Dear comrades, we are pleased to invite you to the next general assembly of the
pro-federative Anarchist Congress. ---- The data of the place to be held will be
delivered by mail, upon registration. ---- It is recalled that in the last
congress it was determined that for its next version the registration of all
participants would be requested again, in addition to being interested in joining
the congress or the different commissions that emerge from it. That is, confirm
those who remain interested in participating, and thus update the registrations
that interact in the different communication channels. ---- Before completing the
form, it is important to keep in mind the first filter of the congress security
and horizontality protocol .
Finally, due to the current pandemic context, a health self-care protocol is
attached . We make a call to read it carefully and keep each of its points
present during the day.

Arizona -- Teachers in Phoenix, Arizona, in the Chandler Unified School District,
threatened a mass calling in sick in response to a decision by education
authorities to continue with face to face teaching. As a result the district was
forced to return its students, from preschool up to the 12th grade, to virtual
learning starting on January 6th through to January 19th. ---- A survey by the
Chandler Education Association indicated that 65% of 1,200 teachers did not feel
happy returning to in-person teaching. They are well aware that virtual learning
is not ideal, but feel that it is worth the temporary problems in order to get
COVID back under control. ---- This followed a demonstration by teachers and
their supporters outside the district board offices. Teachers in the Gilbert area
schools also threatened a sickout if classes resumed. See here for more info.
Chicago
Elsewhere, Chicago teachers staged a similar sickout. Teachers there also also
criticised the expectation that they teach simultaneously to in-person and
at-home students. More info here.

Two associative volunteers were attacked on December 12 when they closed the
associative and libertarian bookstore and library La Plume Noire. This umpteenth
episode of violence on the part of the far right reminds us that they are rife as
soon as we let our guard down. ---- Saturday, December 12 in the evening, two
volunteers from the PESE association (For social equality and ecology) closed the
curtain of the libertarian bookstore and library La Plume Noire after a day of
solidarity collection of clothes and toys when they were approached, taken to
task and then beaten by a dozen far-right thugs. ---- The modus operandi
indicates that the operation has been prepared and that the volunteers have
fallen into a real trap. The Union Syndicale Solidaires (whose two volunteers
were also activists) as well as the UCL which self-manages the bookstore
immediately called for a popular rally on the following Sunday, December 20 on
the Esplanade de la Croix-Rousse.
Our comrades were ambushed on December 12 at La Plume Noire, in Lyon.
Although not claimed, this cowardly aggression bears the signature of the far
right. Very active in the city of Lyon for ten years, it has multiplied acts of
violence since this summer: fire in mosques, ransacking of the restaurant "Le
Tonton Burger", threat against PCF premises, etc.
This new aggression is also revealing of the impunity in which the radical right
activists act in the city of Gones: the Traboule and the Agogé, the room and the
boxing hall of Generation Identity are used, in the sight of all and all, from
place of organization to a movement which tries to impose by violence and terror
against minorities and the social movement its political project.
A renewal of unitary work is needed
On December 18 in Chalon-sur-Saône, on the sidelines of Act IV of undocumented
migrants, four PCF and Cimade activists were also attacked by young fascists. It
is time that we everywhere reaffirm our absolute rejection of extreme right-wing
violence.
This is not exercised blindly, it targets minorities, voluntary associations of
the social movement who work for a better world without discrimination, far from
their vision of the world made of violence towards "others". Faced with these
aggressions it is more urgent than ever, in Lyon and everywhere else, that the
libertarian, anti-fascist, anti-capitalist organizations and the unions of
struggle join forces to block the poison of the extreme right.
The field work of the anti-fascist groups, of VISA (Vigilance and anti-fascist
initiatives) at the trade union level, of the Horde at the level of monitoring
and information, and many others, is more necessary than ever and even essential,
but this is still insufficient.
Today, locally and nationally, we need to relearn how to work together. UCL will
support and invest in all unitary initiatives aimed at combating the extreme
right in the political, trade union and social fields.

This Thursday, January 14, the Prime Minister gave us his self-satisfaction
number again. As the situation worsens, Castex welcomes the strategy adopted in
recent weeks of a 6 p.m. curfew. This measure is therefore extended to the entire
metropolitan territory. France is shadokise, apart from going to work at work and
still consuming a little, even on Sundays, nothing exists now. While we are
running towards even more difficult days, the government takes the worst decision
for the population but the one which is most in line with the interests of
Capital. What does the government offer us? Go to work... for those who can still
go to work. Students, unemployed, retirees, frail and / or isolated people just
have to wait for better days with the crumbs they are generously granted and hope
that effective vaccines will arrive. time. And if vaccination is the right
solution, today many are those who doubt, doubts that will certainly not be swept
away by the mistakes of this government which told us a few months ago that masks
were useless ...
The announcements are linked without any plausibility concerns. Blanquer
continues to deny the evidence of contamination in schools and accumulates
eccentric announcements. School tests ? Screening capacities will be greatly
strengthened, we are told, with the objective of carrying out 300,000 tests per
week in schools. Knowing that since November only 100,000 have been carried out
(while a million tests were stored at the ministry) and that National Education
is 12 million students and 1 million workers ! As for evaluating the most
suffering students ? Who will do it, according to what criteria ? These
announcements are completely above ground and do not respond to current emergencies.
Since we only have our places of work to meet other people, let's go ! If we can
only work, we will take the opportunity to organize ourselves even more with our
colleagues. Dates of mobilizations have already been set in January: the 21st in
health, the 23rd against layoffs, the 26th in education, the 28th in energy, the
16th and 30th against the freedom-killing laws and on February 4 a
inter-professional and inter-union mobilization.
Confinement or curfew, nothing will be satisfactory anyway as long as it is a
question of safeguarding above all the interests of the capitalists. Their
interests are not ours. The priority in the face of the health crisis today is
the socialization of the entire health system and the production of vaccines.
Starting today, let's self-manage our health before tomorrow self-manage all of
our lives.

The notorious "revolutions" with the change of one ruler to another do not solve
social problems and only distract people from the struggle for their
socio-economic interests. A sad proof of this fact is what is happening in
Tunisia, the country where the notorious "Arab Spring" was launched. ---- On the
eve of the anniversary of the so-called "revolution" in Tunisia, a 4-day lockdown
was introduced. In various cities across the country, protesters erected
barricades and fought the state's repressive forces. In some places, people
turned to the spontaneous expropriation of goods from stores. ---- According to
the German newspaper taz , on the night of January 17 in many cities of Tunisia,
there were severe unrest. In Kairouan, Sousse, Hamam Lif and Hai Etadamen, a poor
suburb of the capital, hundreds of young people attacked police officers and set
fire to tires and trash cans.
"There were the same number of people on the street as in 2011, before the fall
of the Ben Ali regime," said an eyewitness from Sousse. A 34-year-old woman
watched as a group of young people in Qewartal Houmt al-Qued used heavy tools to
break into the entrance to a branch of the Aziza supermarket chain. The iron
gates gave way and the police retreated; the supermarket was destroyed. Young
people living in the neighborhood filmed what was happening and posted the
pictures on Facebook and other social media.
Before the riots, police arrested a large number of men who ignored Thursday's
state of emergency. Under the pretext of an increase in the number of coronavirus
cases, the government introduced a lockdown in the country. With the closure of
cafes, bazaars and individual shops, many young people in poor neighborhoods lost
their day jobs.
Officially, the unemployment rate in Tunisia is 16%, but among people under 30
years old it is several times higher. Last week, young people in Hay-Etadhamen
told taz that the night curfew, already imposed in December from 20:00, has
caused tensions with the police. So far, spontaneous protests have been directed
against police action, but there is a possibility that they could result in real
social unrest.
On Saturday, a crowd of over 1,000 approached a police station in Hai Etadhamen.
The armored vehicles of the National Guard were called. Repressive forces,
outnumbered by the protesters, tried to divide the crowd into small groups using
tear gas. There were no political slogans, but hatred of the country's political
elite on the streets is widespread (Based on materials from
