On August 26, we fought another battle, in which we lost our beloved fighters and

comrades, Petrenko-Platonov and Ivanyuk. Nestor Makhno (refers to the "History ofthe Makhnovit movement" by Piotr Arshinov). ---- Ivanyuk was born somewhere inthe province of Poltava, but we do not know the time. By 1917 he had become ananarchist and in the spring of 1919 he was a member of the Nabat AnarchistConfederation in Poltava. In May of the same year he joined the Makhnovitmovement. In mid-October 1919 he was appointed commander of a unit of 150fighters with 3 machine guns. He and other Makhnovites fought in the Kharkivprovince in a deliberate move aimed at crushing Denikin's forces from behind. He fought against the forces of White General Denikin until December 1919, whenhis unit was disarmed by the Red Army. In 1920 he organized detachments thatfought the Bolsheviks, while at the same time collaborating with the unit ofanother Makhnovite, Matvienko. He strongly opposed the new alliance with theBolsheviks in the autumn of 1920, but unlike others - such as Kamenev (Kameniuk),Fomin and Parkhomenko - did not leave the Makhnovites. On November 16, 1920, he spoke at a meeting in Konstantinograd, calling for theformation of units of volunteer Makhnovites. After the fraudulent end of thealliance by the Bolsheviks, he took part in a guerrilla struggle against them. His units collaborated with the main forces of the Makhnovites and participatedin the winter campaign as an infantry commander. In March 1921 he was sent withhis regiment to the Kharkiv region to organize new units. In May he was operatingwith a unit of 500 fighters in the province of Poltava. On June 18, he rejoined the main Makhnovit forces, but later refused to accept adecision by the staff to leave Poltava province. Thus, from the beginning ofJuly, it operated independently. However, in battles with the Red Army on July22-23, he was destroyed and defeated and he and about a hundred of his comradeswent underground. On August 14, he collaborated with the remaining Makhno corpsand fell fightingin the last major battle fought by the Makhnovites in KhersonCounty.* Source: www.makhno.ruhttps://anarchism.espivblogs.net/2021/12/23/ivanyuk-epese-stin-teleytaia-machi-toy-kinimatos/_________________________________________A - I N F O S  N E W S  S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.ca
