It is nothing new that the governor of the State of Paraná, Ratinho Júnior (PSD),
and his Secretary of Education, Renato Feder, have a firm commitment to theproject to destroy public education. Some of the measures already adopted by theduo were the militarization of around 200 schools, the outsourcing of educationalagents, the imposition of PSS teachers to carry out theoretical and practicaltests annually and the hiring of a private higher education institution,Unicesumar, to assume part of the new high school curriculum through theprovision of distance classes. In addition, the pressure for goals, the forceduse of Platforms and other technological resources and the constantcontrol/harassment of education professionals are characteristic features of hisgovernment.The newest step taken in the private enterprise was the publication of a publicnotice that provides for the accreditation of business education groupsinterested in taking over the management of 27 schools in the state network. Inother words, the administrative, financial and pedagogical management of theseschools will be outsourced, as well as the teachers, pedagogues and otherprofessionals who are currently hired through the Simplified Selection Process - PSS.The government's justification is the inability to manage the more than 2thousand schools in the state education network, but, as we have already seen inthe partnership with Unicesumar signed through a contract worth R$ 38 million,the immediate consequence is the transfer of resources public funds into thepockets of private education entrepreneurs.In addition, other possible consequences of the expansion of outsourcing are theend of democratic school management (decisions will no longer need to go throughparticipatory instances, excluding the school community), the increase inharassment for attendance and performance goals, the increase in control overteaching work and the institutionalization of instability among educationworkers. Finally, the end of public school as we know it.To make matters worse, it is with a climate of desolation that much of thecategory receives the news. Because he was reelected with almost 70% of the validvotes, many believe that the people of Paraná gave carte blanche to Ratinho Jr.advance against education and its workers. However, we must not forget that,regardless of governments, the defense of education and public schools is in theinterests of the whole of society, and that seeking to hold those who voted forRato accountable within and outside the category for this attack only generatesdisunity and weakens our agenda.Those who still have some hope of stopping the dismantling of public educationdirect it to the election of Lula (PT) next Sunday (30) or to judicial measuresto be taken by APP-Sindicato, as if these paths were enough to prevent suchattack.
