In mid-October, the regular convention of the Anarchist Federation took place in
Hradec Králové. However, it must be admitted that this year we put the regularitya bit on the tail when we somehow missed the spring meeting. Fortunately, therewere more informal opportunities to meet during the year, so nothing too terriblehappened and the federation functioned as it should, or rather as well as it can.---- Many members arrived early on Friday evening, so the following hoursconsisted of sitting in the pub, telling funny stories from the federation's pastand present, casual chatting or discussing some of the points that will bediscussed the following day. ---- On Saturday morning, more reinforcementsarrived, some joined online, and around ten o'clock negotiations could begin. Theprogram adhered to the established concept of getting to know each other, reportsfrom the regions, evaluation of the fulfillment of tasks from the previousconvention, acceptance of new members, determination of the place and date of thenext meeting, activities of working groups, selection of member contributions,lunch and action planning. The penultimate point was especially appreciated byeveryone - how much happiness and contentment can such mashed potatoes with robimeat bring?But let's grasp the discussed points rather thematically. There was a reflectionon events and campaigns that we either directly organized or were involved in insome way, either actively or passively. It was, for example, a demonstration forthe dignified treatment of Roma refugees, the Anarchist Book Festival, the Firstof May, the blockade of the March for Life, participation in Pride or ClimateCamp, the organization of the "Luxury for All" block at a trade union meeting, anattempt to campaign in the streets against clerofascists, zines and bookfestivals, public summer barbecues with sympathizers or involvement in othergroups - most often FNB, autonomous spaces or collectives on the topic of housing.One of the key topics - as well as other things - was the war in Ukraine. Sincethe beginning of the Russian genocidal invasion on February 24, we have been veryintensively devoted to it, especially by informing on our website. We recentlyorganized an event against the Putinist demonstration in Prague. We published thespring issue of the anarchist magazine Existencetitled "Defying Invasion". Wemade a collection between us - about 80,000 went to Solidarity Operation (todaySolidarity Collective), to support specific people, to the Anarchist Black Crossin Moscow, Irkutsk and Belarus and some other projects. We helped people who werestuck at the border while fleeing, as well as with accommodation here ororganizing volunteer medical assistance in Ukraine. We held lectures on"Anarchists and the War in Ukraine" at the Fluff and Riot over River festivals.At the autumn congress, the continuation of our support for the defense ofUkrainian workers against the bloody imperial appetites of Putin and hissycophants was confirmed, especially in the practical form of supportinganarchist initiatives, projects and fighters directly in Ukraine, but also bysupporting anarchists in Russia and Belarus. Also related to the topic was thedebate regarding attitudes to war within the International of AnarchistFederations, where we made it clear that we were on the side of the fight againstZ-fascism. As part of our international relations, we would like to focus moresystematically on networking towards the east in the future. There was also thequestion of what to do with the pro-Russian fifth column in the Czech Republic.At the same time, we see the fight against it as part of the fight against energypoverty, on which the Z-fascist forces are trying to seduce us. In thisdirection, we see meaningful support for the Tenants' Initiative or Limitscampaigns. What about the pro-Russian fifth column in the Czech Republic? We have committed to react either by participatingin solidarity and protest actions or directly initiating them. In the same way,we want to devote the upcoming issue of the wall newspaper A3 to the topic from abroader perspective . In the long term, we want to continue to speak out againstthe clero-fascist and ultra-conservative forces and, among other things, advocatefor the demolition of the restored column of shame in the Old Town Square in Prague.As part of promotional and publishing activities, we acknowledged that ourwebsite and profiles on some social networks work on a daily basis, and we manageto publish the monthly magazine A3 every month . An upcoming novelty will be anonline version of the booklet Anarchism for Beginners enriched with links and aguide, as well as an audio mutation. Although the autumn issue of Existence onthe topic "Anarchist Strategy" has been almost ready since the beginning ofSeptember , something is still waiting. Well, maybe soon. The working group ofthe AF Publishing House presented the publishing plan for the years 2022-4. So,if everything goes according to our plans, you can look forward to pocketbooklets about Magón, about Sacco and Vanzeti, about the history of anarchism inBulgaria or about Marx's theory from an anarchist perspective, about a newedition of the bookI'm going to Magadan , to another revolutionary songbook, toan almost unknown text by Franta Sauer and, in the longer term, to a book aboutAlexey Sokrat Sutug, to an expanded edition of Anarchistic Publicistics or to abrochure about Luisa Landová-Štychová, so that her image is not shaped by just arelatively horrible book from Standa.We didn't forget the toast of solidarity from the convention either.
