various authors, around the theme of degrowth and related issues. ---- The

of all these tendencies which cross the movement of the degrowth. However, as
Murray Bookchin reminds us: "it is neither humanity nor industrial society that
threatens the biosphere, but the social relations induced by capitalism ... the
relations of domination ... because they legitimize the idea that man must
dominate nature."[1]
The risk is that the proliferation and richness of the participations lead to an
essentially spiritualistic individual quest matched with a need for rooting,
ignoring the above remarks. In short: a book to read and especially to go beyond
... so as not to sink into confusion.

The Kanak people in the fight against the plundering of mineral wealth - For
several weeks, a massive mobilization has been underway in New Caledonia -
Kanaky, the real name of the Pacific archipelago - to prevent the looting of
these mineral resources by multinationals . By extension, it is a fight against
colonialism, because Kanaky has large deposits of nickel. The company that
exploits them will hand over to a consortium financed by an international trader
supported by the French state, Trafigura[1], famous for having dumped toxic waste
in Côte d'Ivoire, poisoning tens of thousands of people . ---- The local
population is fighting so that these deposits do not enrich criminal
multinationals, but benefit the inhabitants, and are managed publicly. The
mobilization calls for a "country factory", that is to say a local factory,
against the takeover by Trafigura, with the slogan: "No to the sale of our land

The separatists fight by organizing pickets, blockades, strikes and
demonstrations. Clashes took place in Noumea. The affair becomes emblematic of
the colonial domination of the state and of foreign investors in Kanaky. And it
is for their sovereignty that the Kanaks and their allies are fighting. Several
sabotages took place, including a fire outbreak targeting the nickel plant.
The French state has sent gendarmes, armor and other means of militarized
repression to the Pacific. International flights have been suspended. The
gendarmes even fired live ammunition during a clash near the factory. Several
people were sentenced to prison, including a trade unionist involved in the case
of the takeover of the South factory. In addition, the partisans of French
Caledonia mounted militias and counter-barriers with firearms and French flags
without reaction from the authorities.
Raphaël Mapou, spokesperson for the separatists declared: "With us, control of
the soil cannot be negotiated. The control of resources, especially mining, is an
essential element of a country's sovereignty. Many colonized countries have seen
their raw materials looted and sold off by foreign states and multinationals
without their populations having a say. It is against all this that the Kanaks
have been fighting for several weeks.
