Lieve Climate Express sympathisant,  Onze actie komt er bijna aan en ons team vrijwilligers zijn de laatste voorbereidingen aan het treffen. We staan te popelen om met energie en enthousiasme aan onze klimaatactie Ride The Tide te beginnen, die plaatsvindt van 6 tot 9 oktober ☺ ! We delen met jou in deze nieuwsbrief onze laatste weetjes over de actie. Met als belangrijkste boodschap: het is nog niet te laat, schrijf je zeker in om mee te doen!!

*** Wat gaan we doen?  We gaan fietsen !!  Gedurende vier dagen, van woensdag 6 oktober tot zaterdag 9 oktober zal er gefietst worden langs de fameuze toekomstige overstromingslijn in 2100.

Dag 1: Grote Markt van Poperinge > Jabbeke  11u feestelijk startschot fietstocht Dag 2: Kamping Klein Strand in Jabbeke, Brugge > Deinze  8u-11u start fietstocht Dag 3: Kamping Groeneveld in Deinze > Londerzeel  8u-11u start fietstocht Dag 4: Kampeerverblijfpark Diepvennen in Londerzeel > Antwerpen  8u-11u start fietstocht

Het startschot wordt feestelijk gegeven op 6 oktober 2021 om 11u op de markt van Poperinge en wordt ingeluid door een paar sprekers. Vanaf dat moment zal de hele tocht (+- 340km) afgelegd worden door een vaste groep fietsers die gedurende 4 dagen de hele route langs de vloedlijn zullen fietsen. Je moet je hiervoor wel inschrijven zodat we slaapgelegenheid, catering, bagagetransport,.. kunnen organiseren.  Mensen die op een ander moment willen aansluiten, kunnen dit perfect ook, de routes zijn ook openbaar gedeeld op onze website en kunnen gereden worden met de applicatie Komoot, maar je moet dan wel zelf je slaapgelegenheid en eten voorzien. De laatste dag van de route, namelijk 9 oktober, trekken we het open voor het grote publiek met een gezinsvriendelijk traject voor het laatste gedeelte. Afspraak aan het plein vlak voor het station van Sint-Katelijne-Waver (35km tot Antwerpen) met vertrek om 12u45 of aan Hoboken (10km tot Antwerpen) met vertrek om 15u00 aan het Hoboken-Polder Station.  Op deze manier kunnen ook gezinnen en minder ervaren fietsers aansluiten. Tot slot sluiten we onze Ride The Tide tocht af met een feestevenement op de Groenplaats in Antwerpen om 16u. Er zal live-muziek en een dj-set zijn, alsook infostandjes van enkele partnerverenigingen en een aantal sprekers van bekende organisaties om het geheel compleet te maken. We sluiten feestelijk af om 18u30 voor het té donker wordt. EXTRA: Als Climate Express doen we er een rit bij op zondag 10 oktober en rijden we van Antwerpen naar Brussel om deel te nemen aan de grootste nationale actie Back To The Climate van Klimaatcoalitie. Hiervoor schrijf je je best in via het inschrijvingsformulier. We voorzien eventueel een overnachting van zaterdag tot zondag met een tentformule. Wil je graag een enkele of meerdere etappes meedoen van een bepaalde dag in plaats van de volledige tocht? Dit kan zeker! Hoe meer zielen hoe meer vreugd. Maar dan gaan we wel vragen om zelf je eten en drinken te voorzien (en eventuele accommodatie). We hebben nog een toffe tentformule beschikbaar, in de buitenlucht dicht bij de natuur. Je kan je zowel nog inschrijven voor de 4-daagse alsook kan je nog aansluiten in het weekend op vrijdag of zaterdag zodat we allen samen kunnen terugrijden naar Back To the Climate op 10 oktober. We voorzien zoals altijd een tentplaats, eten alsook bagagetransport voor de dagen die je kiest. We doen nog een oproep om mee te helpen tijdens de fietstocht of bij het eindevenement. *** Ter herhaling: Waarom vindt Ride The Tide eigelijk plaats? We willen de aandacht vestigen op de klimaatnoodsituatie ter voorbereiding van:  De Belgische grote klimaatmars Back To the Climate georganiseerd door Klimaatcoalitie in Brussel - 10 oktober Eurotop over klimaatonderhandelingen voorafgaand aan de COP26 - half oktober  De onderhandelingen voor de klimaattop zullen plaatsvinden in Glasgow (COP26 - UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties) - november beeld = overstromingsgevaar langs de kust in België (coastal.climatecentral.org) Deze kaart toont in het rood de delen die naar verwachting in 2100 één (of meerdere keren) per jaar zullen overstromen bij de huidig voorspelde wereldwijde temperatuurstijging van 3°C. Daaruit blijkt dat belangrijke delen van de laaggelegen gebieden in de provincies West-Vlaanderen, Oost-Vlaanderen, en in mindere mate Antwerpen en Vlaams-Brabant jaarlijks met overstromingen te maken zullen krijgen. Echter, hebben we gemerkt deze zomer dat de overstromingsproblematiek heel het land aangaat en ook belangrijke delen van Limburg en Wallonië teisteren.  We moeten meer mensen bewust maken van het feit dat het niet "ver van huis" is en van de gevolgen die onze burgers kunnen ondervinden. Hoe meer mensen zich bewust worden van de lokale risico's, en hoe meer ze in kaart worden gebracht, hoe meer druk er zal zijn op onze politici.

Cher/Chère sympathisant(e) de Climat Express,  Notre action arrive à grands pas et notre équipe de bénévoles effectue les derniers préparatifs. Nous sommes impatients de commencer avec énergie et enthousiasme notre action climatique Ride The Tide, qui aura lieu du 6 au 9 octobre ! Dans cette lettre d'information, nous partageons avec vous les derniers faits concernant la campagne. Avec le message le plus important : il n'est pas encore trop tard, assurez-vous de vous inscrire et de participer !

*** Qu'allons-nous faire ?  Nous allons faire du vélo ! Pendant quatre jours, du mercredi 6 octobre au samedi 9 octobre, nous allons parcourir à vélo la fameuse future ligne d’inondation en 2100. En cours, nous allons faire ceci:

Jour 1: Grand Place de Poperinge > Jabbeke  A 11h nous partons avec un départ festif sur la grand place de Poperinge Jour 2: Camping Klein Strand à Jabbeke, Brugge > Deinze  Entre 8h et 10h, les cyclistes partent de Jabbeke. Jour 3: Camping Groeneveld à Deinze > Londerzeel  Entre 8h et 10h, les cyclistes partent de Deinze Jour 4: Camping Kampeerverblijfpark Diepvennen à Londerzeel > Antwerpen  Entre 8h et 10h, les cyclistes partent de Londerzeel

Le coup d'envoi sera donné le 6 octobre 2021 à 11 heures sur la place du marché de Poperinge et sera annoncé par quelques orateurs. A partir de ce moment, l'ensemble du circuit (+- 340km) sera effectué par un groupe fixe de cyclistes qui parcourent la route le long de la ligne d’inondation pendant 4 jours. Vous devez vous inscrire pour cela, afin que nous puissions organiser l'hébergement, la restauration, le transport des bagages, etc.  Les personnes qui souhaitent se joindre à nous à un autre moment peuvent parfaitement le faire, les itinéraires sont également partagés publiquement sur notre site web et peuvent être conduits avec l'application Komoot, mais vous devez fournir votre propre hébergement et votre nourriture. Le dernier jour du parcours, à savoir le 9 octobre, nous ouvrons l'événement au grand public avec un parcours familial pour la dernière partie. Rendez-vous sur la place devant la gare de Sint-Katelijne-Waver à 12h45 (35 km d'Anvers) ou à la gare de Hoboken-Polder à 15h (10 km d'Anvers).De cette façon, les familles et les cyclistes moins expérimentés peuvent également participer. Enfin, nous clôturerons notre Ride The Tide par un événement festif sur le Groenplaats à Anvers à 16h. Il y aura de la musique live et un set de DJ, ainsi que des stands d'information de certaines associations partenaires et un certain nombre d'intervenants d'organisations bien connues pour compléter le tout. Nous terminons à 18 h 30 avant qu'il ne fasse trop sombre. EXTRA : En tant que Climate Express, nous ajoutons un trajet le dimanche 10 octobre d'Anvers à Bruxelles pour participer à la plus grande action nationale Back To The Climate de la Coalition Climat. Il est préférable de s'y inscrire via le formulaire d'inscription. Nous pouvons prévoir une nuitée du samedi au dimanche en formule tente. Si vous souhaitez participer à une ou plusieurs étapes d'une journée particulière plutôt qu'à l'ensemble du circuit, c'est tout à fait possible ! Plus on est de fous, plus on rit. Vous pouvez encore vous inscrire à l'événement de quatre jours ou nous rejoindre pour le week-end, le vendredi ou le samedi, afin que nous puissions retourner tous ensemble à Back to the Climate le 10 octobre. Nous sommes toujours à la recherche de quelques bénévoles ! Nous aimerions vous demander de nous aider pendant la randonnée cycliste ou lors de l'événement final. On cherche surtout encore des gens pour transporter le bagage des cyclistes pour le vendredi 8 octobre et le samedi 9 octobre. *** Pour rappel, pourquoi est-ce qu’on fait l’action Ride The Tide ?   Nous voulons attirer l'attention sur l'urgence climatique en préparation : Car Grande Marche pour le Climat ‘Back To The Climate’ sera organisée par la Coalition Climatique à Bruxelles le 10 octobre Car l’Eurotop a lieu sur les négociations climatiques avant la COP26 à mi-octobre  Car les négociations pour le sommet sur le climat auront lieu à Glasgow (COP26 - Conférence des parties sur le changement climatique de l'ONU) en Novembre image = menace d'inondation côtière en Belgique (coastal.climatecentral.org) Cette carte montre en rouge les parties qui devraient être inondées une (ou plusieurs) fois par an en 2100 si la température mondiale augmente de 3°C, selon les prévisions actuelles. Des parties importantes des zones de basse altitude dans les provinces de Flandre occidentale, de Flandre orientale et, dans une moindre mesure, d'Anvers et du Brabant flamand, devront faire face à des inondations chaque année. Cependant, nous avons constaté cet été que le problème des inondations touche l'ensemble du pays et concerne également des parties importantes du Limbourg et de la Wallonie.  Nous devons sensibiliser davantage les personnes au fait qu'il ne s'agit pas d'un "loin de chez soi" et aux conséquences que ça peut entraîner pour nos citoyens. Plus les gens seront conscients des risques locaux, et plus qu’ils seront cartographiés, plus la pression sera forte sur nos politiciens.

Ride the Tide 2021

Dear Climate Express sympathiser,  Our action is coming closer and our team of volunteers is doing the last preparations. We are excited to start with our action Ride The Tide full with energy and enthusiasm, between 6 and 9 October! In this newsletter we share with you the latest updates on the action. With the main message: it's not too late, you can still register to join us!!

*** What are we going to do?   We are going to ride our bikes!!!   For four days, from Wednesday, October 6, to Saturday, October 9, cyclists will ride along the famous future flood line in 2100.

Day 1: Grote Markt van Poperinge > Jabbeke  11a.m. festive start bike ride Day 2: Kamping Klein Strand in Jabbeke, Brugge > Deinze  8 a.m.-11 a.m. start of bicycle tour Day 3: Kamping Groeneveld in Deinze > Londerzeel  8 a.m.-11 a.m. start of bicycle tour Day 4: Kampeerverblijfpark Diepvennen in Londerzeel > Antwerpen  8 a.m.-11 a.m. start of bicycle tour

The starting shot will be given on October 6, 2021 at 11 am on the market square of Poperinge and will be heralded by a few speakers. From that moment on, the whole tour (+- 340km) will be done by a fixed group of cyclists who will cycle the whole route along the tidemark during 4 days. You have to sign up for this so we can organize sleeping facilities, catering, luggage transport, ... People who want to join us at another time can do this as well, the routes are also shared publicly on our website and can be ridden with the application Komoot, but in this case you will have to provide your own sleeping facilities and food. On the last day of the route, namely October 9, we open it up to the general public with a family-friendly route for the last part. Meet at the square in front of the train station of Sint-Katelijne-Waver (35km to Antwerp) departing at 12:45 pm or at Hoboken (10km to Antwerp) departing at 15 p.m. from the Hoboken-Polder train station.  This way, families and less experienced cyclists can also join. Finally, we conclude our Ride The Tide tour with a party event on the Groenplaats in Antwerp at 16h. There will be live music and a DJ set, as well as information stands from some partner associations and a number of speakers from well-known organizations to make it all complete. We conclude festively at 18h30 before it gets too dark. EXTRA: As Climate Express we add a ride on Sunday, October 10 from Antwerp to Brussels to participate in the largest national action Back To The Climate of Climate Coalition. Please register using the registration form. We can provide a tent formula for the night from Saturday to Sunday. If you would like to participate in one or more stages of a particular day instead of the entire trip, this is certainly possible! The more the merrier. But then we will ask you to provide your own food and drink (and possible accommodation). *** To repeat: Why does Ride The Tide take place? We want to draw attention to the climate emergency in preparation for:  Belgian major climate march Back To the Climate organized by Climate Coalition in Brussels - October 10 Eurotop on climate negotiations prior to COP26 - mid-October  Negotiations for the climate summit will take place in Glasgow (COP26 - UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties) - November image = coastal flood threat in Belgium (coastal.climatecentral.org) This map shows in red the parts that are expected to be flooded once (or several times) a year in 2100 at the current predicted global temperature increase of 3°C. It shows that significant parts of the low-lying areas in the provinces of West Flanders, East Flanders, and to a lesser extent Antwerp and Flemish Brabant will experience annual flooding. However, we have noticed this summer that flooding problems affect the whole country and also important parts of Limburg and Wallonia are affected. We need to make more people aware of the fact that it is not "far from home" and of the consequences our citizens may face. The more people become aware of the local risks, and the more they are mapped out, the more pressure there will be on our politicians.
