open to all, offered by Survie 31. ---- Saturday October 30, 2021 at 2 p.m. ----At 52 Rue Jacques Babinet (1st floor) 31100 Toulouse ---- New Caledonia, aterritory colonized by France since 1853, is at a crossroads: unless postponedfor health reasons, the last of the three self-determination referendums providedfor by the Nouméa Accord will be held on December 12. ---- During the first twovotes, in 2018 and 2020, the Kanaks, the first people of this South Pacificarchipelago today in a minority on its own territory, expressed more than 80% oftheir desire to achieve full sovereignty. However, the French state does not seemready to let go of this rich land, ideally placed from a geostrategic point of view.Complexity of the current political process, geographical and culturalremoteness, mass media very reluctant to deal with the subject ... There are manyreasons for the lack of interest and great ignorance of the French populationregarding New Caledonia. And this also concerns militant circles. It is, however,the country to which we belong which is pursuing an unacceptable colonialenterprise today and we have a role to play in order that it finally ceases.This training, open to all those who wish, will address the history of theterritory since the beginnings of colonization, the struggle for emancipation ofthe Kanak people, the ongoing process of decolonization, the role of the Frenchstate today.
