The author analyzes the State from a sociopolitical angle and notes the
omnipresence and omnipotence of these structures of fragmentation into nationalentities, endowed with a legal framework for controlling all the socialinteractions of populations. ---- It is interested in regional and nationallanguages and in the latent work of the latter to control, destroy or limit theformer, as underlined by this declaration of the French Academy of June 2008asserting peremptorily that " regional languages carry attack on nationalidentity ". Through this example, Yásnaya Elena Aguilar Gil shows " the need formodern nation-states to build a unifying identity narrative and invariablyrelying on the construction of a unilingual society ". This trend is all thestronger today through the resurgence of obscurantist identity discourses.Beyond the observation of linguistic domination, this book addresses theexistence of other possibilities.
