The new phase of the war between Russia and Ukraine causes us deep dismay and
anger. It is a new phase in a war that began eight years ago and has alreadyclaimed the lives of thousands of people. The fact that this war is now flaringup again and raging outside the Donbass would be without the participation orinvolvement of Russia's imperialist forces,NATO and the EU hardly imaginable. However, it must be clearly stated that this war is primarily a Russian war. Itis a product of Russian nationalism and aggressive Russian foreign policy. As inthe imperialist wars before, alleged reasons for war are invented, zones ofinfluence are created and the situation is fueled by the media and armsdeliveries on all sides. In this context, the situation of the population iscompletely irrelevant to the rulers. For in this war, as in every one before it,the salaried class will be the loser on all sides.Since this fact was already established before the war, it is not an option forus as class-struggle anarchists to take a position for one of the warringparties. Like the rest of the population, we have been able to observe themassive war propaganda of all parties in recent weeks. This media game, whichfocuses attention on the ruling class and is charged with nationalism andmilitarism to distract us from which class bears the burden of war, is likely tobecome a more regular occurrence in the future. We must not fall for this game. While it isNATO Elsewhere it doesn't matter at all that its ally Turkey is waginga brutal campaign against Rojava, Russia doesn't give a damn about the 2014autonomy efforts of the Donbass population. It's all about expanding your ownimperialist rule. But let us not allow the salaried class and our comrades to be forgotten. We as aplatform would have preferred to present you with an interview with anarchistcomrades from Ukraine at this point. Unfortunately, we have to postpone thisproject indefinitely. We are very worried about their health and the survival ofthe anarchist movement in Ukraine. That the situation for our anarchist comradescontinues to deteriorate despite the already precarious situation in the countrywith probably the strongest Nazi scene in Europe is a heavy blow. It only remainsfor us to express our solidarity with them and the entire salaried class ofUkraine. If we find out about support options in the next few days and weeks, wewill spread them.Another consequence of the past few weeks is that we have to certify to theanarchist, but also to the entire left-wing radical movement in Europe, that weare not in a position to react to this form of conflict. We are too weak, toodisorganized and too little networked to be able to counter imperialist warpropaganda or to effectively support the local wage-earning class. Without amajor peace movement, international solidarity actions and the political supportof the wage-earning class in the countries involved, we will have to continue tolook at the conflict resolution strategies of the rulers. A bitter realizationfor all of us.Meanwhile, the arms race in Eastern Europe has long since begun. Many EasternEuropean countries have announced that they will drastically increase theirmilitary budgets and are aggressively calling forNATO troops to be stationed ontheir territory. This militarization also means that society's resources arebeing redistributed towards the military. A development thatNATO requested formany years. State-of-the-art weapon systems have their price and thewage-dependent class should pay that. That Russia will use the same methods inthis saber-rattling should be obvious after recent events at the latest. We willsoon experience how social progress will be fought with nationalistic arguments. When the armaments are rolled out, climate change and social coldness will bereplaced as problems by the propaganda of fighting a common external enemy. But even if the situation is overwhelming, we should raise our voices againstwar, nationalism, rearmament and imperialism wherever possible. So take part inmobilizations in your cities and show: Our answer is the class struggle againstthe rulers and imperialism. We must do something to counter the war propagandaand not fall for the diversionary maneuvers of those in power. Our solidarity iswith the wage-earning class and especially with the anarchist movement worldwide. Our class cohesion knows no borders and uniforms.
