Hello dear friends, We too commemorate Sakine Cansiz, Fidan Dogan and Leyla
Saylemez. We demand justice and the unconditional clarification of her death! we
are delighted to be invited to speak here today as feminist anarchists. We work
in various political groups and see great opportunities for the German radical
left in learning from the Kurdish women's movement. Sakine Cansiz and many of her
comrades started a revolution that is carried on to this day. A revolution of
society, of gender relations and of the individual people, who together strive
for a freer and fairer life. You have shown us how important it is to strengthen
solidarity and the union of those affected, instead of the division and isolation
through patriarchal violence,capitalist exploitation and war.

Your experiences encourage you to stand firm against state repression or torture
and to stand up for human rights! Her example shows us the power of anger and
community that emerges when desperate and powerless people come together and no
longer fight alone for their rights and against systematic violence. In order for
people to get together and organize, public relations work and networking are
required. We have to stay tuned - take our content on the streets and in the
media and reach out to individual people. We have to offer them an alternative to
the existing, violent system and invite them to join in order to be able to live
independently!

The Kurdish struggle for freedom, like the Zapatista women’s movement in Chiapas,
Mexico, is of international importance for FLINTA worldwide - women, lesbians,
inter, non-binary, trans and agender people. The maintenance and expansion of
parallel structures (quasi FLINTA shelters on a grand scale), as it takes place,
for example, in the Iraqi region of the Kandil Mountains, creates the opportunity
to lead a life that is sustainable in every respect, far from patriarchal and
capitalist violence - in harmony with nature and in solidarity, equal and free
community. This is where the pioneers of society learn and organize themselves.
Their education and training in ideological, cultural, manual and military manner
forms the basis for an egalitarian, socialist and feminist attitude, which aims
to create a democratic autonomy in the social organization based on the ideals of
freedom, self-determination and equality. Understanding basic education as a
necessary part of self-determination and self-defense also offers an alternative,
feminist approach to militant organization.

Because in order to be a capable part of a self-defense unit, it is imperative to
deal with structural oppression and to reflect on one's own beliefs. Learning to
be open to criticism and to deal directly with one another also promotes
togetherness in which, instead of pressure to perform and competition, the focus
is on personal potential and mutual support in becoming better revolutionaries.
The YPJ and the Association of Women's Fighting Units YJA-Star offer us a
completely new and above all anti-patriarchal approach to militancy as
self-assertion and defense, and at the same time as a training ground for the
liberated society.

What has meanwhile been established and institutionalized in the Kurdish
self-government in the form of “academies for re-education” or regular
self-criticism seminars for men cannot be found on a comparable scale in the
German left “Perspective, a corresponding individual and social change in
personal attitudes and actions and the gender ratio in private and public space.
Visible successes of the Kurdish women's liberation struggle are, for example,
the equal and diverse occupation of all committees and decision-making positions

deputies in particular at all levels. Our Kurdish friends have been fighting this
fight against external enemies such as the Turkish state or the Daesh for
decades, but they are fighting even more against the centuries-old patriarchal
traditions - also within their own ranks. But it is not just YOUR struggle, it is
the struggle of all FLINTA worldwide who can no longer stand the violent system
of patriarchy and capitalism! And it is the struggle of all revolutionary forces
to deal with one's own understanding of gender in order to build a truly
