Today, Human Rights Watch released its World Report 2022. Now in its 32nd edition, the annual World Report describes the human rights situation in nearly all of the approximately 100 countries where Human Rights Watch works. Covering events of the past year, the World Report 2022 highlights major rights trends, from government responses to the Covid-19 pandemic, to the effects of climate change, to powerful protest movements. A key theme this year challenges the common view that democracy around the world is on the decline, noting how autocratic leaders faced significant backlash in 2021. Country by country, the World Report delivers some of the most important human rights updates of the last year. How did your country do? |
