Alexis Grigoropoulos. Immediately after the incident, weeks of unrest erupted in
Athens. Despite their suppression, nothing is forgiven. Every year, anarchists
throughout Greece (and often elsewhere in the world) commemorate his memory. It
was no different this year either. ---- The largest demonstration, of course,
took place in Athens, where Alexis was shot dead in the Exarchia district. It has
been 13 years, but there has not been fewer people commemorating it, quite the
contrary. On the evening of Monday, December 6, about 10,000 anarchists and
anti-authoritarians gathered in the city center. The parade set in motion at dusk
and passed the parliament-protected parliament around eight in an unceasing chant
of slogans. We continued to the Exarchy, to the crime scene at the Alexis Memorial.

The Fizals became zealous, so there were clashes around half past nine. Tear
grenades on one side, stones and incendiary bottles on the other. After severely
tightening penalties for those who use incendiary bottles, repeated attempts to
sow fear in the movement do not seem to be working. Improvised barricades
appeared in the streets. Police attacks were quick, the physicists cursed at
independent journalists, forcibly arrested passers-by for no apparent reason, and
blindly beat dozens of people. Police did not hesitate to smash the door of one
of the buildings to follow the protesters inside. Their actions are based on a
sense of impunity, as they know that under the increasingly authoritarian regime
of Kyriakos Mitsotakis and his far-right companions, they are allowed to do
anything. The Greek police used tear gas, which passed more than twenty years
ago, caused a sensation.

But this was not the only demonstration that day in the center of Athens.
Thousands of high school students gathered on the same route in the afternoon.
There was police violence here too. Eleven minors were detained, 3 charged.

It was demonstrated in almost every corner of Greece. A march took place in the
city of Corfu, which was attended by 70 people despite heavy rain.

An anti-authoritarian meeting was held in Karditsa. Even though it was full of
philosophers, the march was dynamic and pleased to attend.

In Komotini, a procession commemorating the state assassination of anarchist
student Alexandros Grigoropoulos began at half past six in the evening. A total
of 80 people participated in it in two blocks.

In Crete, Heraklion, the march on December 6 was very massive and lively. The
Fizls did not forgive themselves for various provocations, and at one point the
situation almost resulted in danger for the small children and families who were
in Freedom Square when police units surrounded part of the demonstration. It was
the balance of the anarchist bloc that essentially protected those present from
the worst. A pre-planned police attack in Theotokopoulou Park aimed at
dismantling the anarchist bloc by blind violence. The attack was boldly repulsed.
The Fizls detained eight people after beating them. For a long time, they did not
illegally allow lawyers access to detainees. The following day, a solidarity
demonstration of about 80 people took place in front of the courthouse. The
slogans were chanted so that the detainees could hear them and feel support from
outside. The trial was adjourned and the detainees could leave with their friends.

In Thessaloniki, anarchists also recalled recent victims of police killers. A
demonstration of pupils and students took place in the morning. Our friends from
the Anarchist Political Organization, which is part of the International of
Anarchist Federations, set out in the afternoon from the Mundo Nuevo squat with
the banner "From Spontaneous Uprising to Organized Revolutionary Action. No peace
with the state and capital. " Despite heavy rain, thousands of people set out for
the streets of Thessaloniki to demonstrate in several blocks against the police.
The number of protesters was so large that, despite the strong presence of police
officers, it did not allow for a complete siege of the action.

Other demonstrations and commemorations took place in Patras, Volos and many
other cities.

Abroad, Alexis's death was commemorated by anarchists in Glasgow, Scotland, for
example. As every year, our Anarchist Federation recalled his unnecessary death
by hand and fasted on social networks.
