Africa has extended to Mozambique. In front of the coasts of the country, ENI has
discovered mega-fields of gas, from which already this autumn the gas tankers
bound for Italy will leave.
Strategic for ENI is also the mission in Qatar which, officially in defense of
the soccer world cup, will go beyond sporting competition, becoming part of an
increasingly close military collaboration with the petro-emirate. Qatar is
becoming the world leader in the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG). On
June 19 in Doha, Italy signed an agreement for the creation of a joint venture
between QatarEnergy and Eni.
