On Tuesday 21/12/21, MAT police forces raided the Kavala oil factory occupied by
the workers in Kavala. Inside were about 170 workers of the Kavala Oil factory, who were repressed. From the previous day, the factory was already surrounded byseveral squads, preventing the changes of security shift but also not allowingsolidarity workers and families of workers to approach, while the workers wereguarding the factory as they had reported its unsafe operation. MAT forces thenproceeded to arrest 17 workers and union members, who were released. Employeesare accused of disturbing the peace, illegal violence, removal of insurancefacilities, violence against officials and judges,During the police invasion and after the clashes that followed, the factory wasleft without electricity, due to the destruction of a transformer. With the plantout of power, there is a risk of hydrogen sulfide leakage, threatening both theenvironment and the lives of those who are there. The company and the managementof Energean, which has been financed with 100 million euros with a guarantee ofthe State, have already proceeded with four dismissals, lawsuits of employees andreductions of salaries, while all the other employees have been made available. At the same time, all employees who are organized in the factory union have beentargeted. At a time when unemployment is rising and most of the unemployed - although partof the working class - are abandoned to their fate, the New Democracy governmentis stepping up attacks on those below, passing the anti-labor bill that abolishesworking hours of 8 o'clock and the (already) unpaid overtime is instituted, whichis offset by licenses and breaks. At the same time, attempts are being made totarget and limit the strikes and the radical demands of the labor movement.Movements that have been constant demands of capital for a long time, in order tointensify labor exploitation and to eradicate any form of resistance that maydevelop in the workplace. The state and the criminal clique of the government that represents itpolitically already counts thousands of deaths in the midst of a pandemic, whiledeclaring for the thousandth time that human life has absolutely no value if youare a poor worker, refugee or a member of a minority. The lives of the oppressedare sacrificed on the altar of capitalist profit, which needs state terrorism tocontinue its cycle of exploitation. The fight against employer crime and murder must be ongoing and linked to theongoing fight against unemployment, poverty and exploitation. With base unions, horizontal and anti-hierarchical formations and bottom-up neighborhoodassemblies, along with students, pupils, employees, the unemployed, to give tothe workplace, schools and colleges, the battle of class and social struggle. Wein turn express our support and declare that we stand in solidarity with theemployees of kavala oil and in their fair fight. We oppose class solidarityagainst employer terrorism and state repression, we defend our labor rights, wetake our lives into our own hands!AGAINST EMPLOYED SLAVES EMPLOYMENT TERRORISM AND STATE SUPPRESSIONSOLIDARITY TO KAVALA OIL EMPLOYEESMicrophone solidarity rally for Kavala Oil employeesTHURSDAY 23/12 17:30 | ARCHThessaloniki Local Coordination of the Anarchist Political Organization -Federation of Collectivitieshttps://landandfreedom.gr/el/agones/639-kavala-oil_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.ca
