10 years ago, on July 19, as the Syrian revolution turned into a deadly civil
war, the YPG/YPJ (People's Self-Defense Unit linked to the PYD, the Syrian branchof the PKK), which had been formed in secret since 2004 following the massacresof March 12, take control of the city of Kobanê. In the aftermath, the movementspreads: Efrîn, Derik, Amudê and Darbasiyê. The Kurds celebrate the liberation ofWestern Kurdistan, Rojava, and unbolt the portraits of the Assad family! Sincethen, in this territory already rich in a heritage common to all humanity, afeminist, democratic and internationalist revolution has been born and is resisting.Despite the pressures from all sides, the double game of the NATO and Russianimperialists, the Syrian state, the attacks of Daesh, the invasions andoccupations of Turkey and its ANS (Syrian National Army) militias, the Kurdishmovement and its allies built an administration (the Autonomous Administration ofNorth and East Syria) based on democratic autonomy, women's liberation, radicaldemocracy and ecology, while liberating entire regions under the control of theIslamic State, such as Raqqa or Kobané, and by fighting resolutely against theaggressions of the fascist Erdogan. The system set up in the North and East ofSyria does not offer a political solution only for the Kurds but for all thepeoples of this territory: Arabs, Armenians, Assyrians, Circassians, Chechens,Turkmens, Yazidis...UCL supports the Kurdish left by acting, studying, or publicizing the politicalrevolution in Rojava/northeast Syria. It is therefore only natural that today weare celebrating the 10th anniversary of this revolution. But in the face ofErdogan's threats, imperialist interests, natural and political drought, thewhole of Kurdistan is more than ever under pressure. For this, we affirm that it must be supported by all means. Let us recall, amongother things, that the revolution defends or has achieved:- the autonomy of tens of thousands of women from all nations who organizethemselves in all sectors of society: education, training, armed self-defense,agriculture, justice, economy...- the Women's Law, which provides in particular for the male/female co-presidencyof all institutions, the prohibition of forced marriage, dowry, giving one'sdaughter to a family, the criminalization of "honour crimes", the equalitybetween men and women throughout society...- the professional training of women and the feminization of all professionalsectors, as well as the development of autonomous cooperative activities for women.- the Mala Jîn (Women's Houses), the fight against sexist and sexual violence andespecially that against feminicides.- free and public education, for all in the mother tongue and anti-sexisteducation from an early age and throughout schooling, research centers on thescience of women and life: the jineolojî.For us, defending the Rojava revolution is:- Defend a society without a state, a federalist society, based on municipalitiesand local councils.- Defend a concept of transformative justice based on grassroots conflict resolution.- Defend the democratic planning of production through economy committees anddefend the establishment of a cooperative economy.- Defend popular self-defense!- Defend the self-defense of women! In addition, UCL demands:- the removal of the PKK and other armed political branches of the revolutionfrom the list of terrorist organisations.- the truth and the end of state secrecy on the assassination in Paris, onJanuary 9, 2013, of Fidan Dogan, Sakîne Cansiz and Leyla Saylemez.- the release of Abdullah Öcalan and all the prisoners of the Kurdish left andits supporters. For all these reasons and many more, UCL will continue to defend the Rojavarevolution!Sersala te pîroz be Rojava - Happy Birthday Rojava! On this day, we also have a moved thought for all those who gave their lives tothe revolution and more particularly for Ferhat Sibli, tireless craftsman of theconstruction of AANES, martyred in Iraq under a drone strike from the Turkisharmy on June 17, 2022.We are also thinking of all those who have fallen, are imprisoned, persecuted orin exile following their revolutionary commitment against dictatorships and forthe establishment of democratic societies in Syria, in the Middle East, andduring the Peoples' Spring revolutions.Shehîd Nemirin - Martyrs never die.Libertarian Communist Union, July 19, 2022https://www.unioncommunistelibertaire.org/?10-ans-apres-plus-que-jamais-defendons-la-Revolution-du-19-juillet_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
