In recent months, the New Democracy government has intensified its predatory
attack on the social base, taking advantage of the Covid-19 pandemic and anemicsocial class resistance. In a short period of time we saw the conquests that were
won through hard and bloody struggles being lost, as a result of which we went
back many decades to a century back in terms of rights. The culmination is the
official abolition of the 8-hour period, the introduction of unpaid overtime, the
consolidation of individual employment contracts, the reduction of strikes and
the criminalization of militant trade union action. The government is currently
working on the next blow to the education community with a new reactionary bill,
as well as the privatization of supplementary insurance.
During all this time, the state has proved once again that it cares for the
interests of the ruling class. The disintegrated public health system, cuts in
public spending on welfare, the gradual privatization of health, speculation and
rampant competition in the pharmaceutical industry have cost the lives of many
poor people who are excluded daily from their benefits due to their class status.
are public, free and free to access to ensure a dignified life for all. The ND
government has made the policy of rescuing and strengthening big business a
priority, fulfilling the wishes of the owners of large clinics and the bosses of
the tourism industry. He stuffed the regime media with money, to incessantly
propagate the narrative of individual responsibility and to lick the government
and its executives, in order to obscure the criminal responsibilities of the
deeply class policy pursued by the government, to manipulate and incriminate
society. In addition, it spent a large part of the annual state budget on
armaments expenditures that further deepen the Greek state's involvement in
imperialist rivalries and war preparations, while in the interior priority was
given to recruiting police officers and EPOs, upgrading and expanding its
equipment. Putting society on ice with health-related lockdowns, at a time when
people are crowded every day, in the absence of infrastructure and security
measures, in workplaces and MMMs,
More than 1.2 million acres were burned this summer, entire ecosystems and public
property were destroyed, thousands of animals were killed in fires, two people
were killed and dozens were injured. The state took care to cut the funds that
would go to the fire brigade and completely neglected the taking of forest fire
protection measures, while it passed an anti-environmental law which provides a
lot of facilities for more direct and flexible licensing of investments related
to green development and energy. The effectiveness of the social
self-organization and self-action of the fire victims, the volunteers and the
solidarity surpassed the incompetence, indifference and obstruction of the state
mechanism, which is responsible for this incalculable catastrophe. He is
responsible not only for the irresponsible management of the issue, but also
because he is a key pillar of the capitalist system that subjugates nature to the
needs of capital and its profitability, plundering the natural environment, to
pave the way for profitable business activities and investments. It is obvious
that the capitalist mode of production, including the so-called green growth, is
opposed to the viability of the planet.
Incidents of abuse and homicide have risen sharply. This was undoubtedly
supported by the many months of confinement of victims with their abusers in
their homes, the inadequacy or absence of mechanisms and infrastructure to
support women, the indifference and many times the concealment of incidents by
state auxiliary mechanisms. At the very least, public denunciations of such
incidents and their political imprinting on the streets through demonstrations
and protest rallies are a positive legacy for the feminist movement and women's
struggles. At the root of the problem, however, is patriarchy, which is
inextricably linked to capitalism, as it is a key parameter for the separation of
the working class. the cultivation of inequalities within it and the reproduction
of the capitalist system itself. However, the government also passed a law on the
mandatory custody of children, which will inevitably perpetuate and reproduce the
phenomena of domestic violence and abuse, since women and children will have no
way out.
As the pandemic progresses we see the birth and empowerment of a dark and
irrational pole with apparent far-right political hegemony. This pole stood
around the axis of anti-vaccination and gathered in its lines a diverse and
orderly audience. Without prejudice to the class policies of the government and
the system it serves, this reactionary ego has made the self-determination of the
body and individual liberties its flag, seen, however, through a distorted prism
purely petty-bourgeois and individualistic. The backlash of the government and
its controlled committee of infectious diseases has fueled skepticism and denial
of vaccination to a large section of society. This forms a convenient adversary
for the government, which will become the scapegoat that will disorientingly wash
away the deterioration of the public health system. After all, a constant
requirement of capital is the gradual privatization of public welfare structures
that were secured through the struggles of the working class. Because, even
health under capitalism is considered a commodity and a source of profit for
business groups. On the one hand, we are against compulsion as an extortionate
measure involving social exclusion and dismissal, on the other hand, we recognize
that shielding the public health of the community in the midst of a pandemic is a
highly collective issue, which therefore requires empathy and response. We must
not, however, leave the slightest room for the development of a fascist movement,
In this treaty, the dipole of bipartisanship and the change of government is
revived through the assignment of the parliamentary elections. The logic of the
lesser evil returns, vain hopes and false promises are cultivated again. Trade
unionism has become largely subservient to parties, governments, and bosses, and
has gone astray in defending workers' interests. The bourgeois parties evangelize
the humanization or rationalization of capitalism, trying to deceive us with a
supposed reform of a system structurally based on economic and social
inequalities. However, the mass, ruthless, direct democratic, organized class
movement of the oppressed and exploited in the direction of a total conflict with
the state and capital is absent from the scene, which burden us with the burdens
of the crisis of the capitalist system, raising the indicators of poverty,
unemployment, constantly degrading the working and living standards of many,
causing wars with millions of dead, uprooting and destruction of nature. The
structures and formations that the oppressed and the exploited have at our
disposal are still weak, so that the scales of the class struggle may turn to us.
But there is no other way to social and class emancipation than to realize our
class interests and our class rivals, trust in our own strengths, solidarity and
mutual aid, collectivization and organization in the workplace, neighborhoods,
schools, schools, the organization in anti-fascist networks and anarchist
political collectives. We are the majority, we are the ones who drive the cogs of
capitalist production, depriving ourselves of the wealth we produce and abusing a
small parasitic minority. It is in our interest to overthrow this unjust,
exploitative and oppressive system. Our struggles must turn in this direction,
first achieving the small victories necessary to improve our working and living
conditions in the existing system, until its revolutionary overthrow and the
building of a free and egalitarian, restrained and classless society. It is in
