity to restructure a champion sector in labor
offenses. In the same way, this implies not stopping a practice that implies
privatizing profits when things are going well and socializing losses when they
come badly.
Direct or other types of aid must be quick, they must prioritize maintaining
employment, but they must also exclude those entrepreneurs or companies that have
been sanctioned at least in the last 5 years by the Labor Inspection.
We believe urgently that, for those establishments without penalties for
infractions in labor regulations, moratoriums should be articulated in the rental
of commercial premises that prioritize the right to work over private property.

...and the Front of Peoples in Defense of Water and Land of Morelos, Puebla and
Tlaxcala ---- Compañeras, and compañeros, compañeras Zapatistas, ---- Once again
we are surprised and excited to hear your word, calm, accurate, exciting,
seismic, rebellious, profound, wise. We are not a few colleagues who, both from
our union and from the CNT as a whole, have spent years, decades, following,
reading, listening and admiring. We have also shared international, galactic and
extra-galactic encounters in your communities and snails. Although as an
organization we have lacked structuring that support that we want to solve soon,
we have been following your steps and reflecting on your statements since January
1, 1994. We keep you in mind in our day-to-day life, both in "merely"
organizational matters and at the level of utopia, so important to walk and that
we may have somewhat forgotten.

The need to address the immediate and the concrete in each struggle, the social
emergency situation that only worsens, the doctrine of shock applied by the
capitalist hydra on our lives and the urgency of making ends meet, make it not
always easy to find the time and energy to look a little further and imagine what
that world will be like in which many worlds fit. How to approach, in our
geography and calendar, that new world that we carry in our hearts.

In this sense, your rebellious dignity, the democratic confederalism of our
Kurdish comrades or so many other experiences and knowledge of struggle in the
five continents, are showing that life can beat money. That the alternative to
this old world disorder passes through the autonomy of the peoples, through
transfeminism and decolonialism, ecology and cooperativism. No longer for the old
nation-states, not for extractivism, not for consumerism, not for individualism,
not for the free market, what will.

Perhaps in recent years we have become more and more aware of the many problems
that were not on the table before, empowering us more and more with all those
voices that were not heard before, all those communities that far from being
minorities, we are the majority. Of course, there is what remains, which is a lot
and is complex.

How to manage to articulate resistance and rebellion against our common enemy,
capitalist modernity, while keeping in mind that the same enemy places us in very
different places, prioritizing our lives through those many systems that is the
system: the cisheteropatriarchy, the racist-colonial system, classist and
ecocidal capitalism itself ... That is, how to be partners despite the (dis)
privileges that go through us, to together, stop this massacre and make life
worth joy and not the sorrow.

Along with all the collectives and organizations of that rebellious, popular and
libertarian Madriz, the Madriz of the PAH and the housing groups, feminist,
anti-racist and LGTBQ + collectives, migrant organizations, grassroots unions,
platforms in defense of public services, of the Madriz below and to the left, we
would like to join the organization of the welcome, support and accompaniment
that the indigenous delegations may need that from Mexico, 500 years after the
supposed conquest, will come to our city now our continent, to tell us that they
are still there, living, that is, resisting. We await you with joy and nerves.
Organizing.

With the permission of the late SubMarcos, Subcomandante Insurgente Moisés, the
General Command of the EZLN and all the Zapatista support bases, we say goodbye
adapting a classic ...
