have access to media where the dominant ideas are omnipresent. Social
conditioning operates early to assign them a position in society according to
their social class, their gender, the "race" group they are associated with
(through systemic racism), etc. Parents are right to intervene to challenge the
reproduction of unequal social relations and introduce their children to
alternative ideas and values ​​such as ecology, feminism, sexual and gender
diversity, anti-racism and anarchism.; they thus participate in the development
of critical thinking in children. It is with this in mind that the Emma Goldman
Collective self-produced the Children's Anarchist Dictionary and we invite you to
a new launch in Sherbrooke on Saturday, October 29 at 1:00 p.m. at Noir Chardon
(297 rue Alexandre). Adults and children are welcome. They will be able to
participate in the activities together free of charge. We can also read a few
excerpts and have a little discussion depending on what interests you. Please
spread the word around to people who might be interested.

A few words about the Anarchist Children's Dictionary

Using definitions, comparisons and metaphors, this self-produced little book aims
to introduce rebellious young minds to anarchism. The book uses the magnificent
illustrations of a book published in Chile by Jorge Enkis with his permission.
Some passages have also been translated and adapted from Spanish. The rest is new
content produced by the Emma Goldman Anarchist Collective. Like the original
work, we have sought to appeal to the realities closer to children living in the
territories of Nitassinan and so-called Quebec. Each of the definitions is
embellished with a drawing and presents a libertarian perspective on a wide range
of questions that will feed the curiosity of the youngest. This book aims to fuel
critical thinking and raise questions in children. The definitions sometimes go
against the grain of what is generally understood. We can bring the child to
observe this gap in the representations which is rich in questions. Other texts
will lead her to think about new issues and realities for her/him. The role of
the guide is thus to ask questions about the child's understanding, to lead him
to make connections with his own reality and to support his curiosity. The child
does not need to agree with everything and that's fine! In fact, that's
definitely not the point of this reading. Rather, it is about raising questions
that may, sooner or later, give rise to new concerns and ideas. And maybe not...
In this case, the child will at least have learned that there are different ways
of seeing the issues presented and that it is possible to doubt, criticize and
fight against the injustices that cross his society.
