The anarchist federation, as co-organizer, invites you to a protest demonstration
in front of the German embassy so that we can express solidarity with activists
who have been occupying the 300-year-old Dannenroder Wald forest for more than a
year. ---- When: Wednesday 9 December 2020, from 14:00 ---- Where: in front of
the German Embassy in Prague (Vlašska 19, Prague) ---- The rare ecosystem of this
mixed forest is now to give way to the planned extension of the A49 motorway
route. This 40-year-old and very controversial project of completing the almost
50th German motorway is completely meaningless in the current context of the
climate crisis. At the same time, according to the decision of the German
administrative court, it contradicts the German and European directives on water
protection (there is a source of drinking water in the forest for the immediate
vicinity). Only large corporations benefit from this project, and it has only
drastically negative consequences for ordinary people, nature and the planet.
From the beginning of October, the occupation will be cleared by the police so
that the mined mining company can defeat as many ancient beeches as possible
until the end of February (only during this period the felling in Germany is
allowed). Despite the constant emphasis on safety over speed, the police resort
to unprecedentedly brutal practices, which make it clear that the lives of forest
activists are far from being taken into account:
* protesters;
* cuts clearly marked ropes securing people on tree structures (several people
have already fallen from trees because of this), does not let journalists and
often not even medics into the forest;
* the police used a taser against the activists on the structure at 20 meters,
which is especially dangerous at such a height, because the affected person loses
control of his own muscles;
* an activist who tried to occupy the mining machine was beaten unconscious by
the police with a baton;
* the police forced the inhabitant of one of the adjacent villages to strip naked
during a check on her own land.
In the interests of the greed of the capitalist system, the German police in
Dannenröd knowingly endanger the lives of those who refuse to be swallowed up by
it. The "green" government of the state of Hesse is passively watching. Come with
us to stand up to this injustice and express solidarity to the treetop activists.
