From December 2021 onwards, we have all seen our electricity and gas bills
skyrocket. What exactly happened? ---- From December onwards, on the one hand, the European reference price of electricity jumped, while on the other hand, theprice of electricity in Greece remains consistently the most expensive in Europe.---- Throughout the month of December and the month of January until now theprices remained at inconceivable levels. On December 21, especially the Europeanreference price reached € 162,775 per megawatt hour (MWh), recording an increaseof 20% compared to the previous closing, surpassing the previous record ofOctober 6. On the same day in Greece the wholesale price of electricity ) -thecost of Mwh (megawatt hours) amounted to € 415.94, recording an increase of +546% . On the same day the increase in natural gas was + 941%! In order tounderstand what the price of € 0.40 per Kwh (kilowatt hour) means, it should benoted that in 2020 consumers paid Kwh (kilowatt hour) to 0.080. This year it roseat the end of Autumn to € 0.15 while the rise continues. THEtotal increase in oneyear has reached 400% , while just a year ago according to the official data ofIPTO in December 2020 the wholesale price per megawatt hour was € 64,422.Prices fluctuated several times, falling for a few days and rising again on29/12. Exact numbers do not matter. Suffice it to say that the bills that reachour homes are increased by 3 or even 3.5 times compared to last year, and we cannot pay them! And one more thing: yes, of course the crisis is pan-European, but Greececonsistently has incomparably higher prices than other countries: and this is notindefinitely the fault of "America" and "Russia", but the policy of thegovernment that allows the vulgar speculation of energy companies that alone andwithout any control co-decide prices! Indicatively in the first 11 days of theyear, the average price in Greece was over € 199, compared to the second mostexpensive, Switzerland - where the basic salary is € 3,800!!!! - which is at €188 and the third, Poland which is at 145 € (44 € cheaper!). Greece isconsistently the country with the most expensive electricity wholesaleamong the18 priced countries, with an average annual price of € 116.32 per megawatt hour, compared to 109 in France or 97 in Germany, ie countries with multiple minimumand average wages. And this is not the fault of anyone other than the idiots ofthe companies and their minions who govern us.At the same time, the same people who, in order to favor the interests of their"friends", owners of private energy companies (how long has it been sinceMilionis of energa was "acquitted"? How long has Floros also been released fromprison? as a minister he was photographed in Protergia's car;) they leave pricesuncontrollable, they come to pretend to be the merciful benefactors of the poor,"subsidizing" the current.... Mocking us once again in our faces.According to Messiah Mitsotakis, € 400 million will be given to deal with theincreases in electricity tariffs. Of course a large amount of this will be givennot to poor households but to businesses.... "So that they remain on a growthtrajectory". What will the people below get in the end? The subsidy for the first300kWh for the month of December is at € 49.5 from € 39 that was in November. Forthe beneficiaries of the Social Housing Tariff (CTO), the government "support" inDecember goes to 55.5 € per month from 45 € which was in November. Increase ofthe subsidy, ie.... 10 € per month, when the bills come at least three times!!!!As a result of this unprecedented situation, we are once again counting the deadof our class. The research of the former Deputy Chief of the Fire Brigade,Adrianos Gourbatsis, shows that in 2021 there was a vertical increase in deathsfrom fires in houses. Specifically, in 2021 there were 34,343 urban fires , anumber that compared to 2020 is increased by 70.8% and compared to the average ofthe decade 2010-2020 by 84.2%. From these fires we counted 83 dead- a number thatis the highest since 2010 (we had 68 deaths in 2020, and an average of 29 deathsper year from 2010 to 2019 - so an increase of 22% from 2020 and 186.2% from theprevious average) . One of the main reasons for these fires, and therefore thedeaths we are counting, is the increase in the cost of electricity and heatingthat leads them from below to the possibility of unsafe heating and therefore tothe use of unsafe means. This rise in prices also affects all other basic goods, since energy is about 20%of the operating costs of supermarkets. In addition to the current priceincreases of about 2% for all items of popular consumption , which in some itemsreaches up to 12%, new price increases are expected from January 15 in almost allfresh and standardized foods, cleaning items and household items. use. Theincrease in the final prices on the supermarket shelf in 2021 moved in the areaof 1.5%, while for 2022 it is estimated that it will increase by an additional3%. A necessary footnote here is that it is completely unclear to what extent theprice increases are actually due to rising energy prices and to what extent therise in energy prices is another reason for the super-sharks of the super marketchains to rise for once again the prices. On the increase of electricity and gas, mentioned above, on the increase of basicgoods, the increase must also be calculated: of petrol by 16.8% , of diesel by20.25% , of transport by 6.7% and housing by 4% .And we have to cover all this with a € 500 monthly salary, and with theHatzidakis law cutting us even overtime. The government probably estimates thatwe will pick... many olives this year! They work in our faces and impoverish us financially. At the same time that wecan not pay our rent, which is almost as much as our monthly salary, let alone goout for our basic living, the tests for the quint are still not prescribed and wepay - and these - we, to be grabbed by the big-clinics. And when we ask for any -self-evident benefit - such as free tests and NSS support, they answer that ifthey give them for free, we will pay them again out of our own pocket! And thisis what those who boosted public debt to 235% say, distributing money to SMEparrots, highway owners, large private clinic sharks, new hires and more copsthan anyone could have imagined, Rafale planes and Romeo helicopters,THAT'S ENOUGHIf we do not want to die - literally - of hunger, it is time to react. To react to those who cut our salaries every few months, who pass bankruptcy lawsto seize our first home, and new insurance laws to work until we literally die atwork, those of us who work because our country has the first in youthunemployment rates. To react to those who increase the cost of our livelihood in all possible ways,in food, basic necessities, housing, transportation, EVERYTHING, while now theymagically ask us to find money for AT LEAST THREE times electricity and gas bills.TO REACT TO THOSE WHO STOLE OUR LIFE EVERY DAYFor this reason, on the night of Wednesday 13/1, we carried out interventionswith paints and sprays in 4 stores of 4 different electricity providers:- in the DEDDIE storeat Watt and Wolt store on Lambraki Street- at the Iro store on Voulgari Street- at the Zenith store on Voulgari StreetThessaloniki Liberation Initiative (member of the Anarchist Federation)blog: libertasalonica.wordpress.comcontact e-mail: lib_thess@hotmail.comhttps://libertasalonica.wordpress.com/2022/01/13/_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
