It is to be regretted that the choice of the second day of the interpro strike on
October 18 was made more because of the internal conflicts at the CGT with a viewto the next confederal congress than on the basis of discussions in the unionsand then between federations on the possibilities actual mobilization. This isalso the case for the next days of mobilization to which the CGT has called alone(October 27 and November 10). Trade unionism remains an essential tool that wecannot do without, and that revolutionary activists must contribute to buildingon a daily basis.But we also need to defend other practices there,other orientations and other strategies than the existing onescurrently in many structures. We have tosure first of all to defend union democracy at the base, that of theunion members but also more broadly that of employees instruggle. We must also defend democratic practicesin our local and departmental unions and in our federationstions. For this, the principle of federalism must be res-pected and that the decisions of these structures are in realitythose of the trade unions which are its members.
