On the " reinformation " networks or during certain mobilizations against the
health pass, these last thirty months have been marked by numerous explicitexpressions of anti-Semitism. Because far from having disappeared after 1945,French anti-Semitism is unfortunately still present. ---- Due to the scale of thesocial and political upheaval they cause, epidemics are often times of crisiswhen racism explodes. The current pandemic is no exception, as we already notedin April 2020 in the face of the resurgence of hateful acts and remarks towardspeople of Asian origin. And just as variants of the virus have multiplied,anti-Semitic discourse has proliferated in many forms. The Covid-19 pandemic... and racismThus, even before the first confinement, Agnès Buzyn, then Minister of Health, her immunologist husband Yves Lévy, former director of the National Institute ofHealth and Medical Research, and the Director of Health Jérôme Salomon were thetarget of virulent attacks on the Internet by conspirators. Their wrong? TheirJewishness. The accusations are going well: the two would have censored theresults of poor Professor Raoult - almost Jesus of modern times - on chloroquine,Lévy would have participated in the inauguration of the Wuhan laboratory fromwhich the virus would have come out while Salomon would have knowingly liquidatedthe stock of masks... Worse still, several montages representing Agnès Buzyn witha hooked nose, sometimes pouring poison into a well, were fairly widely relayedin the far-right stinking swamps of Twitter or Facebook. In short, nothing newamong the anti-Semites who only update the old accusation of the poisoners ofwells dating from the Middle Ages.During the first confinement, a new anti-Semitic rumor, renewed in the second, isadded to the previous ones : while sanitary conditions lead to the closure ofplaces of worship, videos circulate claiming that unlike churches, synagogues(and also mosques for some Islamophobes) would have had the right to remain open. This controversy is closely followed by that of an " authorization " for Jewishpeople to go out without certification for Shabbat. Although none of this is trueand despite the announcement of the chief rabbi of France Haïm Korsia, on March18, on the closing of the synagogues, it does not take more for the anti-Semitesto denounce the " philosemitism " of the State that would be subject to theinterests of " Israel " (meaning Jewish people). The link between anti-Semitism and health conspiracy is old.We should not be fooled by this absence of factual logic. The conspirators, ingeneral, have never needed it. After all, you don't need to be ideologicallyconsistent when you have centuries of structural anti-Semitism behind you! It isnot so much the " evidence " that motivates them as the general feeling thatsomething has upset the status quo of society, which has become too complex. If certain observations may seem true on the surface (here, the catastrophic andauthoritarian management of the coronavirus by the government), any possiblesympathy must stop there. For many of the propagators of these theories, the realproblem of the pandemic has not been the sacrifice of our health, imposed by thestate and the capitalist class to save their profits, or its 18 million deaths, but the simple fact that it has changed our lives since 2020. " Freedom above all! "It is enough to hear the rantings about the "coronafolies" or the calls tolift any health restrictions soon, even if it means letting all the people atrisk die who " would have died in the year anyway ", to understand that it Thisis not a misdirected anger but a deadly reactionary expression. This destabilization of the established order is seen as absolutely intolerable. And who other than the Jews, scapegoat par excellence in power mythologized forcenturies for the base reactionary, could be at the origin of such an upheaval? And although some theories do not necessarily veer into anti-Semitism or aresometimes carried by people who are unaware of the double meaning, it isdifficult to ignore that they most often take up the clothes!Against conspiratorial fever, zero toleranceThe link between anti-Semitism and health conspiracy is old and the troublemakershad already prepared the ground well upstream, the pandemic and theauthoritarian, above-ground and disastrous management of the government havingoffered them a golden opportunity to explode in visibility. The greatest danger of health conspiracies is that they are the Trojan horse ofreaction. No section of society or part of the political spectrum is naturallyimmune to anti-Semitism, so conspiracy theories can take root there and thendevelop into anti-Semitic buds if we are not vigilant. It is difficult to denythat the Manichean simplicity of explaining the world that they bring can beattractive and therefore seduce people, who are not originally anti-Semitic,particularly in the face of such an existential earthquake as the current pandemic. If the coronavirus picks up well in the fall, or if a new pandemic emerges in thefuture, our response will have to be in order, especially if the state responsecontinues to be so bad. A simple "debunking" will not be enough to opposeanti-Semitic conspiratorial discourse or to convince people distraught by thepandemic not to listen to them.Only a strong collective reaction can inoculate our class against this poison. Itwill also have to go through the promotion of a counter-discourse of solidaritywhich offers a real materialist response to the pandemic and to individualist, validist, conspiratorial and anti-Semitic thought, as well as through concretepractices of prevention, information and risk reduction. Past and currentstruggles against other epidemics (HIV, addictions, etc.) should inspire us inthis respect. For real health self-defense against diseases... as well as against anti-Semites!UCL Anti-Racism CommissionA NAZI JEWISH PLOT ?The gradual implementation of the Sanitary Pass from summer 2021 opens a newsequence that we analyzed in September 2021 : once again, a small group of people(the infamous " Who ? ") pulling the strings in the shadow was regularlydenounced by far-right activists who had taken over, even instigated certainanti-pass demonstrations.Besides this dog-whistle quickly, and correctly, identified as anti-Semitic, wehave also seen many parallels with Nazism flourish: the sanitary measures wouldtreat the non-vaccinated as the Nazis treated the Jews and Jewish women ! Thisodious comparison, far from being a sign of " compassion " with the victims ofNazism, demonstrates at best a total misunderstanding of the Holocaust, folklorized and seen as the violent result of a simple policy of stigmatizationwhose target would have been chosen almost randomly by the Nazis to better cometo power and not as the appalling culmination of centuries of Europeananti-Semitism, and at worst a radically anti-Semitic expression : "don't treat uslike Jews!»Faced with all these conspiracies, one can only be struck by their apparentcontradiction. How to explain that the same circles can affirm at the same timethat the virus is a deception orchestrated by the " globalists " and that it is abiological weapon manufactured in the laboratory by the same ? How can weunderstand that these people can implicitly denounce a Jewish plot and identifywith Jews under Nazism ?https://www.unioncommunistelibertaire.org/?Coronavirus-et-complotisme-Les-habits-rapieces-de-l-antisemite_________________________________________A - I N F O S N E W S S E R V I C EBy, For, and About AnarchistsSend news reports to A-infos-en mailing listA-infos-en@ainfos.caSPREAD THE INFORMATION
