The limits of state-capitalist dystopia and the liberating perspective in the
midst of a severe economic, environmental, health crisis ---- Covid 19:Accelerator of a global financial crisis ---- It was in March 2020, when the
Covid-19 pandemic came to trigger the outbreak of a new, even more widespread
episode of the global financial crisis, but also to highlight in the clearest way
the problems that the majority of humanity state and capitalist dystopia but also
its inherent inability to produce solutions when they do not involve the
continuation of profitability for the capitalists.
The depth and extent of this last episode of the crisis that followed the already
declining course of the world economies, can be easily understood from the
official data of states and international economic organizations; the recession
of 2009, with its known results, reached 0.1%, while in 2020 world GDP decreased
by about 4.5%. Huge rates of unemployment, declining exports, rising global debt
of more than $ 280 trillion, and the sudden braking of trade and tourism bring
the current capitalist crisis in comparison only to that of the Great Depression
of 1929.
The often contradictory strategies developed by states around the world have as a
common denominator the imposition and deepening of their power and the continued
profitability of capital, the use of the pandemic as a cause of repression and
restriction of freedoms, the violent the redistribution of wealth from the bottom
up, the complete dismantling of public health systems and the uprooting of labor
and social acquis.
The Greek case
Since the outbreak of the last episode of the financial crisis in 2010, the state
and capital in an effort to preserve any of their profits or rather reduce their
losses, have launched a full-blown attack on the world of work and at the same
time drastically reduced the benefits of social reproduction. In this way they
made it clear that they have no intention of contributing to the reproduction of
a labor force which, due to the economic crisis, had become surplus and therefore
useless to capital.

With the outbreak of the health crisis, the above tactic became even clearer. The
measures of the state management of the pandemic were formed for the benefit of
the capital and throughout the health crisis the state priority, apart from the
armament programs, is the strongest strengthening of the police / repressive
mechanism in animate and inanimate potential.
According to ELSTAT data, the recession for 2020 reached 8.2% of GDP, while the
debt has exceeded 208%. At the same time, estimates for a return to productive
activity in the pre-Coronavirus era, as expected, have not been confirmed and
announcements of growth (even for this damn growth evangelized by political
administrators) are falling short.
The officially registered unemployed exceed 1,000,000 with the majority being
women, at the same time as hundreds of thousands remain underemployed or have
been living on one-year unemployment benefit, or are in the midst of ongoing
job-unemployment recycling soon time lapses. According to 2019 data, more than
3,000,000 people have passed or are close to the threshold of poverty or social
exclusion, a number that is expected to have increased dramatically in the past year.
With these data, the management of the pandemic and the economic crisis by the
Greek state and specifically by the government of New Democracy had and has very
specific class and repressive characteristics. The pandemic was a golden
opportunity for the rulers to quickly legislate everything that was necessary for
the further profitability of capital. At the same time, in order to avoid future
social outbursts from the accumulated rage, they tried to impose a cemetery
silence on the society, to disperse the resistance, to terrorize the people who
claimed and challenged, at the same time in the name of non-spread of the virus
and political activity. The government has proven to be very capable of slicing
rights, freedoms, wages and incomes for the lower social strata and the working
class, but at the same time that it was "impossible" to build, even for the
press, an elementary plan for the protection of society and the NSS. from the
pandemic, as the scales were always leaning towards profit.
Health Crisis and National Health System
At the time of writing, at least 13,000 people are estimated to have contracted
Covid-19 and lost their lives in Greece, while many thousands are our fellow
human beings who, weeks or months after their illness, have significant health
problems, as well as those who have lost. their lives or saw their health
deteriorate because they did not have the required medical care due to the fact
that dozens of hospitals were turned into hospitals of one disease. The
government success story of the first two months lasted little, even in the eyes
of those who remained fanatical supporters of government policy.
The unconditional opening of the market and borders for two consecutive tourist
seasons, the zero protection measures in the workplace - especially the mass ones
-, the minimal means of transport where tens of thousands of workers are stacked
daily, the lack of staff and infrastructure in schools with 25-member sections,
the complete concealment of the religious darkness of the open churches and Holy
Communion (with the example of October 26, 2020 in Thessaloniki being silenced),
were the main points of mass transmission of the disease to the general population.
At the same time, the applause from the balconies could not hide the truth about
the state of the National Health System: lack of staff and equipment, cut
licenses to the already exhausted health workers, dismissals (non-renewals) of
contractors, vindictive movements and disciplinary for combatants, primary care,
inequalities in the distribution of vaccines, 80% cut in surgeries and clinics
for other diseases, inconceivable amounts of compensation in private clinics
while they choose patients who do not fit in public hospitals, PPPs, private
sidewalks, corridors, examination centers within public structures and
announcements for mergers of hospital departments and health centers.
It has been since last November when doctors began to reveal the common secret,
which the government has been trying and is trying to hide; will have the
"luxury" of the opportunity to live...
Always with the rationalism that liberates from obscurantism, always with the
science which, by overthrowing the power of the state and capital, can make the
greatest contribution to the interest of the social base, always against the
state and capitalist dictates based on the perpetuation and gigantism of
inequalities.
In the midst of all this, scientific committees appointed by the government came,
not to devise a strategy for the protection of society, but precisely to justify
its every political decision.
With the main form of dealing with a global health crisis - which as such
requires international coordination and responses but mainly social forms of
understanding and collective action within the current situation - "individual
responsibility", the government and appointed committees of infectious diseases
have added fuel to the fire. obscurantism and irrationality.
At the same time that infectious disease specialists themselves said that 80% of
the virus is transmitted indoors, in many cases they exceeded the limits of their
scientific field and argued on management decisions such as those that required
the continued operation of churches in order for the government to maintain its
electoral cushion in the conservative and Christian orthodox climax, but even
more so in those that required the smooth operation of industrial units,
construction capital and many aspects of economic activity, with workers firmly
stacked in the workplace and in the MMM.
At the same time, the daily press conference of the Committee on Infectious
Diseases, Civil Protection, the Ministry of Health and often the Ministry of
Civil Protection has sometimes entered the process of scientifically dressing up
arguments for implementing measures such as unprecedented bans on rallies and
demonstrations. while remaining silent in the face of any measure that could
actually protect the general population and that would cost, either to the state
or to capital. SMS, four-day bans on November 17 and December 6, fines, arrests,
tear gas and sticks to protesters, gathered or even to those who made the mistake
of sharing a text, despite receiving each necessary measure, did not constitute,
Imposing a total traffic ban on the population and mass confinement of people in
their homes is not a comprehensive strategy to deal with the pandemic. In this
case, the state followed the practice of lockdown not with the prospect of
monitoring the pandemic as much as it is strengthened in terms of infrastructure
(strengthening of ICUs, provision of consumables and medicines) and -of course-
Public Health staff rather than mainly as a rough patch for the managerial
weaknesses of governments. The lockdown and the additional measures, as
implemented, proved to be ineffective health based on the evolution of the

acceptance of the inability of the state to build a system of diagnosis,
prevention and treatment of the virus in neighborhood,
The issue of vaccine management is moving in a similar direction. The
implementation of a vaccination program in terms of corruption and with the
various party and government officials overtaking health and vulnerable groups in
the order of priority, the permanently darkening positions, as a consequence of
capitalist rivalries of the pharmaceutical industry, which , but also the
tragically slow and unstable methodology of dispensing vaccines per formulation
and "age group" came to tie in with the immediate consequent enforcement of the
obligation (in the form of exclusion from social and economic activities or even
redundancies). This sequence of steps in the vaccination strategy only succeeded
in pouring water into the mill of darkness, of irrationality and the emerging
inverted image of state and capitalist domination, expressed through a rhetoric
of "self-determination, individual rights and freedoms" which in this case,
however, has nothing to do with society and the needs of the oppressed. But such
a freedom, that is, an individual freedom that does not take into account
collective liberation and social solidarity, is not a real freedom but expresses
an individualistic conception and a philotomarism that are, after all, products

At the same time, and given now after almost two years of pandemic that the state
is not interested in the protection of human life, nor in social solidarity, it
is clear that through the obligation that is placed again in terms of "individual
responsibility" the rinsing is attempted from state responsibilities for the
death policy implemented since the beginning of the pandemic.
Essentially, the conditions under which the vaccination program is implemented
are the last button but also the perfect alibi for the government in order not to
proceed with any other substantial measures. This is also evident in the latest
measures concerning the exclusion of those who have not been vaccinated from
social activities, culminating in the abolition of free and massive rapid tests
for those who have not been vaccinated. These measures not only highlight the
state's indifference to social health and the effective response to the pandemic,
but at the same time reaffirm the determination of government decisions based on
the needs and requirements of capital. The government, with full consistency in
anti-social policy, chooses not to enhance public health,
What people need is the overthrow of the rotten state-capitalist edifice to open
vaccine patents, to bring the pharmaceutical industry under labor and social
control, to produce and develop vaccines and treatments for both Covid-19. as
well as for other diseases aimed at protecting human life and not the gain of a
handful of parasites that raise and lower the prices of vaccines depending on the
buyer.
It is a crime against humanity and a butter on the bread of Western governments
that in developing countries single-digit percentages of the population have been
vaccinated, at the same time as they themselves prepare, nurture and take to the
streets neoliberals, fascists, religious people who metaphysical hue, reproducing
the individualist capitalist conception of individual rights placed above and
outside the collective interest of the underworld. It is a crime against humanity
that in EU countries and the developed world, vaccination has extended even at a
young age, while at the same time they are indifferent to the constant
circulation of the virus and its mutations in the "third world" countries that
will return to us a little later, mutated and possibly even more resistant. ,
Science is not a neutral concept, nor does it exist in an ideological and social
"vacuum". On the contrary, it is colored and defined by the dominant
socio-political context. A scientific issue concerns us all to the extent that it
becomes a social issue, that is, when its solution depends on the prevailing
model of social organization and the existing form of social organization is an
obstacle to the development of science for the benefit of all mankind. Today
bosses misuse technology for their own designs and for profit, while it could be
an important tool for the freedom of human society. It is therefore necessary for
science to free itself from the shackles of class and to stop developing as a

racists, fascists, sexists, obscurantists and anti-rationalists who are part of
the side that denies the vaccination that the state is essentially creating a

pandemic treatment, safe work, violation of freedoms, exploitation of the
pandemic to "pass" dozens of laws that abolish rights and acquis of centuries) in
completely misleading and dangerous ways that have nothing to do with social
needs and the demands of class and social movements.
This anti-social mob is in fact creating a reactionary front of pandemic deniers
who take to the streets and protest under the guise of the vaccine, while
expressing conservative, backward ideologies directed against the scientific
conquests and achievements of the human world. throughout their long history, he
writes in his serf the most reactionary parts of the national body. It is
organized by well-known fascist leaders (who in recent years had been completely
crushed and marginalized after the militant and decisive stance of the
anti-fascist movement in the streets) and (para) religious organizations, trying

It is the movement's duty not to accept health exclusion either within the
"developed" (capitalist) states, where the vast majority of the poorest strata do
not have full access to health care, or even more so in the developed countries

movement to fight for Public and Quality Health for locals and immigrants and for
protection measures in the workplace, in schools, in the MMM, in universities. It
is the duty of the movement to listen to the concerns and the lack of trust in
the pharmaceutical companies by a portion of the population but also to continue
to stand with a high level of awareness towards the health of the social base and
the resilience of the health system.
It is the movement's duty to crush the fascists who are trying to regain ground
by taking to the streets as hares of the state and trying to crown social anger
in class-neutral, if not bourgeois, dark places. It is the movement's duty not to
reproduce the narrative of "individual responsibility" and to continue to
highlight the enormous political responsibilities of government and capital in
dealing with the tragic pandemic.
It is the task of the movement to highlight the ceiling of the dominant economic
and social model of organization of society, which can not find solutions to the
problems of the social majority.
The pandemic as a golden opportunity for the infamous reforms
The government of ND, taking advantage of the condition of retreat and defense of
the social-class movement and the wider condition of the pandemic that acted as a
catalyst for the acceleration of the implementation of anti-labor, reactionary
and totalitarian policies, is trying to complete a series of .
Key points based on the bills we saw in the last 1.5 years:
At work, the new labor bill seeks to increase the income of the capitalists by
legitimizing the intensification of the exploitation of the workers and by

At the same time, the state is constantly reducing the insurance contributions
for the bosses, enlarging the black holes of the insurance funds, while assuming
for tens of thousands of employees the burden of their insurance coverage or part
of their salary through OAED programs, covering a timeless desire of capital.
The new insurance bill moves in the same direction, which ratifies a system of
private pensions for the new generations, removing the guarantee on a collective
terms of a decent pension for all, at the same time as the retirement limits are
constantly increasing.
As if the above bills were not enough, the government announced the humiliating
2% increase in salary from 2022, as if the working conditions they are going to
impose can be balanced with 13 euros per month. Galloping unemployment, rising
prices for basic necessities but also for water and energy tariffs, the inability
to meet basic needs for much of society (housing, food, water, electricity),
combined with the effects on the economy due to the pandemic of covid foretell
the impoverishment of a large section of society and its further impoverishment.
In the housing, the government, having full knowledge of the above conditions and
orchestrating them, did not hesitate to lift the restrictions on conducting
auctions. Having passed the new Bankruptcy Code since last year, which frees up
auctions and evictions of first homes and forcibly suspends them due to covid, it
now declares in every way that the banks' profits are above the coverage of a
basic human need, this housing.
Thousands of homes are at risk of being left homeless and thousands of families
left homeless, and even the supposedly favorable arrangements effectively exploit
the need for people to keep their homes, as they will be able to maintain their
housing for rent without having to pay deducted after the value of the property
for its repurchase by its owners!
In the field of education, the developments were similar. The reforms that
culminated in the two anti-education bills last winter and summer in the midst of
closed schools and universities are trying to give the final blow to the public
character of education, to further slash any social role it may have within a
system characterized by injustice and exploitation (as it is obvious that today
education, being in the hands of domination, only has a liberating character) and
to raise even greater class barriers in education.
The voting of the Minimum Admission Base (MBA), the establishment of the
university police, the introduction of control and monitoring systems on campus
and the imposition of a disciplinary code were the pillars of the first
educational restructuring. The government, through this educational bill, on the
one hand seeks to deprive universities of their role as a field of social and
political ferment, to terrorize students and to bury their struggles and radical
collective processes, and at the same time, to exclude thousands of students from
public education, pushing those who can afford it with fragmented and dubious
professional rights into the private sector. The consequences of the
establishment of the EBE were, unfortunately, soon seen,

without limits through the process of creating and then constantly meeting new
needs. The objectively finite possibilities of the planet are ignored and now the
consequences beyond the fauna and flora, hit us as well. The catastrophic fires
in Greece but also the emergencies appeared all over the world (deadly floods in
Germany and fires in Italy, Turkey and Algeria, dead in Canada due to
unprecedented heatwave in the area and mass death of marine animals due to high
temperatures in those areas), has opened a debate in public debate about the
consequences of the environmental crisis. The servants of state mechanisms and
capitalism, shed crocodile tears for these phenomena and their consequences and
invoke them as tools to promote new areas of profitability, covered by the
ideology of green growth.
The figures of the burned areas in the Greek territory (over 1.2 million acres
burned in the fires of 2021 until the end of August) testify to the criminal
oligarchy of the state mechanisms and the complete dissolution of the forest fire

repression. The death of a volunteer firefighter and the injury of dozens of
others in fires, the destruction of much of the country's forest wealth in a few
days and the death of thousands of animals, burned houses, unemployment and
poverty to which thousands of residents of areas such as the North are driven

The destruction of the environment in order to serve the interests of capital is,
of course, a regular tactic of capitalism, but also a prominent plan of the

exploitation of waste incineration, without taking into account the environmental

A priority for the Greek state is the strengthening of militarism. The largest

Greece with Israel, which daily kills Palestinians, the military dictatorship of
Egypt, Cyprus continues to set its own flames in the flames of local rivalries
with Turkey, which in turn maintains military presence in several areas outside
its borders. Both Greece and Turkey, through different strategies, hope for a

At the same time, gender-based violence is escalating rapidly, with dozens of
cases of abuse and homicide occurring recently. The outbreak of the pandemic,
which led to the forced confinement of women and children in their homes with
their abusers, led to an increase in calls to SOS hotlines and incidents of
domestic violence worldwide (+ 4% in 2020 compared to 2019 in Greece). The
emergence of some of them, unfortunately, has not been able to curb the rage of
gender-based violence, which alleges the state's indifference to inadequate
victim support structures and tolerance of sexist and racist attitudes regarding
gender and sexual preference.
The mechanisms themselves, to which the victims of sexual violence are called,
turn out to be criminal either due to the indifference of the police (which when
it gets the spotlight is already late, as happened with the murder of the
31-year-old in Daphne, where police, while she was called a few days before
rushing to her home for an incident of domestic violence, simply passed by the
scene, without investigating the incident) or because of their cover-up and
abusive acts.
The human trafficking ring that was uncovered after the incident in Ilioupoli,
where the 19-year-old girl managed to escape from the house where a cop had
locked her up, abused her and extradited her is the latest evidence of these acts.
None of this is impressive since, at the same time, the state itself is passing
the bill on compulsory child custody, trapping thousands of women and children
who experience domestic violence forever with their abusers in a
well-orchestrated and methodical escalation. of women by the same who appears to
fight it.
Incidents of gender-based violence are not contradictions of the capitalist
system, but tragic expressions of patriarchy as a parallel mechanism of social
oppression, of gender discrimination, of the class, gender and racial
inequalities they cultivate. The devaluation of women's labor, the overwhelming
superiority of unemployed women, the violence of trafficking to which locals and
immigrants are subjected, rapes, murders are the fruits of patriarchy as a
cornerstone of the world of power that serve ideological and / or material
divisions from below, the extermination of women and the eventual reproduction of
the capitalist system. That is why their complete annihilation can only exist in
a liberated society,
Upgraded internal repression is the condition and necessary condition for all the
above crimes that have been committed lately in every field of social life for
the sake of the further profitability of the capitalists and the survival of the
exploitative system itself.
The current government bases its survival on the development of an acute
repressive strategy, making extensive use of authoritarian practices to overcome
social reactions. The bill on demonstrations passed last summer aimed at curbing
protests was the first act of a crackdown.
After the government met resistance to its implementation, it instrumentalized
the pandemic, imposing a series of authoritarian measures and controls (ban on
traffic and marches, while observing the sanitary measures, unnecessary fines and
beatings by cops, beatings of protesters) of public health.
After all, a government that sacrifices billions of euros for the purchase of
repression / military equipment and recruitment for the army and police in the
midst of a pandemic in a country with underdeveloped and understaffed public
health facilities can not deceive anyone of its alleged concern about of
coronavirus in demonstrations where all health protection measures were observed.
In the same direction are the tightening of the penal code, the heavy convictions
of anarchist-communist fighters, the constant upgrades of the terrorist, the
increasing patrols and the increasingly militarized police in the streets, the
marginal end of the hunger strike. before his death for something he was entitled
to and which the state continues to deny him.
The Greek state, the whole of the western world and the sovereigns of the world,
realizes what is coming, what is already happening in many Latin American
countries, on the streets of the USA a few months ago, in the fields of India and
are fortified materially and legally.
Despite the initial numbness, tens of thousands of people, either in the
demonstrations for D. Koufontinas, or in the labor strikes, or in the student
marches, or in the mass marches against the state repression, managed and gave
answers that kept the dignity of the social base upright and , until the next
attempt, the air of the planners of repression.
The breaking of the bans in the marches of November 17 and December 6, in the
rallies in support of the demands of the health workers, in the mass student
marches against the educational bill, in the actions of solidarity to the hunger
striker D. Koufontina in Nea Smyrna against the needless and brutal beating of a
man by cops made it clear: Class anger, as well as social solidarity, the fight
for justice and a better world will continue to take to the streets, legally or
illegally.
The world state-capitalist system is getting sick and is becoming a system that
fits fewer and fewer: Let's overthrow it!
In the last year and a half, it has become even clearer that the state and
capitalist power, trying to maintain its dominance over societies and its
privileges and profitability, is rapidly transforming into a model of organizing
social life that protects and concerns more and more a few.
The tragic attempts to manage the crisis of our time, a crisis that manifests
itself at multiple levels (economic, health, environmental, value, etc.) prove
that the rulers are unable to formulate an elementary long-term strategy for the
survival of the population. They are content with short-term solutions,
interested only in the temporary perpetuation of their power and the profits of
the next months and years, at best, decades, with the consequences of their
policies mortgaging the future of billions of people and the planet itself.
Responsible for the huge inequalities and discrimination that are escalating,
responsible for the inhuman living conditions in the third world but now also in
the western backward, responsible for the crises and their effects on the lives
of the working social majority.
Highly capable of organizing wars, most capable of carrying out repressive plans,
most capable of violent impoverishment but also of intensifying the work of even
more people. Unable, however, to give the slightest realistic answer to the
problems of the peoples.
We live it with the overcrowded hospitals, we live it with the fires, we live it
with the millions of unemployed.
Capitalism is rotting and survives only by spreading death and misery,
exploitation and violence, something that no managerial ("pink" or any shade of
social democratic) version could or would like to overthrow.
We would be naive to believe that his full-blown attack on the rights and
conquests of our class would stop voluntarily, the dozens of bills of recent
years are living proof of what is to come.
The life and dignity of the social majority has been violently underestimated for
more than ten years on a global scale. Environmental sustainability is at stake.
The ongoing economic downturn, geopolitical tensions, austerity policies,
political stalemate, the effects of climate change, are the context and reasons
why people with different cultures, civilizations, and political backgrounds
choose common means of struggle. Uprisings, demonstrations, strikes and mass
clashes with upgraded media have been a reality for years all over the world and
we must correctly read the common material causes behind the temporary causes. We
must lay those foundations where these uprisings will create cracks in the
existing and will not work exponentially by feeding back on defeatism and
frustration. The social base feels in its skin the essence of capitalism without
requiring the recruitment of any expert to explain it with books, lectures,
analyzes and articles. The ground is more fertile than ever to explicitly pose
the dilemma of "capitalism or the revolutionary transformation of society."
It is the uprisings and struggles themselves, it is the same social conditions
locally and globally that highlight the need for unity and organization, the need
to build a revolutionary plan, a plan that will answer the immediate problems of
the world working class and which will bring to the fore a different political
conception of the future of humanity, of the organization of social life and the
economy. Which will again put on the horizon of our struggles the prospect of
social revolution and the building of a society classless and stateless, a
society without exploitation, oppression, classes and wars, discrimination based
on gender and race. Not just as our proclaimed position,
From the molecular resistances and demands that will bring the small victories
we so much need to the struggle with the central state and capitalist choices,
that is, with the whole state-capitalist edifice, our organization in every
social field, the revival of trade unions , student assemblies, student
associations, neighborhood resistance networks are a prerequisite along with the
political organization but also the frontal and unifying work of collectives and
organizations. To cut the "illusions" from the root for the role of any social
democracy, to believe in our own forces, to organize new struggles, to set up new
strike blocks and new roadblocks.
Together with the fire victims who with their self-action managed to save what
the state wanted to deliver to the flames, together with the health workers who
fight for Public Health without closing their mouths, together with the
unemployed and the workers who live with crumbs and in limits of survival, along
with immigrant women who are incarcerated and excluded, along with students and
pupils who see increasingly higher class barriers to education, along with
political prisoners.
As part of the movement, the oppressed, the working class and the social
majority, as the flesh from the flesh of the wronged of this world, starting this
year's TIF demonstration, we call for solidarity, organization and counterattack.
