The Government of the Community of Madrid is processing the so-called Omnibus Law
(the Law of urgent measures for the promotion of economic activity and themodernization of the administration of the Community of Madrid), a rule that willserve to modify, in favor of its interests , 33 current laws and introduces newmeasures that facilitate the destruction of nature, deregulate urban planning andallow the privatization and deregulation of various public services (such ashealth or public transport), negatively affecting collective rights and common goods.The processing procedure itself already has serious democratic deficiencies. Thepreliminary draft of the law was exposed to public consultation in a hasty andopaque manner with the aim of hindering theparticipation and silence the social debate that a regulation of this magnitudeshould have.It is not justifiedcharacter of urgency that they attribute to it, nor that laws that affect so manyareas are modified at a stroke of the pen.Faced with this outrage, more than 40 social groups have come together todenounce the consequences of the Omnibus Law and try to stop it. We are notresigned to seeing how the Regional Government of Díaz Ayuso deregulates publicrights and common goods to give them on a platter to the private sector with theaim of doing business with them.We have many reasons to stop the Omnibus Law, so many that it would be impossibleto list them all.Among the most urgent and important are:In the field of health:* The creation of a Procurement Agency is proposed, which with full autonomy andin an opaque manner, will be able to carry out contracts for goods and serviceswithout parliamentary or citizen control. this agencyit is an open door to corruption, since it can be owned and financed by companiesprivate health sector. In addition, in the event of a health crisis, thepresidency or vice-presidency of this new entity may decide to award and contractmillionaire services.In the field of public transport:* Delves into a process of deregulation and precariousness of the Public Serviceof the taxi, to continue towards a predatory and uberizing model that only favorsa group of companies and does not benefit neither its professionals nor thecitizenry. Removing the current restrictions on VTCs only meansprecarious service and lower quality guarantees for its users.In the field of urban planning:* It promotes the speculative transformation and the privatization of the Madridterritory, allowing Regional Scope Projects (such as the controversial Eurovegas)to be built inany kind of floor, whatever its degree of protection. In short, the Omnibus Law is one moretwist against citizen rights, and supposes a clear deterioration of publicservices and a privatization of the common goods of the Madrid region.For all these reasons, we request the withdrawal of the project of the OmnibusLaw.
