Once again on November 4th, the date that commemorates the end of the enormous
slaughter of workers that was the First World War, the Italian state celebrateswar, death and militarism. Once again, today as then, Italy is at war.The Russian-Ukrainian conflict, only the latest of those supported and fought bythe West, today sees NATO on one side and Russia with its satellite countries onthe other. Thousands and thousands of Ukrainian civilians massacred, hundreds ofthousands of refugees, some fleeing the conflict, some, deserters, fleeingconscription. The run-up to rearmament and the increase in military spending allover the world which in Italy have never seen a reduction even in time of apandemic. New military bases like that of Coltano are born, the militaryinsinuate themselves in schools, the Italian bases are used as an outpost formissions in Ukraine and throughout the Mediterranean. Along with militarism, atoxic culture is spreading more and more, which finds its unfolding inauthoritarianism and patriarchy, with all the consequences that gender violenceand the social control of territories exerts on our lives.
