About Us
our History
We are The Black Gasolines, a theatrical rock band founded by Lukas Debeerst and Bradley
Remorie in 2016. After our debut EP “Dopamine Rush” in 2018, we’ve changed our drummer
to Justin Bruggeman and went on a quest to play as much as possible. We played more
than 45 concerts each year with stops in Ghent, Antwerp, Amsterdam and London and
released 2 singles “Long Way Suicide” and “Kangaroo Days”.
We started working on our first full length album in the end of 2019. It ended up being a
concept album. It tells the story about how a life can suddenly end and you realize that
you’ve didn’t do what your gut told you to. With a lot of influence of classical and 70’s music,
we’ve created an album we are all proud of.
We started writing the album in the south of France and were forced to record everything at
home by ourselves due to lockdown. This created the opportunity to take the time to
experiment a lot and create a studio album with great detail. We used a lot of piano and synthesizers, so it was logical
step to introduce Matthias Depraetere as pianist to the band. When restrictions fell, we were
able to invite some more friends to add instruments like cello, violin, sax and trumpets. This gave the album an extra boost and created a great listening experience.
Now, we are working on taking the band to the next level and even start writing on the
successor. Stay tuned.
