Since September, struggles have erupted in clubs all over the country. Salaries,
working conditions, working hours, contempt for supervisors ... there are manyreasons to fight. In particular, in many very feminized sectors, struggles areborn and sometimes become radicalized. ---- Images of women fighting: this is theexciting vision that this back-to-school season offers us ! In particular, theheroines of the pandemic, those who are applauded at the windows and who arenevertheless mistreated on a daily basis at work, raise their heads !The healthcare sector at the forefront of battlesHome helpers are essential to our society. Completely invisible and isolated, conflicts against their too low wages and their too difficult working conditionserupt in several places. On September 23, a national strike took place in the area.In several nursing homes as well, anger is mounting. Thus, in the Alice Guyestablishment of the Cos Alexandre Glasberg Foundation, the employees went onstrike in September and October. Until now despised and underpaid, they refusethe blackmail linked to the pandemic. They worked without protection during thecrisis, accepting everything under the pretext of difficult situation. Now theysay: enough is enough ! Similar situations exist in public and private nursinghomes: these discreet workers become visible thanks to their strike. Midwives arealso mobilizing. They carried out a massive strike day on October 7 for theirwages and working conditions.Enlargement and radicalizationWhen they are broad and determined, these mobilizations can pay off. Theemployees of the Arc-en-Ciel company, cleaning staff from the University ofJussieu, have proved this . They went on strike all together, for over a week, and the boss gave up. It's because their collective was strong. The extension ofthe strike of AESH (Accompanying students with disabilities) of the NationalEducation is an example. This mobilization, built largely in inter-union, isestablishing a real balance of power with the Ministry of National Education.Because we won't get anything by asking nicely. It is indeed through the broadestpossible struggles, decided and led by the workers themselves, that we willobtain progress !Washing, guarding, caring for, accompanying ... it is no coincidence that it isworkers who perform these tasks. We analyze that if women are assigned to theseactivities by patriarchal capitalism, it is under the pretext of pseudo " naturalqualities". These qualities are attributed by gender prejudices. The objective ofthis division: to subdue women and organize blackmail on wages. Bad pay andpart-time work are the traces of this sexist hierarchy.A rich history of women's struggleObviously, women's strikes are not new ! For example, at the beginning of XX thcentury, the Douarnenez sardine launched several sandstone against the arduousnature of their work and for wage increases. Closer to home, workers at the LIPwatch manufacturing company staged harsh strikes against the closure of theirfactory in the 1970s. They even took over the factory in self-management, withthis famous slogan: "We manufacture, we sell, we pay ourselves". In recent years, strikes by hotel maids have been particularly visible. At the moment, it is thoseof the Disneyland hotel who are fighting to improve their working conditions. Thestrikers at the Bergams factory (91) are 80% women and are fighting for thecancellation of a competitiveness agreement made during the COVID crisis anddrastically reducing their wages while increasing their working hours. Thestrikers of the H & M logistics platform in Le Bourget (93), who are fightingagainst the closure of their warehouse, are also predominantly women.Organize feminized and precarious sectorsIn order to be able to build these broad and determined struggles, we need strongorganizations in the hands of the workers. This is why the unions must put themeans into the unionization of feminized sectors. So that women feel they belongin the union, that the union be the tool of women in their struggles. But also because economic inequalities between women and men worsen the violencesuffered by women. The overexploitation that women experience at work, whichleads them to obtain lower wages, often part-time, also has the consequence ofmaking them more dependent on a possible spouse. The struggles of women at work are a real feminist issue. They allow workingwomen to realize their strength when they act together and increase their popularpower. They make it possible to obtain better wages, full-time workers, andbetter working conditions. They are a major stake for revolutionary unionism: themassive unionization of women is crucial for the setting in motion of all exploited.Libertarian Communist Union, November 1, 2021.https://www.unioncommunistelibertaire.org/?Depuis-la-rentree-de-nombreuses-travailleuses-entrent-en-lutte_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
