I'm Maky and I'm an LGBT+ activist here in Mexico.

Back in 2015, the Mexican Supreme Court ruled that it was unconstitutional to forbid same-sex couples to marry. But in my state, Baja California, and 12 other states, they still refused to legalize marriage equality at the state level.

For 10 years, LGBT+ activists – including me – have been fighting tirelessly, but the government kept refusing our rights.

Thanks to all our hard work and the support of the All Out community, our voices were finally heard – louder than ever. You helped us get marriage equality passed here in Baja California AND in the state of Yucatán!

But the fight is far from over: there are still 8 states to go until everyone in Mexico can have the simple right to get married to the person they love.

One of the coolest things we did this year was when my group in Baja California teamed up with All Out and with our friends in the state of Yucatán to shine giant projections on the capitals of each state that said: 🗣 Equal Marriage NOW!

The day after the projections, the government of Baja California legalized equal marriage! 🥳💍 Shortly after, so did the state of Yucatán!

But it didn’t stop there. All Out ran a training for 12 LGBT+ Mexican activists – myself included – on digital campaigning, to help fuel our fights here on the ground.

It's really wonderful to know we have the support not only of All Out's team of activists, but of the entire All Out community – hundreds of thousands of you!
