The state-capitalist world of power is in decay, the multiple crises of the
system lead interstate rivalries to armed conflicts and the social base to astate of exception and further impoverishment. The global capitalist crisis, after its last outbreak in '08, does not seem to have found balance, already in2019 international organizations warned of a new crisis in 2020. The covidpandemic that hit the planet made the financial crisis even more intense while ithighlighted several more fields of competition, sharpening the contrasts andleading to even harsher conditions of modern totalitarianism. Public debt, surpluses and unemployment are skyrocketing, making the living conditions of thesocial base even more difficult. The deplorable conditions and the lack of meansof protection in the workplaces created fertile ground for the rapid spread ofthe pandemic. The health crisis made evident the enormous contradictions of thesystem as well as the complete devaluation of the value of life at the altar ofprofit, leading to more than 30,000 deaths in the Greek area alone. At the same time, the destructive effects of the plundering of the naturalworld emerge more and more strongly. It is the colonialism of capital with thecementing and commercialization of the natural environment that leads to aclimate crisis. Heatwaves, devastating fires - which alone in our geography in2021 cost 1,301,239 acres -, dozens of devastating floods and cold, have claimedlives and caused innumerable material damages. In the last two years, another crisis is underway, the so-called energy crisis. The reflections and analyzes on the issues of the adequacy of the availableenergy resources, as well as the skyrocketing of the prices of energy products tounimaginable heights, are perceived by everyone. The effects of the energy crisison people's lives have become even clearer through the war in Ukraine, with theskyrocketing prices of petrol, electricity, oil and natural gas, yet anothercrisis whose cost is paid by the social base . Sovereignty on the other handaccelerates Renewable Energy (RES) programs that only serve the interests of thebosses ensuring super profits for contractors and providers, without providingenergy self-sufficiency. At the same time, the system is becoming more and more fortified. In everycrisis the response is repression, fortification, war, cannibalism andimpoverishment. The brutality in everyday (and international) relations is one ofthe most basic aspects of the generalized crisis. The occupation of every publicspace by police forces, the strengthening of repression against the internalenemy (social base) and the strategy of preventive counter-insurgency, thethousands of persecutions, imprisonments and repatriations of the oppressed andimmigrants, impoverishment, unemployment and the precarity leading to socialcannibalism, the increase in military armaments, "death" bases, and thegeneralization of conflict and war, are just a few examples of the violenceproduced by the world of power.Block in the education of war and repression In such a condition, education could not be left out of the equation. Afterall, education reflects the social environment within which it develops andshapes the perceptions of every aspect of social life. That is why educationalrestructuring is a strategic goal for the administrators of power. Thus, togetherwith the change of the post-political paradigm and the abolition of asylum, theintensification of study hours, the curtailment of demonstrations and thecriminalization of trade unionism, an increasingly commercialized educationsystem is outlined. As we will see below, the relationship between nationalismand military equipment with the educational process is strong. The school teaches nationalism and discipline Schools today are to the child what the prison is to the convict and thebarracks to the soldier-a place where everything is used to bend the child'swill, and then crush it, reshape it, and mold it into a creature foreign toitself, notes E. Goldman some years back. Reforms in education today aim at adapting education to the needs of the marketas well as forming obedient subjects fully disciplined to the dictates of power. The students act as future cheap labor, and the teachers are forced to evaluateand rub off on each other. Competition, intensification and individualization arethe basic yeast of schools. The constant exams, the increase in the material, the subject bank, let alonethe Minimum Entry Basis, reinforce the anxiety and class barriers shaping theeducation of the few. In recent years, the restructurings have also includedideological narratives that directly promote regressive perceptions and destroycreativity. The return of conduct to degrees and the abolition of humanitiescourses shape the ideological narrative of excellence and cannibalism.A basic aspect of social cannibalism is also patriarchy as it is reproduced inschools, both by the hierarchical way of teaching and by the students andteachers themselves. Characteristic were the incidents of rape by a student inEvosmos and infringing behavior by a teacher towards female students in a highschool in the center. Social cannibalism has found its main expression in schools in emergingfascism. In 2019, a young student is attacked by fascists in Naples, a few yearsafter the state attempts to repatriate minor immigrant students. At the sametime, fascist groups, finding inspiration from the occupations for Macedonian andconspiracy during the years of the pandemic, attack students who were handing outleaflets outside school and students inside schools by doing fascist occupations.Fascism in schools comes in full continuation of state policy. Initially, nationalism occupies a very high position throughout the ages in the"pedagogical" function of schools, both through the school material, much morethrough the daily prayers and student parades, in a system that needs fascism tofortify itself against class claims. State-promoted competition leaves no roomfor feelings of solidarity, creating a climate of individualism and alienation. Also, evaluations promote individualization among teachers and create a highlycompetitive work environment where personal growth is at stake. In addition, inrecent years we constantly hear about "juvenile delinquency", injuries andsuicides of students, incidents that reflect the rot of the society in which theyoccur. Violence, individualization, habit and proximity to death are complementsof the authoritarian world that overwhelm the lives of the oppressed.State-promoted competition leaves no room for feelings of solidarity, creating aclimate of individualism and alienation. The events of the last few months in the universities prove that the freedomsof asylum are for the sovereignty a distortion of the capitalist sovereignty. Thestate-capitalist university is trying to deepen its dominance both at therepressive and at the business level. Educational restructuring createsincreasingly suffocating frameworks for the poorest strata of the social base, with increasing exclusion, intensification and class barriers, and at the sametime attacks those who resist it. The research carried out in universities, directly linked to the needs of themarket and fully integrated into state-capitalist interests, is an important toolin the hands of the rulers for the further development of repressive and militarymechanisms. Research programs are linked to the needs of the military and policeand this link is a major part of the research function and production of theuniversities. The examples are enough. From the NTU ANDROMEDA and PREVISION research groupprograms to the INGENIUS and SIRIUS programs. Also, we cannot fail to refer morespecifically to the memorandum of cooperation with a duration of 2.5 years andcosts of approximately 1.5 million euros between the Hellenic Aviation Industry(EAB), the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (APTH), the Democritus Universityof Thrace (DPTH) and the University of Thessaly ( ??) for the purpose ofresearch, design and then the industrial production of a military drone, with thename "Archytas", headed by the Dean of the Polytechnic of AUTH, Kyros Hyakinthos. The use of the drone will be intended to serve military needs and to guard theborders, a fact that clearly outlines the involvement of university research inpossible violent repatriations of immigrants and in murderous attacks by theGreek state against the oppressed of this world. The relationship betweenuniversity, research programs and NATO was highlighted at the meeting held on16-17 February 2022, shortly before the start of the war in Ukraine, in which theMinister of National Defense indicated that there is readiness to host the DIANARegional Office ( Defense Innovation Accelerator) in Europe, due to the existenceof important Research Centers participating in research projects, financed by theEuropean Union and the European Defense Fund.We do not declare military and police schools! The surpluses created in the economy by the covid pandemic are leading to a neweconomic crisis, the burden of which will be called upon to be borne by thesocial base. Unemployment rates are already increasing and uninsured andprecarious work are almost the norm in wage labor. Capital has put forward aseries of restructurings in various social fields to ensure the continuity of itsdominance. In the area of work, the anti-labor law of '21 fully serves theinterests of the bosses, who fortify themselves against the workers bycriminalizing collective action and the institutional abolition of the 8-hourshift. Correspondingly, in the part of education, the capitalist restructuringshapes the education of the few and disciplined. On the one hand, the Minimum Entry Basis, the intensification of the pace ofstudies, the attendance limit, the mergers and abolition of departments and onthe other the disciplinary measures, deletions and the police for those whoreact, form the basis for an education system in the measures of the few. At thesame time, educational institutions operate competitively in terms of a companyin the context of evaluation and must find ways of financing outside the publicsector, adapted to the needs of the market. Much more starkly, we seeprofessional rights being stripped away from degrees and the emphasis placed onprivate schools and 3-year degree programs. The minimal job prospects that theeducational process can provide in Greece are turned into apprenticeships andunpaid work. Both in IEK, In the face of increasing precarity, the state fortifies itself throughincreasing repression. More immediately, we see recruitment in security forcesskyrocketing. It is the 1,500 recruitment of special guards for the police, the1,600 recruitment of (permanent military) EPOP, the 1,000 recruitment of OPPI,the 250 recruitment of border guards offered by the state in an exercise ofideological hegemony over people's lives. Where uncertainty builds an anxiousfuture comes the permanence of arms to keep the peace. After all, the rulersnever learned that violence creates dead ends, and for this reason, they answerevery question with totalitarianism. The aggravation of crises and confrontations lead states to the only certaintythey know, that of war. The generalization of the war in the Middle East andEurope and the upgrading of imperialist rivalries lead to an increase inarmaments. The Greek state, in conditions of a health crisis, took care to makethe policemen doctors who control movements, the weaknesses of the RaffaleNational Security Service and rockets, it baptized the immigrants a "hybridthreat" by constantly pushing back, building more and more heavily guardedconcentration camps. The university, as we have seen above, also works for thewar industry with programs directly linked to the military in border surveillanceand war operations. The Greek state takes a more active part in imperialistrivalries, At a time when public space and goods are being privatized and precision isdriving up the cost of living, the war industry is plotting the subjugation andslaughter of populations to expand its profits. It is now clear that thecompetitions for EEZ and borders mean nothing more than the profitability of themultinationals. It is now clear how the imagined community of nation and homelandcannot be constituted outside of capitalist interests and therefore we havenothing to gain from participating in their wars. As long as states and bossespromise death as the only prospect, we will demand that we take our lives intoour own hands in peace and solidarity. We will not become cannon fodder For all these reasons and for all the reasons in the world, we are not going totake sides with the rulers, declaring police and military schools, suppressingthe social needs and struggles of the oppressed, and organizing moderntotalitarianism. We are not going to wear a coat of arms for the dead endbloodshed of peoples, we are not going to contribute to a life full of fences, control and enclosures inside and outside the borders. We are not going toparticipate in the war and repressive mechanisms that will turn against the poorand downtrodden and serve the geopolitical and economic interests of imperialistoligarchs of all kinds. We as anarchist internationalists maintain the unchanged anti-war position, weoppose those who sow death among the peoples. To the repressive and warlikefortifications of the state, we respond with class and international solidarityand with self-organized struggles for the life we deserve.
