Latvian pianist Georgijs Osokins leaves no one without emotion.
His performances during the last International F. Chopin Competition were called a true revelation, and there is no doubt that this young musician is having a unique personality.
Already at a very early stage of the contest he was declared by many as the absolute winner, others suspected his playing to be too daring and special for a competition.
As a result, he walked away with worldwide concert proposals even before the final results.
In the meantime he performed in renowned venues such as the Tokyo Metropolitan Hall or the Berlin Konzerthaus, he became a close chamber music partner of violinist Gidon Kremer, and has released several cd's.
One can say that it is with certain pride that we may announce that he will open the Brussels Chopin Days season 2022-2023.
It is on Friday 16 September that Georgijs Osokins will come to Brussels, and this with a wonderful and extensive Chopin program.
The first notes of the new season will be the ones of the late written and lyrical Nocturne Op. 62, Nr. 1, followed by one of Chopin's absolute masterpieces: Piano Sonata Nr. 3, Op. 58.
This sonata contains about all the elements to conquer an audience, and it was with this exact piece that Georgijs Osokins left the audience totaly speechless during the last Chopin competition in Warsaw.
After the break, calmth returns for a while with Nocturne Op. 27, Nr. 2, after which virtuosity awaits: 12 Etudes, Op. 25.
Few pianists dare to perform the complete cycle on stage, as Chopin's Etudes demand about everything a pianist should have: musicality, poetry, imagination, and a big portion of virtuosity.
It is clear that the young Latvian is not lacking in guts.
This will be one of these concerts you're going to speak about for a long time.

Le pianiste letton Georgijs Osokins ne laisse personne indifférent.
Ses performances lors du dernier Concours International F. Chopin ont été qualifiées de révélation absolue.
La personnalité particulière de ce jeune musicien est incontestable : beaucoup l'ont proclamé vainqueur dès le début du concours, d'autres ont estimé que son jeu était trop audacieux et risqué pour un concours de piano.
Ce qui est vrai, c'est que le jeune letton a reçu des propositions de concerts dans le monde entier avant même la fin du concours
Entre-temps, il a joué dans des salles telles que le Tokyo Metropolitan Hall ou le Konzerthaus de Berlin, il est aussi devenu le partenaire régulier du violoniste Gidon Kremer, et a plusieurs CD à son actif.
C'est donc avec une certaine fierté que nous pouvons annoncer que c'est lui qui ouvrira la saison 2022-2023 des Brussels Chopin Days.
Le vendredi 16 septembre prochain, Georgijs Osokins vient à Bruxelles avec un magnifique et vaste programme Chopin.
Les premières notes de la nouvelle saison seront celles du tardif et lyrique Nocturne Op. 62, Nr. 1, suivies immédiatement par l'un des chefs-d'œuvre absolus de Chopin : la Sonate pour piano Nr. 3, Op. 58.
Cette sonate contient à peu près tous les éléments nécessaires pour conquérir complètement un public, et c'est précisément avec cette sonate qu'Osokins a quelque peu surpris le public lors du dernier Concours Chopin à Varsovie.
Après la pause, le calme revient pour un moment avec le Nocturne Op. 27, Nr. 2, après quoi une démonstration de virtuosité nous attend : les 12 Etudes, Op. 25.
Seuls quelques pianistes osent interpréter l'intégralité de cet opus sur scène.
Les Etudes de Chopin concentrent, en effet, à peu près tout ce qu'un pianiste doit maîtriser : musicalité, poésie, imagination et grande virtuosité.
A cet égard, le jeune Letton fait preuve d'une remarquable force d'âme.
Voici certainement un de ces concerts dont on parlera encore longtemps.

Lets pianist Georgijs Osokins laat niemand onberoerd.
Zijn vertolkingen tijdens de laatste Internationale F. Chopin Wedstrijd werden een absolute revelatie genoemd.
Dat deze jonge muzikant een bijzondere persoonlijkheid heeft staat buiten kijf: door velen werd hij al in de eerste ronde uitgeroepen tot de gedoodverfde winnaar, anderen vermoedden dat zijn spel te gewaagd en te risicovol was voor een pianowedstrijd.
Wat vaststaat is dat de jonge Let wereldwijde concertaanbiedingen in de wacht sleepte, nog voor de wedstrijd teneinde was.
Inmiddels speelde hij al in zalen als de Tokyo Metropolitan Hall of het Konzerthaus in Berlijn, werd hij vaste partner van violist Gidon Kremer, en heeft hij diverse cd's op zijn actief.
Het is dan ook met enige fierheid dat we mogen aankondigen dat net hij zal zorgen voor de opener van seizoen 2022-2023 van de Brussels Chopin Days.
Het is op vrijdag 16 september dat Georgijs Osokins naar Brussel komt, en dit met een prachtig en omvangrijk Chopin-programma.

Slechts weinige pianisten durven het aan om deze gehele opus op het podium te brengen.
Chopins Etudes vragen dan ook zowat alles wat een pianist in huis moet hebben: muzikaliteit, poëzie, verbeelding, en een grote virtuositeit.
Aan lef ontbreekt het de jonge Let in elk geval niet.
Dit wordt zo één van die concerten waar u nog lang over zal napraten.
