For a few days, we, the Amsterdam Feminist Anarch Group, have been residing in
Ringdijk 8. We decided to expropriate this building because we find it disgustingthat houses are being kept empty for years while we are in a housing crisis, manypeople are living in precariousness and the number of homeless people has doubledin the last 10 years. ---- In previous actions we have targeted big speculatorslike Blackstone, buildings occupied in solidarity with sex workers being pushedout of our city and against the greenwashing and colonial propagation andgentrification done by NV Zeedijk in the red light district.Today, we are taking autonomous action as part of the ongoing housingdemonstrations. Just marching and waiting for the government to listen to us isnot enough, in fact the government listened to the demands made by the housingmovement and its response was quite clear: no action was taken to resolve theproblem, but instead they sent police to silence us. , mutilating our bodies, making black stripes and trapping us.We need to face injustices directly, whenever and wherever we see them. Today weaim at Eigen Haard housing cooperation. This building, owned by Eigen Haard, hasbeen occupied before and is now empty and left to rot again for a long time. While these housing coops are supposed to provide affordable housing for workingclass, welfare-needs and refugees, they often exploit those in need of socialhousing, not adhering to their responsibilities as a housing corporation andselling social housing to hipsters and yuppies. Tenants who try to fightexploitation often cannot find the time, energy, or understand the bureaucraticlanguage that makes them depend on welfare workers who cannot do the job wellenough. The state does not provide quality care, but with just enough money, theyprovide care in a quantity that leaves people in precarious conditions.Eigen Haard declared that they will demolish the building and build socialhousing here. However, this plan has been around for years and nothing has beendone so far. While the construction of social housing may initially seem like agood thing, Eigen Haard clearly doesn't care enough about social housing toactually do something with these buildings. We are in the midst of a housingcrisis. Waiting lists for social housing in Amsterdam are for over 10 years andprices in the so-called liberalized market are sky-high. During all this time,Eigen Haard purposely chooses to leave these houses empty for years and years.Plus, Eigen Haard has been treating its tenants like shit. In many of theirso-called renovation projects, people are forced to reside in living conditionswithout water, electricity and gas, as happened recently to the people ofAmsterdam Noord, whose apartments were being "renovated". In addition, a fewyears ago, Eigen Haard also "renovated" buildings in the Wegener Sleeswijkdistrict of Geuzenveld, where they forced tenants to live in their houses duringthe renovation. In this project, Eigen Haard showed its true nature. Therenovations implemented in the project were made as cheap as possible, leavingtenants later with worse homes than before. In some cases, rats came out of thewalls and, in almost all cases, the balconies were reduced, as Eigen Haard didnot bother to replace the old walls, but only to put a new wall on the old wall, thus taking space from the tenants.Real estate corporations like Eigen Haard are not concerned about their tenantsor about making housing affordable for the working class and the people who needit. They are only concerned with making money and extorting their tenants.Housing corporations have been selling social housing for years and tenants areforced to pay ridiculous amounts of so-called service costs without actuallygetting any service from these housing corporations. We will continue to take direct action against those who attack our livelihoods.Real change needs to come from below. Freedom was never given to us, we have tofight for it.We stand in solidarity with comrades from Bond Precaire Woonvormen who have beenoffering practical and legal support to precarious tenants in their fight againstlandlord leaching and our comrades from Niet Te Koop who have been fighting theprivate sale of social housing. We are in solidarity with all those who cannotfind housing, all those who fight for a better world without police, detentioncenters and private property.Refugees and migrants inside, Yuppen and tourists outside!Amsterdam Feminist Anarch Groupa-N-Ahttps://noticiasanarquistas.noblogs.org/post/2021/11/23/holanda-ringdijk-8-reocupada/_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.ca
