In the middle of summer, with universities closed and much of the world absent
from the cities, the state, in cooperation with its proxies, continues to movetowards the implementation of its repressive neo-liberal policies. This time,launching a new attack against the asylum and the student movement, with the helpof the rector Nikos Papaioannou, they installed turnstiles inside the AUTHRectorate building in August. Once again, we witness the indifference of thestate apparatus and how it exploits every opportunity to serve its interests.This is just one more move by the state against society and competitivemovements, during the summer, with some others being the evacuation of occupiedspaces, with a recent example of Occupy 111 in Thessaloniki, the preventivedetention of companions, as in the case of Yiannis Michaelidis , and the passingof bills, in the middle of the summer season, with the aim of least possiblereactions, such as the new law on higher education.We should not forget that the placement of turnstiles inside universities is oneof the main articles of Law 4777, one of the most reactionary laws that have beenpassed, targeting one of the most radical parts of society, the students and thestudent movement. It is not surprising that AUTH is the first university in thecountry where this measure is implemented. The rector of this particularinstitution has proven many times that he deservedly holds the title of ruffian,and that he will probably continue to keep it, despite the reactions andmobilizations against him by the AUTH students themselves. This particularexample of the trustee has undoubtedly set the precedent for many measuresagainst students, which will surely find imitators in other universities.For our part, as anarchist students, let us make it clear to Papaioannou and allkinds of ruffians and collaborators of the state, that we are not going to bequiet, no matter what they do.
