The entire colonial and capitalist organization of the world is currently
contributing to an ecological crisis that is leading to the disappearance ofspecies, global warming, the destruction of Indigenous ways of life and cultures,the loss of habitats and crises deadly among human populations (famines,increases in the cost of living, forced population displacements, etc.). Thecommodification of everything is law in this era where environmentallydestructive projects are deified like manna. In addition to the democratic denialshown by the promoters, a considerable part of the sums from royalties have beensquandered by the MRCs to support recreational, sports or tourist infrastructures(http://ucl-saguenay.blogspot.com/2022/04/lac-st-jean-la-betise-monumentale-des.html). Rural territories are brought toheel for the production of surplus energy that does not meet local needs (eventhe future world of capitalism and its "smart cities", its 5G, its electric carsand all its gadgets) and this is as if there were no other means to find theresources locally to take care of the rehabilitation of baseball fields. Windturbines are however not without impact as reported in an article: "emission ofgases generated during manufacture and transport, deforestation, nocturnal lightpollution, impact on landscapes, impact on water, drying of plants and trees,vortex effect in case of forest fires, strobe nuisances, etc.[1]".Green capitalism is a chimera, as is the argument that this project should beentirely dedicated to the needs of the population. In this system, it comes aboveall to serve private interests, while extending the grip of Capital on theterritories. Renewable energy production is not a bad idea in itself. The problemis that there we will always produce more, not for our needs, but just for themoney.
