Today at noon, despite the rainy weather, a picket was held at the headquarters

Whenit was possible to identify the direct perpetrator of the Warta River pollution -the Bros company - not much was done to punish him.The case has been dragging on for 6.5 years, despite overwhelming evidence. Theperpetrator, although known, has not yet been answered for his act. The onlypenalty that met him was a secret fine for illegal waste disposal, which,according to media reports, amounted to a maximum of 600,000. PLN (the foreseenpenalty is PLN 1 million). The actual river poisoning case, in which the onlysuspect is Bros's boss Piotr M., only started in February this year. Piotr M. isno longer tried for perpetration by ordering the disposal of the substance in thecheapest way, but for neglecting employees.This situation shows that law enforcement authorities clearly do not care aboutgetting a conviction, and in the event of a river poisoning, they should alsofight for a high financial penalty, giving a chance for at least partial repairof the damage or financing of warning systems against water poisoning.At the same time, the police and the prosecutor's office have no problems withprosecuting and demanding the punishment of participants in environmentalcampaigns. Politicians boldly use phrases such as "eco-terrorists" in theirpropaganda. The president of the country once became famous for his speechdenying climate change, in the political halls of the ruling party, denying humancontribution to the climate catastrophe is in fact the norm.In such a political atmosphere, it is difficult to believe in real actions aimedat identifying and prosecuting the perpetrators of the ecological disaster on theOder. The sluggish actions to contaminate the Warta are an example of how to"fight" the polluters in Poland. That is why our today's, symbolic action was toshow that there are still people in the country who look at the hands of theprosecutor's office and demand action against the perpetrators of river poisoning.At the end of the protest, to remind the prosecution of their own investigation,a statue of a dead fish was left in front of the building.
