We talkabout school segregation, inequalities perpetuated by the social constructsinstilled in socialization or the gap between increased lives and diminishedlives. These terms all testify to the impact of systems of domination that do notspare children. Without falling into fatalism in the face of these socialconditions that authors such as Pierre Bourdieu or Elena Gianini Belotti havedescribed well, the Anarchist Dictionary of Children exposes, on the one hand, ina critical way certain phenomena and institutions (for example Quebec, thecolonialism, law or war) to encourage its young readers to deepen theirunderstanding of these realities and to develop their critical thinking. On theother hand, the book highlights several values and traits (such as gratuity,cooperation and freedom) and puts forward initiatives and resistance movements(including the strike, the Zapatistas or the assembly) as solutions and hopes tomove from the dominated political subject to the subject in struggle with peoplewho share his condition. In other words, rather than reminding children thatreality is harsh, but that's how it is and it could be worse (as they and theyare too often told as they discover the world), the Dictionary offers ideas forchanging things, or even avoiding passivity and deadly resignation.After holding events in Chicoutimi, Saint-Valérien, Quebec and Sherbrooke, theEmma Goldman Collective invites you to a launch of the Anarchist Children'sDictionary in Saint-Fulgence on Saturday, November 12 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cafédestides (257A rue du Saguenay).
