The thousands of hectares gone up in smoke due to fires of an almost
unprecedented scale in France are not the result of chance or bad luck. ---- Thefact that in France there are no deaths does not hide the fact that elsewhere inthe world people have lost their lives and that here and elsewhere thousands ofpeople have lost precious goods, including their homes. ---- But we can affirmit: it is indeed human activity, in particular that linked to Capitalism, whichis the cause of all this. ---- Forest management today no longer responds to alogic of preservation but rather of capturing wood for maximum profit for ownersand companies in the wood industry. They are planted against common sense,accumulating highly flammable tree species, without creating a buffer zone incase of fire.The means of fighting fires have been abused for years by public policies focusedon everything profitable, to the detriment of the useful. Thus, protectionprofessionals find themselves in poorly paid jobs, not recognized as dangerousand under great pressure from public service reforms. They are assisted byvolunteers themselves very poorly compensated, with vague mission outlines andoverexploited due to a lack of professionals. The Anarchist Federation does notdoubt the dedication of these people, it even thanks them for holding on despitethese terrible and unacceptable conditions. To top it off, the equipment is oftendilapidated, the planes grounded, due to lack of maintenance and timelyinvestment. What to add to the anger.The current temperatures, which are hotter than ever, are the consequence ofproductivism and predatory capitalism pushed to the limit, which have led toclimate change, the first visible effects of which we are experiencing. We cannotexpect anything from Capitalism, nor from the State, which has been its assumedaccomplice for years, to get us out of this.It is by taking control of our spaces, locally and collectively, while respectingrisks and needs, that we can change the situation. It is by removing theproductions necessary for humanity from any form of profit that we will be ableto move forward and certainly not by turning to the management tool that hasbrought us to the abyss, we call Capitalism.Let's quickly reinvent a collective living together that protects both nature andhumans, let's go beyond private property to bring back to the collectiveeverything that allows us to live and take the necessary steps today towards amore desirable future.Down with Capitalism.
