Dear friends,
As you’ll know by now, we’ve been helping to evacuate traumatized dogs and cats to Poland from the nightmare war zones of Ukraine. We have managed to evacuate, treat and feed thousands of animals, but now, Polish authorities have clamped down on the number of animals allowed to cross the border. It seems they won’t allow any animals to leave Ukraine unless they are accompanied by owners - a total impossibility for the abandoned, abused and unwanted animals we help. |
| This means that we must URGENTLY find ways to help the dogs and cats still stuck in the war zones of Ukraine… and we have a plan to do exactly this with our partner, Vetmarket Pluriton. |
If we can’t take animals to safety in Poland, we must simply redouble our efforts to care for them in the war zones. We and Vetmarket are stepping up to the challenge. Before war broke out, Vetmarket focused solely on manufacturing pet food. Now, on top of producing 21 tons (21,000 kilograms) of pet food every week, the team also travels through the war zones, delivering it to desperate cats and dogs in some of the worst-hit areas of Ukraine.
Vetmarket urgently needs a vehicle to transport as much food as possible during every trip. Its current vehicle is too small to carry large quantities of food, which means that while Vetmarket has plenty of food to give to the animals, the team is struggling to get it to them. Animals are waiting longer and longer for food, getting hungrier and hungrier - or they’re not getting it at all.
A larger vehicle will enable Vetmarket to travel further into more parts of Ukraine, and ensure that even more animals are kept fed and looked after in this terrible war. Many of these dogs and cats go for days or longer without food, and they never know where their next meal will come from. |
| By loading up a vehicle with up to 3 TONS (3,000 KILOGRAMS) OF FOOD PER TRIP, Vetmarket will be able to feed hundreds of animals every week! |
| THIS is the kind of help we must now focus on giving to the animals of Ukraine. We may not be able to get them out of Ukraine right now, but we CAN keep their bellies full - and that’s where we need your help so badly right now. |
| With no chance of getting out of the war zone, the abandoned dogs and cats of Ukraine need us more than ever. We MUST continue to help them on the ground by getting as much food to them as we can. |
With the help of animal lovers like you, we will get Vetmarket on the road in a bigger vehicle. We have also commissioned Vetmarket to produce Network for Animals pet food to distribute free to the hardest-hit areas - places no one has been able to reach so far because the danger. The daily TV news shows us terrible human suffering in Ukraine. If it’s this bad for humans, just imagine how bad it is for the animals. Just imagine how hungry and how desperate they must be feeling.
It must be noted that Vetmarket makes no profit on the pet food it is producing for Network for Animals. The team sells it to us at cost so that together, we can care for as many animals as we possibly can. THIS is where your donations will be going. THIS is the work we’re doing right now! |
We can’t get the animals out, but we CAN get aid TO them! With your help, that is exactly what we will do. |
| If you’re able to donate now, we will be able to commission Vetmarket to make larger quantities of cat and dog food - and believe us, every single mouthful will be hungrily devoured by the homeless dogs and cats where the need is most urgent. |
| We will also continue to work with our other brave and tireless Ukrainian partners like Ecoprotection of Starokostyantyniv (EPS), Shelter Ugolyok, the Kyiv Animal Rescue Group (KARG) and Anzhela Sheveleva and her Animal Guardians. These courageous organizations and individuals - some of them elderly and disabled pensioners - are risking their lives every single day to feed the animals of their towns. With your continued support, we can keep giving them food so they can keep feeding the animals. |
| So far, you’ve helped to fill the bellies of thousands of animals trapped in a terrifying war. Many of these animals have lost everything - their homes, their families, their warm beds, their food. They have nothing,They are alone and terrified on the streets, fighting every day for tiny scraps of food as the bombardment never ends. |
We can’t count how many animals we’ve seen torn up by shrapnel and traumatized by relentless bomb blasts. But what we CAN do - what we MUST do - is keep them fed. If nothing else, let’s ensure that they never go to sleep hungry, and that they can rely on you, and us, for a square meal. It’s the least we can give them in this terrible time of need.
Please keep donating and we’ll keep feeding the innocent and frightened dogs and cats. Every drop of your support fills their bellies and keeps them warm. |

P.S. We already know that as we and our partners venture deeper into the Ukrainian heartland, we are going to find unimaginable horrors for animals. They will be in the most desperate need of our help. Food is an URGENT, never-ending need for animals who have been scrounging around bombed cities and towns for scraps. We promise that with your help, we will get Vetmarket on the road, traveling further and feeding more animals. Please keep donating so they can keep feeling the warmth of your kindness. |
