Sunday 28 November 2021 15:00 Nieuwmarkt, Amsterdam ---- We are meeting to
protest against human rights violations on the Polish-Belarusian border. We wantto express our disagreement with the actions of the authoritarian government ofBelarus, which cynically uses refugees from countries such as Iraq, Syria andAfghanistan to put pressure on EU countries. We also condemn Poland's governmentresponse: pushing people who need help back to the border, preventing access tothe border to the media and aid organizations by introducing a state of emergencyand a closed zone, and against the construction of a wall along the border, thecost of which is EUR 350 million. In the last 3 months, the situation has reached the state of a humanitariancrisis. Refugees who have sought a safe haven in Europe spend weeks in theforest, when the temperature drops below 0oC, without access to food, water, warmclothes, and medical assistance. They die of hypothermia. The events on the Polish-Belarusian border are another face of the migrationcrisis that we know from the tragedy in the Mediterranean Sea. We cannot forgetabout its roots, which go back to the Arab Spring, the destabilization of theMiddle East countries by the broadly understood West - primarily the actions ofthe USA, but also France and Great Britain. There are droughts and plagues oflocusts caused by the climate crisis, which the inhabitants of the Global Southmainly face. The inhuman policy of the European Union turns Europe into an armedfortress. We demand respect for the rights of refugees at all borders of the EuropeanUnion. We believe that welcoming people in need is not only an expression of oursolidarity and responsibility but also the best way to "disarm" Lukashenka'sregime, which treats migrants as cannon fodder. We want to express our solidarity with the Belarusian people, whose tragedy takesplace in the background of the current crisis, and remind that AlexanderLukashenko, despite the defeat in the presidential elections, is still usurpingpower. Causing a crisis on the eastern wall of the EU was a response to thesanctions against Belarus and a way to divert attention from the events insidethe country. We disagree with the Polish government spending millions of euros on solutions todivide, not combine. The planned 5.5 m height wall, which is to run along thePolish-Belarusian border, poses a threat not only to people but also to animals. It will cross the animals paths and will negatively affect the nature of theBialowieza Primeval Forest - one of the oldest and largest fragments of primevalforest in Europe.A safe border is the one, where no one dies!Solidarity is our weapon!SUPPORTWe encourage you to bring your own banners, flags made of space blankets and tosupport activists from Grupa Granica (@grupagranica) who are helping in thePolish-Belarusian border:https://zrzutka.pl/kk4yh2SECURITYIf, for any reason, you do not feel safe or comfortable, report to the securityservice (people wearing reflective vests). We're aiding people who are trying to find refuge in Europe - we preparebasic packages with the most essential supplies for people lost in the forest, wecollect supplies in Wroclaw and transport them to the border, we plan educationalactions against borders. No Borders is a life philosophy of open people.Everyone has the right to live in a place of their choosing. Everyone has theright to dignity and human rights regardless of their country of origin, skincolour or the contents of their wallet. We expect that our actions will not be a one-time task but a long-term operation, but currently we want to focus on helping the migrants that are being pushed backinto the forest by Polish uniformed services regardless of their health or thereasons why they found themselves in this situation. These people are beingdenied their basic rights, and ultimately the right to live. Winter is coming andalmost everyday there is news of more people dying from hypothermia. The moneywill be used on basic packages, food, medicine, fuel and other supplies neededfor work at the border.https://www.vrijebond.org/demo-solidarity-with-refugees-on-the-polish-belarusian-border/_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
