In March, a collective of associations fighting for peasant agriculture and
against the polluting processes of agro-industry immobilized and unloaded bysurprise a train of goods. Described as "eco-terrorist" in the press, theiraction has been debated even within the environmental movement. ---- In Brittany, the blocking of a wheat transport train reminds us that the means of defense ofworkers and environmentalists against what destroys life and ecosystems aresimilar, from unloading to "disarmament". On Thursday March 19, a freight trainwas blocked from passing near Pontivy in Brittany. Immobilized by a cinder blockwall built on the sly, the train was then unloaded: around fifty activists openedthe valves of the 22 tank cars, spilling 1,500 tonnes of wheat intended forindustrial farming. The train remained immobilized for three days on the track, the time to clear. The collective Bretagne contre les fermes-usines, which brings together membersof associations engaged in the fight for peasant agriculture, had already calledfor an end to the pollution induced by intensive Breton breeding and published akit to fight against factory farms (poultry, pork, but also fish farming aboveground), in a way that could not be more legal. But here we are, faced with thepower of agro-industrial lobbying and the anti-ecological decisions of theprefects, nothing guarantees a victory like the one against the installation of agiant chicken coop of 120,000 hens in Langoëlan, won at the administrative court.under the nose and beard of a prefect who sat on the paucity of impact studies.Faced with the extent of Breton pollution due to ammonia and the urgency ofaccelerating the transition to territorialized, the balance of power is difficultto reverse. The sabotage has spilled ink in the newspapers: the outcry of a state accustomedto sitting on its commitments and hijacking its own environmental protectionlaws; jeremiad demagogues from the very little legalistic FNSEA and the cereallobby Intercereals. The latter cries six million virtual baguettes, which thewheat was not intended to achieve, but especially regrets two million euros inlost earnings.Hit the walletThe promises of trial are raining down, while the collective, attacked fordegradation and described as "eco-terrorist", multiplies the press releases toexplain and contextualize its non-violent action. Within the environmentalmovement itself, from the citizenists to the strangely silent ranks of ExtinctionRebellion, the process is debated. However, it is neither brutal nor unprecedented. In 1979, faced with the breakage of their work tool and "to live and work in thecountry", the steelmakers of Longwy blocked and unloaded the coal coming fromneighboring Germany. An action to bring the struggle out of the company, towardsthe population, alongside other much more radical looting and sequestration. Anaction to directly question the production process, in line with the sabotageadvocated by the revolutionary trade unionist Pouget to "target the bosses at thecash register", opposing this reaction of resistance to the very real capitalistsabotage of the "fertilizer merchants[...]which attacks human life, ruins health, populates hospitals and cemeteries.»Jo (UCL Vosges) and Pauline (UCL Brest)https://www.unioncommunistelibertaire.org/?L-approvisionnement-d-une-ferme-usine-sabote_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
